All officers were present except SK Victor Quesnot who had a death in the family and SK Chris Anders whose wife had surgery. The dinner was so delicious thanks to SK Ernie who spent hours and hours preparing the briquette and sausage. The side dishes were so many it was just impossible to taste them all. Thank you Lady Mary Quesnot for the two big yummy cakes. I m sorry there was such a confusion over the evening dress. I guess some folks thought I wrote evening gown. But it turned out OK as it seemed some came as you are anyway. For the Sir Knights that are shown by supreme to have full regalia you will be contacted as we are trying to build up a strong color corps unit. If the Supreme figures are correct, in our assembly there are 98 members with full regalia. These members shown on the Supreme website have not been filtered by the age of members as one does not know who can and who can t turnout. In any case It s hard to figure out why we have such a poor turn out ratio if the fourth degree is the visible arm of the Knights of Columbus. We do have Sir Knights that would like to turn out but lack the funds to purchase their regalia. If you have regalia and it just hangs there without use, maybe you could consider donating it to the assembly or selling it at a reasonable price so we can get more troops on the ground in regalia. Pray about it=

We will need gift cards in the amount of $25.00 from HEB and/or Walmart. We ask you as individuals or councils to prayerfully consider donating what you can. We are not setting a number but the more the better. These cards will be door prizes and any one will have a chance of winning one. 4 HAMBURGER SITUATION As of now we are continuing our hamburger fund drive which has not been producing a reasonable income. However we are looking at every possible option to get it where it should be. The areas we are looking at are the rent we pay for the kitchen, the meat, cheese, veggies, condiments, supplies and waste. Some key players are for finding other avenues of raising funds but for now we will keep doing what we ve been doing. I ve updated the kitchen duty for the balance of the year, we ll take another look at the results in January to see how we are doing then we can decide which direction we should take. Some of you have indicated it would be easier to remember when you are scheduled for kitchen duty if it was on the calendar so on the calendar it will be however I ve included the yearly schedule to help you plan your time. LOOKING GOOD Sir Knight Jose Montez Stopped by Friday night during Hamburgers to say hello and he looks like he s doing real good on his recovery from heart surgery. Keep doing what you re doing Jose you re looking great.. FROM OUR DISTRICT MASTER, JOE RODRIGUEZ Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller has invited ALL Knights in the San Antonio Archdiocese to a Mass of Thanksgiving on August 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at San Fernando Cathedral, 115 S Main Plaza, San Antonio, TX Bring your wives. The Master has requested all Sir Knights with full regalia to wear it and if you don t have full regalia wear your tux and social Most of you are real good at getting someone to take you place when you know you can t make it, some still forget, that s OK, We all forget some times. Also, thank you all who come in and help even when you re not scheduled. Thank you SK Tommy Cavazos, SK Ernie Peña, SK Sony Riojas, SK Jose Cabrera and SK Derek Wenzel for coming in at the last minute when we are really short handed. DISTRICT 2 AWARDS AND SCHOLAR- SHIPS MILITARY BALL TICKETS For officers and members that are holding District 2 Awards and Scholarships Military Ball tickets; we have about 90 days left to sell them or buy them. Please be prepared, we will be taking a tally to keep track of the tickets left to sell or buy since I do not know exactly how or who received them. This is a Master s event, let s all get behind him and support this event. Baldric. The Archbishop will socialize and be available for photos with the knights after the mass. Show Time is 1:30 PM. Plan to share rides and show up early due to parking. FOURTH DEGREE EXEMPLIFICATION September 24, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX It s time to go to your councils and promote the 4th Degree for what it is, the Visible Arm of the Knights of Columbus. We would like to invite men who are interested in being the visible arm of the Knights of Columbus. How ever we need 12 new members this year so we can t be very picky so long as they pass the scrutiny our admissions committee inquiry. Look at last months Beacon for a tux deal. This turnout on July 24, 2016 at Annunciation Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St Hedwig TX was a request from Fr. Bill Zadora, SDS, Pastor of Annunciation Church. The request was for the celebration of our Brother, Fr. SK Ricardo Hernandez, Colonel, USAF Ret. For his 50th anniversary of Ordination. These Sir Knights are answering the call to Charity, Fraternity, Unity and Patriotism. We, all Fourth Degree members are called. Won t you join us next time we re called?
