Everyone danced the night away to some of our favorite music played by DJ Tootie Brown of North Myrtle Beach. Great food was enjoyed by all. Our 50/50 was $41.00 and Tootie Brown won the pot. Our Christmas dance will be held on December 1st. Roy Childress will be our DJ and always does a fantastic job. Margaret and Linda have chosen a great selection of hors d evours that we will enjoy. We hope you will plan to come and start your holiday celebration with your shag friends. If you have a door prize that you would like to donate to be given along with the 50/50 drawing please contact Margaret Inman, Linda Leggett, Greg Price or Gordon Hester. This is the dance that the door admission is a $10.00 unwrapped toy or $10.00 per person. Let s try to collect as many toys as possible for the Foster Kids Christmas Toy Drive. Department of Social Services has 285 kids in our county that need our help so give generously and put a smile on their faces. We will also have the drawing for the gun raffle at the December dance. The prize will be either an AR15 rifle, a 12-gauge Stoger auto shotgun or a $ gift certificate to Bryan s Gun Shop. If you don t have your ticket yet you can get one from any board member or call Gordon Hester at or Greg Price at Tickets are $10.00 each or 6 for $ You can t win if you don t have a ticket. Sponsorship money collected for our golf tournament was $ We will be presenting a check to Southeastern Hospice House at the Festival of Trees that is held December 5. We thank all of our sponsors for giving to this worthy cause. All of our members that gave, a big thank you. I would like to thank our members for allowing me to serve as your President this past year. Thank you to our board and committee members for their service also. We are based in the Lumberton, Robeson County, North Carolina area, but our shagging membership extends many miles in each direction. Our purposes are to enjoy beach and shag music, Carolina shag dancing and fun with friends. Guests are always welcome to attend our meetings and events. As you find out more about shaggers, shagging, and our shag club, you will want to join our group. Go down Elm Street and follow the numbered Streets to 3 rd St. Turn right onto 3 rd Street and Adelio s will be on your left with plenty of parking across the street. Come early and enjoy dinner from their menu. *** See page 5 for alternate directions. Shag Dance Lessons Great News!! Jesse L. Davis and Sandra Smith are teaching shag dance lessons. Classes are held on Monday evenings at the Pine Street Activity Center. New classes will begin the first Monday of each month. 5 THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS Please remember the following people who need our prayerful support: Larry Pope, on the recent passing of his mother, Sarah Pope; and Cindy Giaccone on the recent passing of her son, Matthew Giaccone. May they Rest in Peace. Also for the return to good health for Terry Krotzer, Steve Dawson; Steve Floyd; Marilyn Pope; Hazel Jenkins, mother of Gwenn Price and Beverly Britt; Martha Gibson, mother of Brenda Jackson; Sarah Farmer, sister of Marilyn Pope Judy Collins, Hospice Care. Let us share what we can to help folks throughout the area. Thanks to all who bring donations of food to benefit the Church & Community Center Food Bank. All donations are always greatly appreciated. Canned meat, soups, canned meals, fruit, rice, pasta, any non-perishables and juices are always needed.
