1 THE GOOD KNIGHT JANUARY GRAND KNIGHT S MESSAGE FR ANTHONY MONTESINOS COUNCIL 5086 Brother Knights: *As we conclude Advent and celebrate the birth of our Lord, we gather at home in the spirit of welcome, forgiveness, and generosity. Fellow Knights, that same spirit abounds at each meeting when two or more knights greet each other with VIVAT JESUS, a statement of the true meaning of Merry Christmas. My wish is that this spirit imbues our effort to support our parish, priests, community, nation, and all of God s creation through the coming year and continues to be blessed with success. *Our latest Breakfast and Santa was really exciting as we hosted 130 parishioners from 8:30 to 12:30 on Sunday December 8 th. Jennifer and Chief Elf Sean Flood toiled in support of Bob Santa Corley. Vinnie Carbonaro successfully eluded pancake flipping duty with repetitive excuse Hospitalized. He ll need to work on a new one for January. My thanks to Pat Carbonaro for stepping in and providing an impromptu lesson on pancake management. *Welcome to our new 1 st Degree Knights, Adrian Donnelly and Gregg Vankovich, exemplified at our first 1 st degree of Continue recruiting, please. We always need good men. *To sustain and enrich our faith, Knights, please consider attending Building Men of Faith to be held in Columbia in March, cost is $25. Also in Columbia, on January 11, we will march in support of Right to Life. The bus ride will cost you $10. Please contact Brother John Kost as soon as possible. *Congratulations to Brother Knights James Wharton and Randy Bowers for their awards as Knight of the Month for October and November, respectively. Congratulations to the families of Brother Knight Mike Aldridge for October, Brother Knight Randy Bowers for November, and Brother Knight Charles VanDemark for December as Family of the Month. A sincere Thank You to Brother Knight Ray Burzon for his artful and timely work in providing those awards on behalf of his council. *We will again need volunteers for the January 20 dinner. We will learn of the projected date for the February dinner and the mechanics of our initial joint project with the Columbiettes. Our Grand Knight s message continued opportunities continue to work for the benefit of our Parish. My best wishes to you all. We had a really good turn-out, and even had some new faces. Thanks again to all. *Couple of reminders for the New Year. --On January 11 th, in Columbia, SC is the Right to Life March. --January One is our due date for the Assembly dues. Please send check to Faithful Comptroller Charlie VanDemark. --February 14 & 15 is the 4 th Degree Exemplification in Columbia. What a special installation it will be. Our brand new Exemplification Team will be in place. These Sir Knights have dedicated many, many hours of personal study time to make this happen. Please come out and support this new beginning. *Let us continue to keep all of those Brother Knights and their families who are in need in our prayers. *Thanks again to all Sir Knights for everything that all of you do. *I would like to wish all Sir Knights a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year. *Our next meeting will be on January the 21st. 4 Page Four THE GOOD KNIGHT JANUARY PRO-LIFE NEWS BUS TO STATE MARCH FOR LIFE ON JANUARY 11, Grand Strand Citizens for Life will again provide a bus to the State March for Life in Columbia on Saturday, January 11,. The bus will leave the Walmart Shopping Center on 544/ByPass 17 at 6:30 AM. Pick up in Myrtle Beach is at 7:00 AM in the old Myrtle Square Shopping Center across from the Convention Center. Pick up in Conway is at 7:30 AM at Belks on Highway 501. Please note that pickup points are the same as they have been in the past. If you wish to go you must make reservations by calling Lori Videan at or John Kost on A total payment of $10. is required to reserve your seat and pay for your fare. Make checks out to GSCL. ANNUAL PRAYER VIGIL FOR LIFE ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, This year s Prayer Vigil will be held at The Christian Church on 2012 Burcale Road at 7:15 PM on Friday, January 24 th. This inter-denominational event is sponsored by Grand Strand Citizens for Life and will have Pastors from seven Churches on the Grand Strand leading prayers for greater Respect for Life from conception to natural death. All are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served immediately after the service. There is no charge for this event that marks the anniversary of Roe v Wade in Over 50 million babies have been legally aborted in the past 41 years.
