Basic Truth: I can trust Gd n matter what. Befre kids arrive, spend a few minutes praying that Gd wuld help make the abstract cncept f treasures in heaven very real and cncrete fr yur few. Pray that yu wuld be able t facilitate an envirnment in which kids learn hw t make wise chices with their time, mney, and talents. Pray that kids wuld leave tday with sme tangible ways t live like they knw what really matters. Arrival Activities As children arrive, they have the ptin f chsing ne f the fllwing activities t participate in until Small Grup Cnnect starts. They may mve frm carpet t carpet at any time during Arrival Activities. 1. Clring Sheets 2. Verses t Knw Kids will spin the wheel t find a verse t lk up. 3. Games t Play This is a statin with different fun bard games t play. 4. Rck City Mural We ll create different murals n butcher paper each week based n what we re learning abut. 5. Get Yur Head in the Game Kids have 5 minutes t see hw many wrds they can create with lucky charms. Small Grup Cnnect (5 minutes) This is a brief time fr yu t welcme and cnnect with the children in yur grup and t intrduce visitrs t the rest f the grup. Feel free t ask a fun questin r share smething interesting abut yurself. Belw are sme Ice-Breaker questins t get cnversatin ging. This time helps ur children knw yu are glad they came and that yu want t get t knw them better. We als encurage yu t sit with yur grup during large grup time. Icebreaker Activity: Name an item frm the list belw and let kids share hw they wuld feel if they n lnger had that item. They can indicate their answers by standing if they wuld be very upset and sitting if they wuld nt be upset at all. Tw Masters [Talk abut Gd Bible Stry Review Applicatin Activity] Made t Explre: an activity that extends learning thrugh hands n experimentatin and discvery What Yu Need: Bible, 2 beach balls What Yu D: Give each f the kids a turn at picking up bth beach balls at the same time and carrying them acrss the rm. It s essentially an impssible task, but let them give it their best try. Read Matthew 6:24 and talk t the children abut the meaning f the verse. Pint ut that Gd says it s impssible fr mney t be ur favrite thing and Him t. Like the beach balls, we can nly hld nt ne at a time. [Make It Persnal] Kids treasures lk different than thse f an adult, but the chice t lve Gd r ur stuff is still the same. Tell the kids what yu d t make sure yu re living like yu knw what matters. Hw d yu put Gd first in ways that they can t? Then ask kids hw they can put Gd first t. (By making sure they d their GdTimes and read new stries in the Bible, by using the stuff they have t help thers and shw kindness t them, by frgiving friends and siblings when they break r lse smething f urs.) What Yu Say: Gd has given each f us s much, and it s kay t enjy all the great stuff yu have. But when yu begin t lve yur stuff mre than yu lve Gd, it s like trying t hld nt tw beach balls at the same time. Yu will have t chse ne r the ther. Gd wants t be the ne yu pick. He wants yu t remember that everything yu have belngs t Him. Thank Him fr giving s much t yu. [Bttm Line] Live like yu knw what really matters. One f the ways t d that is by making Gd yur NUMBER ONE and lving Him FIRST and MOST. Appreciate and take care f the stuff Gd s given yu, but LOVE Him mre than all thse things. 2. What s Missing? Place the Stuff Cards ne at a time inside the circle f the Hula-Hp. Explain that if smething can be brken, stlen, lst, r end up in the trash, it s nt a heavenly treasure. Heavenly treasures are given t us when we use what we have fr Gd. Tell the kids t take a clse lk at the cards, and then have them clse their eyes. Remve ne r tw cards and let kids pen their eyes and guess what s missing. Dn t replace the cards after yu remve them. Play until all the cards are gne. What Yu Say: Eventually everything that was inside this hp will be gne. It will break, get lst, r n lnger be imprtant t us. S, [Bttm Line] live like yu knw what really matters. When yu give away stuff yu dn t need t smene wh des, that becmes a heavenly treasure. When yu dn t hld n t yur stuff but are willing t share, that becmes a heavenly treasure. When yu use yur stuff in ways that please Gd and help thers, yu re string up the kind f treasure that lasts frever. That s a heavenly treasure. 3. Mney Hp [Hear frm Gd Memry Verse Activity] Made t Mve: an activity that increases the xygen in the brain and taps int the energy in the bdy What Yu Need: Bible, pennies, quarters What Yu D: See if anyne has the memry verse memrized and then g ver the Verse Mtins (Fund here: Give each f the kids a quarter and a penny. Tell them t place the cins n the flr a few inches apart. Lead the grup in reciting the memry verse by standing n the penny as they say the first part. Then have them hp nt the quarter as they say the secnd part. After they finish the verse, ask everyne t mve their cins a little farther apart and say the verse again, hpping frm ne cin t the ther. Cntinue several mre times, each time letting kids mve their cins farther apart. What Yu Say: When yu [Bttm Line] live like yu knw what really matters, yu spend time learning Gd s Wrd. Great jb remembering this mnth s memry verse. Take yur penny and quarter hme t help yu remember Luke 16:10a. The penny will remind yu t d little jbs well, and the quarter will remind yu that little jbs dne well can lead t even bigger and better things.
