3 June 2017 Frm the Grand Knight Brther Knights, I can t believe hw fast time flies. I knw that is a very ppular expressin but that is nly because f hw true it is and hw it applies t everyne. In sme ways I can t believe that the tw years that I have spent as Grand Knight will be cming t an end. Even thugh being GK is a little time cnsuming it is als very fulfilling, much like having a child. Speaking f having a child, I can t believe that my daughter is ging t be turning five years ld in the middle f August. We as parents have decided, based n tw years f pre-schl, that she is ready fr Kindergarten in the fall. Recently we attended the Kindergarten rientatin where we learned abut the upcming schl year and gt t watch her g fr a ride n a big yellw schl bus fr the very first time. It almst seems like yesterday at the family picnic when I had shared the news with Father Tny and thers in attendance that we were expecting. Brthers, time des fly, s d yurselves and thers a favr and make the mst f each mment yu pssibly can. Yu may find that culd be a little time cnsuming, but it will als be very fulfilling. Legarski, Chaplain Summer is traditinally a time fr many different things, depending n hw we want t spend it. Usually it is a time fr rest, relaxatin, vacatin, r catching-up n lng delayed prjects arund the huse, etc. This is f curse what summer is fr: a time t vacate, renew, refresh, rest, etc. In all f this, we must remember the imprtance f keeping ur faith central t ur daily life s rutine. We can never take time ff frm it. On the cntrary, it is a gd idea and wise use f time if we use the summer as a time t renew and strengthen ur relatinship with ur Lrd. This can be dne in several ways. First f all, we must remember t participate in Mass when we are n vacatin. The Eucharist is a tremendus help in ur desire t renew ur faith and ur lve f the Christ we serve. Indeed it is central t such an initiative. Our free time shuld als include spiritual reading particularly the Sacred Scripture. Inspiratinal reading abut the lives f the saints r the Church s activity and challenges at different perids thrughut histry are als an excellent way deepen ur relatinship with Lrd. Mre than anything else, we need t keep prayer as a daily part f ur summer rutine. This is the way in which we stay in cmmunicatin with Gd and allw him t speak t us thrugh the slitude f ur hearts. The best way t achieve these spiritual bjectives and gals is f curse, by making a spiritual retreat, either with a grup r as an individual. If yu haven t already planned t make a Retreat this summer, perhaps nw is a gd time t d s, while the summer is just beginning. A planned retreat prvides us with nt nly a sufficient blck f time, but als a structure within which t fcus n ur life and relatinship with Gd. I strngly encurage all brther Knights t make a Retreat a part f yur summer experience. In this way, we can rest the bdy and exercise the sul. May yu and yur lved nes enjy a happy, blessed, refreshing, and safe summer.
