We are truly blessed to have such dedicated chairwomen and officers. The First Annual Fashion Show is quickly taking shape under the watchful eyes of Lucy Salinas and Sherrie Green. One fabulous auction item is a week in a beautiful ocean-side condo in Palm Beach, Florida! Watch our website for even more. A very warm welcome to our newest members and to the 5 new members who will be pledged in February! That will put us at 85 members! We welcome all the women 18 years and older to become new members. Our first bake sale was a huge success thanks to all our extraordinary bakers. We raised $693.35! Our next big project is to provide lunch for the Holy Trinity Habitat for Humanity workers on March 2 nd. Look for more on that from the chairs. The other exciting news is the Catholic Daughters of Texas Convention right here in San Antonio on April 4 th through the 11 th. Registration forms and agendas are on our website. March 23 1 st Annual Champagne Brunch and Family Fashion Show at 10:30 a.m. Need volunteers to decorate, donate themed gift baskets, and model! CONTACT: Lucy at lmsalinas@satx.rr.com Prayer Corner Submitted by Cynthia Gdula,Spiritual Advisior Mary sees a need and wants Jesus to do something about it. She knows full well that only a miraculous intervention will solve the problem. She wants the divine in him to respond to her request, but the human nature of Jesus responds first: He doesn't want to reveal his divinity with this kind of miracle. He's eager to heal souls, not fill empty wine jars. "Woman, how does your concern affect me?" he says. "My hour has not yet come." This is like saying, "I respect your request, holy Daughter of Eve, but think about how a miracle in this situation would affect the ministry I'm about to start! People will come to me for party favors and other earthly pleasures, but I want to give them eternal salvation." We Catholics like to use this scripture as faith-building evidence of the Blessed Mother's ability to help us. We see her in this story as a mother who can get for us whatever we want from Jesus, because she can make him change his mind. Jesus told her no, but the conflict was resolved her way. Mary won, Jesus lost. Isn't this how we view conflicts? It's not resolved until someone's a winner and someone else is a loser. Therefore, when we make requests of God and he doesn't give us what we want, we feel like we're the loser, so we pray harder, trying to make God become the loser. And when that doesn't work, we ask the Blessed Mother to side with us and influence her Son against his will. But God wants us to be the winner from the start! He always wants what's best for us. Mary knew this when she told the wine stewards, "Do whatever my Son tells you." Conflicts are not inherently bad. Conflicts become sacred opportunities for wonderful solutions when we entrust them to God. Mary trusted that Jesus cared about the people at the party. Jesus trusted that the Father cared about both the people and his ministry. It was a win-win situation. How do you feel when you lose an argument? How hard do you work at making the other person lose? Will you trust God to take good care of you even if you feel like a loser? Think of a conflict (a hypothetical one or a real one from your past or present) and suggest an ideal solution. Is anyone a loser in this scenario? If you were to truly trust God, what might he do to resolve the conflict so that everyone benefits? Our Lady of the Holy Trinity ~ February 2013~ Page 4

6 By Lucy Salinas, Fashion Show Chairperson We are moving forward with our 1st Annual Champagne Brunch & Fashion Show. It is scheduled for March 23, Lina Ramirez is selling the tickets at a price of $25.00 per person. The cost provides brunch & dessert, cocktails, tea/coffee and a fashion show! We will also have a live and silent auction. You will not be disappointed!!! Soooo excited! Speaking of fashion show.vicki Pfullman is chairing the decorating committee. If you have an eye for color and décor, call her. Your time and talent is valuable. If you have some time to provide, Vicki at vpfullman@satx.rr.com Tickets for the Fashion Show are $25. Each CDA member should have received a ticket to sell or purchase. For additional tickets, contact Lina Ramirez at linalramirez@hotmail.com or Our silent auction will be comprised of "themed" baskets. What we are asking is that CDA members volunteer to provide items for these baskets. You can provide as much or as little as you would like. You can do this yourself or team up with other members, friends, and/or family members. We ask that you select a theme basket or come up with your own. You must contact me and inform me of which basket you have selected or the themed basket you would like to provide. IMPORTANT: Should you decide you want to solicit retailers for donations, you must submit your list of retailers to me before you begin. We must verify these retailers have not already been solicited and/or have donated. We are maintaining a master list of all retailers/donors. If you are successful in obtaining a donation, obtain the donors name, phone number, and address. We will follow-up with a donation and/or charitable letter (tax purposes) and a copy of our CDA pamphlet. All donors are will be considered sponsors. As a theme basket is selected by a member(s), an will go out to all members to update everyone. If more than one member selects a basket, I will place these members in contact with each other so that they may coordinate their contributions. Ladies, keep in mind we remain open to any suggestions you may have. Please note that some of these baskets have already been selected by members, this is not to say you cannot participate. Once all selections have been submitted to me, I will place you all in contact and ask that one of you take the lead so as to not duplicate the work.
