Let uss strive to see those around us who are soo often overlooked. So many of those lesss fortunate ones fade into the backgroundd because it is painful for us to look uponn their misfortune. Well... it is supposed to hurt! We are all here to do Hiss bidding, not our own. Lord, give us eyes to see that which wee might rather not see. Give us ears to hear the crying all around us. We are to follow His example. During this advent season, may we all do more of what Jesus has instructed uss to do! And also, let us all seek reconciliation with the Lord, even when we can't think of anything to say, because none of us are perfect like He is, that One who gives us His Grace. I truly hope everyone will attend the Christmas party, especially our new members! Thanks to all those whoo supported us at the Thanksgiving Mass, especially Fr. Sushil Tudu. It was an honor in deed to have one of our ownn Assembly 4 th Degree Priests celebrate Mass for us. Pleasee do all you can to help with our stings. It means a lot to so many who attend those services that we serve at. Andd we, who do st, are blessed indeed for so doing. Continue to carry the Light of Christ during this season, remember... 2 CAPTAIN S CORNER Fellow Sir Knights As Knights of the Fourth Degree we are knownn for our primary purpose, which is to promote demonstrate the Patriotism that exists within our Catholic Community. Our pride in self as Catholic men was demonstrated again this year by our community service participat tion in the annual Veteran s Day Parade, paying tribute to all of our country's greatest heroes. This year for the first time I participated in the Annual Veteran s Day Parade held on Friday, November 11, The theme of this year s parade was Honoring Blue God, Starring Vietnam Veteran Families. The parade rolled through downtown n Fort Worth featured more than 5,000 participants ncluding veterans, active military, Junior ROTC groups, school bs, civic patriotic organizations. This year s Gr marshal was Shannon Spake of the National League of POW/MIA Families. This experience was very special to me because many of the Sir Knights who participated are veterans themselves. Thank you to all my Brother Knights Veterans who helped or participated in creating a day of appreciation. Our Christmas Party will be held at Mancuso's Italian Ristorante located at 9500 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, on Sunday evening, December 18 th h, at 6:00pm. Our dinner willl consist of lasagna, chicken fettuccine e alfredo, salad, breadsticks, tea or soft drink, coffee. We will also provide a delicious cake for dessert. Sir Knights, pleasee come dressed inn your tuxedo social baldric, d Lady Knights please dress formally inn evening wear. This year, we encourage all attendees to join in a "White Elephant Giftt Exchange," which should be a lot of fun. Those who want to participate, please bring a wrapped gift minimumm $10.00 each per person to play. Myy wifee is planning to have photo props forr pictures. The price for the meal is $25.00 perr person, all reservations d payments must be received no laterr than December 12th. 3 GWA1089 Sir Knights at Veterans Day Parade THANKSGIVING MEMORIAL MASS M Again this year, we had a good turnout for our Annual Thanksgivingg Memorial Mass, held at the Discalced Carmelite Convent located in Arlington. We especially Fr. Sushil Tudu for celebrating this year at this special occasion of remembra ance. Following the Mass, our Honor Guardd processes to the front, where Lawrencee Bierschenk reads thee name of the Sirr Knights who have diedd since the last Memorial Mass, Bill Mechura rings the bell for each one. Each year a Chalice is also prepared, that is engraved with the names of those same Sir Knights. This chalice iss presented to a priest, with thee understing that he will offer upp remembrance each time he uses that chalice at Mass. When that priest cann be present,, it is presented at thiss ceremony. This year we chose to honorr Fr. Nghia Nguyen; since he was not able to celebrate, he will be presentedd thiss chalice at special occasion. Three Sir Knights were rememberedd at this Memorial, with names engravedd on that chalice: Jim Byrd, Joe Evanss Charles Pelletier. Come Be Honored Page 3
