Prior to opening of Meeting: (1.) PGK Bernie Kuta presented awards to the winners of our Assembly s essay contest: Michela Byrne (first place winner); Dominic Byrne (2 nd place winner) (2.) Jillian Joseph gave an excellent summary of her recent trip through True Impact Ministries to Uganda. Both new Knights got up and told us about themselves. The minutes of preceding meeting were: Approved as published Pennies for Heaven: collected Chaplain s Report (Fr. Frank): (1.) Fr. discussed the good news of our upcoming catechesis classes (classes begin in September ; grades Kindergarten thru 12!) involving the cleaning up of the classrooms. The bad news is that our council will need to clean out our kitchen niche area involving our two cabinets and beer keg dispenser to allow more room for stored tables and chairs. This needs to be done in the near future; our warden (Carlo Turchiano) will be the contact person. (Per Rich Bowers, the officers need to come up with another storage solution for our kitchen wares as soon as possible and he is open to any ideas our council members might have for this). (2.) Father discussed the 2 night St. Mark men s retreat August 28 th -30 th, 2015 at El Tesoro de Los Angeles in Woodland Park, CO. The theme will be men as sons of God; men as lovers of their

wives and husbands and men as fathers. There is space for 30 men to attend in a 9,000 square foot log cabin. The question was raised earlier as to whether we will be able to enjoy adult beverages and the answer is: yes, they will be available, along with hors d oeuvres prepared by Father! The grounds consist of over 80 acres, so there will be plenty of opportunity to walk the grounds in quiet contemplation. Father will be available for confessions and he encourages us, as participants, to relax, and enjoy quiet time with God. Mass will be offered by Fr. Frank Saturday, and we will plan to eat dinner Saturday night at a nearby restaurant. There will otherwise be group-prepared meals. (3.) The form 1295 was completed and signed and will be sent to the Supreme Council office prior to the deadline of August 15 th. The findings of this report were as follows: (1.) The council has 256 members on the official roster (268 as of today); the GK and FS are appropriately managing membership changes via the online Member Management application provided by the Supreme Council. (2.) The financial accounting is accurate and matches bank records; the council has cash/investments valued at $62, this is an increase of $15, since one year ago. (3.) The process for collecting funds was not well established and is being refined. There was at least one instance (in particular the ACH deposits from the Formal) where funds were collected directly into the council bank account without recording by the FS as required by the council bylaws. Recommendation: separate the FS and Treasurer duties regarding funds collection and bank account management. Confirm and use a process where all funds that are collected are appropriately given to the FS by activities chairmen. The treasurer is not to be the receiver of funds from the membership. It is suggested that the use of alternative processes or means (other than cash or checks) for collection of monies due the council be reconsidered to maintain the integrity of the checks and balance system (Trustees quote Article VII-funds, Section 1 of our council bylaws) (4.) There is not the use of dual signatures on checks as required by our Council bylaws (Trustees quote Article VII-Funds-section 2 of our council bylaws) Recommendation: Make arrangements to have every check signed by two officers and add the DGK to the bank records as an authorized signer. (5.) Bills are not presented to the Recorder during or before meetings as required by our Council bylaws (Trustees quote Article VII-Funds, section 4 of our bylaws). Recommendation: Continue to have the FS collect all bills; each individual bill (claim for reimbursement) must be read to the Council during a business meeting either by the Recorder or the FS. It is the opinion of the Trustees that it is the duty of the FS to verify the appropriateness of bills and timeliness of payment is needed; therefore we do not require referral of bills to the Board of Trustees. Ceremonials: (Keith Lowry); a First Degree was held tonight and we brought in two new members. The next First Degree will tentatively be held in two months (October) Lecturers Report (Good of the Order) (Christopher Harden): Christopher talked about choices that we all have in life including (1.) the choice to love and be with God (2.) that Baptism is the 1 st choice of coming towards Jesus. He encouraged us all to think about the people in life we are closest to and to consider how many of these people have made that choice to be close to God; we need to share our belief with God with these people and be better evangelists. Christopher hopes to give us the tools to accomplish this in future months as our new lecturer this fraternal year. Ad Hoc Committee: no report Committee Reports

Committee Chair Tim Mosholder Membership: We have no new membership applications; there is a new 4 th Degree Exemplification scheduled in Montrose on August 15 th as well a 2 nd /3 rd Degree hosted by Council 6905 in Evergreen on Saturday, September 19 th, Our Council is still planning on hosting a major degree at St. Mark in November. Keith Lowry: read a transfer application for Fr. Greg Bierbaum into our council; an acclamation motion was made by PKG Kuta to accept Fr. Greg s transfer into our council! Church (John Park-) (absent) but reminder from Tim: (1.) K of C Retreat at El Tesoro de Los Angles is still scheduled for August 28 th, 29 th and 30 th. We have 30 spots available for Knights (or male Catholics who want to attend the retreat if there are not 30 Knights). $100 cost is due NOW. Make checks out to Knights of Columbus #1498 and leave in Knights mailbox or give check directly to Bernie Kuta or to our FS Ed Belen. Youth (Steve Myer): (absent) However Tim Mosholder mentioned that the Soccer Challenge will be held September 27 th at Redstone Park with a 11am setup-12 pm and the actual tournament from 12-2 pm. Please contact Steve to help out with this program. Family: (Bernie Kuta)-: August 1 st was our last First Saturday dinner; we had average attendance: (50-65) for dinner and we had plenty of help: 9 volunteers and 29 volunteer hours; we cooked 66 brats, 30 hamburgers and 30 hotdogs; we used ¼ of a keg of Shocktop beer as well as ½ bottle of wine. There was a low level of advertisement for this event and competing events, including the K of C brewery tour. Council Expense was: $249.58; we collected $99.00 (verified by FS Ed Belen) with a net loss of $ Bernie is looking to form a committee to help on a regular basis; the next First Saturday dinner will be held on Labor Day Weekend (Saturday, September 5 th, after the 4:00 pm Mass) and this family dinner will lead into the World Meeting of Families celebration, with our Pope Francis coming to Philadelphia. Bernie welcomes any other potential family activity ideas we might come up with. The chili cook-off in the Fall (October 10 th ) will provide funds for a 3 rd seminarian. This will be our last outdoor First Saturday Dinner. Fr. Frank suggested our council again contact our two current seminarians and try to encourage a two- way communication with them, by inviting them to our various family functions. Community: Mark Smith: our next Tootsie Roll Campaign for people with Intellectual Disabilities starts in late September and into October and he needs plenty of volunteer help to pass out 9 cases of Tootsie Rolls. Mark also mentioned a Golf Tournament on Friday, September 11 th at the Spring Valley Golf Club in Elizabeth, CO sponsored by Ave Maria parish. Registration starts at 7:00 am and the tournament starts at 8:30 am with a 1:00 pm lunch and awards at 1:30 pm. The cost is $125/individual and $500 for a foursome; $200 for a hole sponsor; $15 for lunch. Online registration is at: parkerknights.org Standing Committee/The Formal: John Park is leading next year s formal (Tim Mosholder gave the report) The planning committee consists of: the Staley s, Cahill s, Lowry s, Hardin s and Park families. The Marriot Hotel in the Denver Tech Center is being considered to host the Gala as well as Columbine Country Club (as it is now available again). There will be a planning committee kickoff meeting at the Park s home on September 19 th at

7:30 pm. Tim mentioned that it is not too soon to look for auction items to donate. A discussion resulted from Jim Butler stating that he felt that a hotel venue pulls away from auction items due to increased cost to participants and hence loss of revenue; a hotel venue also may encourage more alcohol use. Camping Trip: (Tim Mosholder) recap: trip was July th, at Wolford Reservoir (about 45 minutes West of Lake Dillon)( US Hwy 40 Kremmling, CO 80459). Roughly 100 people attended. Everyone put in a full effort and the trip went well. The Wolford proprietors were very accommodating to our needs and the consensus of those attending was very positive for a return visit there. The Mass was wonderful with Fr. Bierbaum. Per Greg Staley, Wolford promoted more of a community atmosphere, mainly because of the geographic layout. Bernie Kuta has already reserved Lake Dillon for next year with a deposit, but he can get part of the deposit back (except for $470). GK Bowers encouraged those present to think about which location we would like to hold next summer s campout and a vote will be taken at the September meeting. One alternative may be to alternate between the two sites. Peach Sales: are going well; ½ of our allotment were sold as of last weekend. This coming weekend is the last time to sign up for cases; Friday August 14 th is the date of the delivery. (cost: $20/1/2 box or $35 for a full box). Council Director: (Eric Obergfell): Eric thanked all those who helped at the July pancake breakfast. The next pancake breakfast is August 16 th after the 8 am Mass Pro-life: (Chet Elder): Chet stressed how abortion is a mortal sin and not a political issue. The Colorado Catholic Bishops have suggested to all priests that they encourage parishioners to especially pray at this time of great need. Based on this recommendation, Fr. Frank is scheduling on August 27 th at 7:00 pm, a Mass, especially dedicated to praying against the sins of Planned Parenthood followed by the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament all night, up until the 8 am Friday, August 28 th 8 am Mass. There will be sign-ups for 2 families per slot, for adoration all night on the 27 th. Unfinished Business: --Terry Sandrock: Terry is cooking for the Hydrocephalus Walk-A-thon on August 9 th at Redsotone Park in Highlands Ranch. Terry needs 3-4 Knights to help from 9-1 PM cooking and serving folks. He is looking for Knights to assist in cooking roughly 800 hot dogs. NEW BUSINESS: Jim Butler: Jim is on the parish finance council and has been asked to have our council consider stripping and re-waxing the floors on the lower levels of our church. Our council has apparently provided the manpower and/or finances to do this in the past. He has received a bid to do this job for $1,225 and he proposed our council finance this venture. Carlo Turchiano and several other Knights seconded this motion. GK Bowers deferred a final vote until our September meeting due to the fact the proposal is over the $250 maximum donation, as detailed in our council bylaws. GK Bowers: Rich proposed our council make a $250 donation to: the Southern Colorado Youth for Christ organization for youth who have been incarcerated and are troubled. A second was made by Carlo Turchiano and the donation was approved unanimously by the council. 4th Degree Report: (Dave Barnett): There may be no August Assembly meeting due to conflicts with the 7:00 pm August 27 th Mass especially dedicated to praying against the sins of Planned Parenthood followed by the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament all night. He may schedule another date in August (to be determined). A Rosary will be prayed before every meeting in the future. The installation of 4 th Degree Officers will be held on August 15 th at 11 am downstairs in the St. Mark room. He asked Assembly members to please attend and to wear tuxedos with social baldrics. Installation takes about 1 hour. Family is invited; no reception or refreshments after the installation.

Field Agent s Report: (Trent Davis): our great past field agent, Jayme Sanford contacted GK Bowers, thanking us for our business and mentioned that he has just signed two council members up for benefits which will count towards insurance members for Star Council for the Fraternal Year. Our new field agent, Trent Davis was introduced and he let us know that he is here to help us with any fraternal benefits and that he will be contacting each of us to arrange meetings to update us about these benefits. District Deputy Report (John Lynn): John installed our council officers before the meeting and he relinquished his time to speak, due to the lateness and length of our council meeting.
