Take attendance. 7:00-7:20 REVIEW Chse an activity r activities frm the fllwing ideas: Review previus lessns. Ask questins regarding the last few lessns using the We Are Review Questins and Jesus is A thrugh Z Review Questins (in KPH binder). Reward crrect answers with Starbursts, etc. Play baseball with the review questins. Have the entire class play as ne team, trying t beat a scre f 20 runs (their recrd), r divide them int tw teams and see which team can scre the mst runs. An incrrect answer equals an ut. After three uts, it s the ther team s turn t bat (r if playing with the entire class as ne team, clear the bases f runners after three uts). Make sure each team gets an equal number f at bats. Have anther teacher keep track f uts and pints n the marker bard. Play musical chairs. When the music stps, ask the player withut a chair a review questin. If the student answers crrectly, he r she gets t stay in the game. Divide the grup int pairs. Give each pair ne f the mini psters with adjectives and titles f Jesus (i.e., the A sheet r the B sheet, etc.; in KPH binder). Have each team wrk tgether t memrize every adjective r title n their sheet. Then have them cme up frnt and recite them t the class. Have a student cme t the frnt f the class and pick a letter (A-Z) ut f a bag and then try t remember all the adjectives/titles that g with that letter. Play A-M r N-Z BINGO with adjectives/titles. Review ther previusly memrized items. Use cardbard chart and cards with bks f the Bible, as well as ther prps. One Gd, Sin and Repentance, etc., verses that students have been wrking n. Sing verses set t sng Bks f the Old and New Testaments Divisins f Old and New Testaments

(T cut dwn n nise and cnfusin, tw grups may leave the rm t practice verses in the hallway, stairwell, r anther classrm.) Students will wrk n memrizing dctrinal verses. Each student will have his/her wn list r bklet t wrk frm, cntaining a chart fr teachers t initial as students qute the verses ne at a time, tw at a time, etc. (Teachers: Please read instructins n the bttm Bible memry wrk charts r in the frnt f the bklets.) 3 Intrductin During the first part f the year we learned abut Jesus titles and adjectives frm A thrugh Z. Refer t the Jesus is A thrugh Z bard. Nw we are learning abut sme f the things that the Bible says we Christians are. Refer t the We Are display bard. All f these things are metaphrs (cmparisns) that describe a little bit f what we are t Jesus and t thers. Listen t Galatians 3:26 fr anther metaphr describing Christians: Read Galatians 3:26 frm yur Bible. What are we? (children f Gd) Shw and briefly discuss baby pictures. Babies are s cute and sweet and inncent. Parents lve and prtect and give lts f things t their children. Let s talk abut what it means t be Gd s child. Lessn Hw d yu becme Gd s child? (allw respnses) Remember what Galatians 3:26 said? (Let s read verse 27 t.) Have a student read Galatians 3:26-27 frm yur Bible. 4 Abba is what we call a term f endearment. It expresses lving affectin. Yu prbably dn t call yur father Father. What d yu call yur father? (Dad, Daddy, Papa, Pa, Pp, etc.) Kids, whether brn int a family r adpted, are heirs f their father. What des it mean t be an heir? (an heir inherits [will smeday be given] all the father s prperty) Since we re Gd s kids, we are His heirs. Listen t this: Read Rmans 8:17 frm yur Bible. With whm are we jint-heirs? (Christ) Jint heirs share the inheritance. What are we sharing with Christ? (suffering and glry) Yikes! We dn t necessarily want t inherit suffering. But the next verse says: Read Rmans 8:18 frm yur Bible. N matter hw difficult things are in this wrld r hw pr we are, we have the prmise f ne day inheriting everything that is ur Father s. And He wns it all! There s smething else we inherit frm ur Heavenly Father. What is smething abut the way yu lk r act that peple say is like yur earthly father? (eyes r ther facial features, hair, height, a certain ability, persnality, etc.) Jhn described sme characteristics that we have inherited frm ur Heavenly Father. Read 1 Jhn 3:1 frm yur Bible. 6 8:05-8:15 BIBLE SKILLS Use the Bks f the Bible display bard t pint things ut as yu ask these questins: Hw many bks are in the Bible? (66) Hw many bks are in the Old Testament? (39 [3 letters in the wrd Old and 9 letters in the wrd Testament = 39]) Hw many bks are in the New Testament? (27 [3 letters in the wrd New x 9 letters in the wrd Testament = 27]) Hand ut Bibles. Remind students t handle Bibles carefully and t help yunger students find verses. Open yur Bible as clse t the middle as pssible. Yu shuld be in Psalms. If nt, turn a few pages frward r backward and find Psalm 68:5. (Have a student read this verse alud.) What des fatherless mean? (nt having a father) Sme peple may nt knw their earthly father, r maybe he has mved away r died, but everyne can knw their Heavenly Father. Nw turn t the New Testament, twards the back f yur Bible, and find Luke 11: (Have a student [r students] read these verses alud.) Jesus asked several questins t make a pint: If a sn asked fr bread wuld his father give him a what? (stne) If a sn asked fr a fish, wuld his father give him a what? (serpent) If a sn asked fr an egg, wuld his father ffer him a what? (scrpin) N, n, and n! Our earthly fathers give us gd things. Much mre des ur Heavenly Father! Share with them sme things yu think make it great (being tld/read bedtime stries, being small enugh t be carried when yu re tired, getting mre gifts than the adults at Christmas, wearing cl Band-Aids, being able t swim in a blw-up pl in yur backyard, having summers ff, catching lightning bugs, etc.) Give each student a 10 great things abut being a kid activity sheet.
