When he asked before the performance if the audience would listen for an hour, I said they would stay for even more. They were mesmerized. After the performance everyone enjoyed the delicious and plentiful sweets and snacks presented by our members. The members who are going will be happy to take it to Orlando for you. Be sure to wrap it so it arrives safely. I want to take this opportunity to again thank all of you who so kindly helped me with both shows, the local and District 10. It was a pleasure working with all of you. You have all summer to work on your entries for next year. I am looking forward to another great event. So start early and enter as many as you can. I am already working on my entries. There will be some craft books for you at the next business meeting. Please feel free to help yourself to whatever ones you want. Joan White, chairman Installation The installation of new officers will be held on May 8 and I have been asked to be the installing officer. I want to ask those of you who will still be in town to please attend this meeting/ luncheon. Almost 100 BWC members and guests attended the all-gershwin program by pianist Al Guastafeste. For 80 minutes, Al held the audience spellbound as he talked about Gershwin s life and introduced each composition. Starting with Swanee, Gershwin s first hit in 1919, and ending with Rhapsody in Blue, which Al played from memory, the performance showcased Al s virtuoso talent. It was little wonder the audience was on its feet begging for more. A hugely successful champagne reception afterwards rounded out this memorable event.
