Johnn became a member of General Worth Assemblyy in September His participation as a member of the Color Corp his outstingg service as our Faithful Comptrollerr leaves us with many fondd memories. John, his family, faced his last battle against illness courageou usly gracefully, inspiring all who knew of thee struggle. There is a gaping hole in the heart of General Worthh Assembly that is only filled by knowing that John is in Heaven. Hee along with Venerable Michael McGivney, all the angels, all thee saints, are pleading for ourr intentions with Jesus Christ. The Sir Knight that steps into the role of Faithful Comptrollerr has big shoes to fill. The position of Faithful Comptroller is one of the two Bonded Positions ($5,000) in the Assembly, appointed byy Supreme for a three year term, is a position of trustt great responsibility. Some of the duties include the timely billing of membership dues, updating Supreme Member Management database, processing of bills in concert with the Faithful Purser. We are very thankful that Sir Knight David Siebold hass stepped forward as cidate for this important office. My thanks to Faithful Captain Sir Knight Lady Donna for a successful Ladies Appreciation Dinnerr Saturday, March 21. Fifty Knights Ladies enjoyed good foodd better company at thee Olive Garden in West Fort Worth. Ourr Ladies received a vase of roses, a wind chime, the collectivee gratitude of all Sir Knightss for the important roll you play in ourr lives. Our furtherr appreciation to Lady Lynn Gallagher, Lady Pat McWilliams, Lady Mary Agnes Ward,, Faithful Friar Sir Knight Jerry Ward, for the gift of their company. Past Faithful Navigator Sir Knight Francis Skiffingtonn passed away Sunday, 12, 2015, at age 92. Frankk served as Faithful Navigator He retired from thee U.S. Air Force wass a World War II Korean Warr veteran. Page 1

John has passed on but his spirit, demeanor, everlastingg image will remain with us forever. John's presence will be very apparent when where ever we are gathered. Thee wonderful very positivee attitude that Sir Knight John Youngg showed advocated to all he came inn contact with I am sure will bee duplicated time time again by all who were privileged to call John Friend.. 3 AMERICAN WAY AWARDS My personal thanks to everyone who helped make the American Way Awards (AWA) a success. Several Sir Knights, more experienced than I, commented that this was the best AWA event in memory. General Worth Assembly expresses its appreciation to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Louis #209 for their continued participation support. Color Corp members, under the leadership of DCCC Sir Knight Bill White, presented the colors helped everyone to safely ascend descend those stairs, did an outsting job. In addition, my sincere personal thanks to all Sir Knights who greeted each of the award recipients, helped them register, guidedd them to their seat, took their pictures, presented their awards. Your collective efforts made this year s AWA a great event! Faith Navigator Bruce Mallory The guest speaker for this year was Father Pio Maria Hoffmann, who is with the Community of the Franciscan n Friars of the Renewal that operate St. Benedict s Mission on Cypress Avenuee in near East Fort Worth. The heart of the Franciscan Friars work at St. Benedict s mission is not to duplicate the physical material services that exist in the area, but to address the loneliness, loss of dignity, lack of love suffered by those in poverty. HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD SAMANTHAA KONEN The recipient of the 2015 Humanitarian Award was 13-year-old Samantha Konen for her two-year Right to Life lobbying effort on behalf of the unborn. Samantha decided to become ann activist when she was 11 year old. Herr mother took her to a 40 Days for Lifee kickoff event at a local abortion facilityy in Fort Worth to participate in thee sidewalk prayer vigils. Her parents gavee her background on how abortionn became legal, how government workss how legislation becomes law. Samantha decided to send h writtenn addressed letters to all 165 Texass State Federal lawmakers. COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD The River Oaks Police Department, led by Chieff Avin Carter, was selectedd as the 2015 Community Service Awardd winner as a result of the following. Officer Nathan Wilson arrived 1:000 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014, to a burning house on Churchill Roadd in River Oaks, where he learned thee owner, John Sauer, a stroke victim confined to a wheelchair, was still trapped in the house. Through a small window, Nathan spotted the man lyingg facee down on the floor hollering, Helpp me! Help me! He broke the windoww with his tactical baton recognizedd the man could not make it to thee opening. Seconds later, Officer Tim Whitley Sgt. Steven Nance arrived. Thee smoke was heavy, the heat extreme, when Tim Whitely crawled intoo window of the house, lifted Sauer to hiss fellow officers, collectively theyy extracted the 250 pound man to safety. Officer Whitley suffered minor injuriess in the rescue. Fort Worth Fire Department arrivedd a few minutes later, taking 30 minutess to bring the fire under control. Thee house was destroyed. Page 3
