1 I Talk With Gd! Unitts 8/30/2015 This Week s Theme: Explring hw talking t Gd and listening t Gd in prayer helps us feel safe and guided. Teacher Insights: Our emphasis n this Sunday will be t prvide the children with a better understanding f prayer, why we pray, ways t pray, and recgnizing hw prayers are answered. This particular lessn will use the stry f Daniel and the lins t illustrate the pint that we can always turn t Gd t help us feel safe when we are afraid r scared. Unity was funded n the basis f affirmative prayer and with this lessn we want t really grund ur children in hw and why we pray! Unity Writings: Prayers are nt t impress Gd. They are t impress us, t raise us t the level f cnsciusness where we realize that, because we are ne with Gd, every gd fr us already exists. The Quest, Richard and Mary Alice Jaflla The gd always exists in Divine Mind as ideas, and we bring it int manifestatin thrugh the prayer f faith, affirmatin, praise and acknwledgement. -Charles Fillmre Unity Principles: (tday s principle is highlighted) 1: Gd is all Gd and active in everything, everywhere. 2: I am naturally gd because Gd s Divinity is in me and in everyne. 3: I create my experiences by what I chse t think and what I feel and believe. 4: Thrugh affirmative prayer and meditatin, I cnnect with Gd and bring ut the gd in my life. 5: Practice, Practice, Practice. I d and give my best by living the Truth I knw! I make a difference! Pre-sessin: Lins! Greet Parents and Children. As much as pssible try t greet parents at the sign-in table. At the Sign-in table ask: Please print names Des yur child have a yellw registratin frm filled ut? Any special needs that we shuld knw abut?

2 Pre-sessin Activity: Lin puppets Materials: paper sacks, template t clr and munt t the sack f a lin head, markers, glue sticks, scissrs Activity: The children will create their wn lin, which they will use during the stry time prtin f the hur. They can decrate their puppet lin any way they wish. Sacred Circle: My Thughts 3 Ohms: In rder t synchrnize ur energies, have the children sit in a circle and begin sacred circle with 3 hms. Wh is Jesus fr us in Unity? Our way-shwer, the great master f lve. Affirmatin: I talk with Gd and all is well! Intrductins/Affirmatins: In turn, have each student stand say their name and a characteristic they bring t the classrm. Fr example, I am Brandn and I bring peace t the circle tday. All the children warm up their hands and put their hands in the prayer psitin, bw, and say, Namaste, yu are! Namaste means: "The light in me sees the light in yu." Heart Agreements: Heart Agreements establish the bundaries f hw everyne in the grup agrees t shw up in Sunday schl. They are nt being TOLD hw they must shw up; they are telling YOU hw they have agreed t shw up. During the curse f the lessn, yu may refer back t the Heart Agreements. Fr example, if a grup f kids is perpetually talking while yu are speaking, then yu may say t the class as a whle, What was ur heart agreement abut listening t speakers? And let the kids tell yu! Our basic heart agreements are: Gentle Hands Open Hearts Walking Feet Listening ears

3 Kind Wrds Lve Offering: Divine Lve, Blesses and multiples, all that I have, all that I give and all that I receive. And I am jy-filled and grateful. FYI: students may place lts f things besides mney in the lve ffering basket: jy, friendship, peace, lve, etc. Sng:Gd and I Talk Tday Yu will find the sng n track 25 f the What a Wnderful Wrld CD which will be in yur tubs. The sng is sung t the tune f Mary Had a Little Lamb. Gd and I Talk Tday (Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb) Gd and I talk tday Talk tday, talk tday. Gd and I talk tday Every time I pray. Meditatin: Smetimes when we feel scared we feel all wiggly-jiggly inside. Let s act like that n the utside nw: everybdy shake yur bdy all ver and make sunds! OK, nw STOP! It wuld be great t stp ur wiggly-jiggly scared feelings that easily, wuldn t it? Well we are ging t practice ne way t d that Let s take a deep breath in and blw it all ut, t get all that wiggly-jiggly feeling ut f ur bdies. Let s d it again. Nw we will lie dwn in a circle with ur feet t the center and clse ur eyes (pause until all are settled.) Let s breathe in and ut again,

4 nice deep breaths. Ahhh, it is great t quiet dwn after we have been all rattled. We can be quiet and calm because we knw Gd s presence and prtectin is always with us. Everytime we breathe ut, let s picture a bubble that we are blwing arund urselves. We are right in the middle f that bubble. Everytime we blw ut it gets bigger and bigger It can get big enugh t include this whle rm withut ever ppping It can get big enugh t include this whle building. It can get big enugh t include ur whle wrld! This is the bubble f Gd s lve and prtectin. We can rest in this place in ur imaginatin, any time we want. We are resting and flating in this bubble While we are resting and flating here I am ging t say ur Prayer fr Prtectin, which reminds us that Gd is always with us. If yu knw any f the wrds, yu can speak them with me, r yu can just listen. The light f Gd surrunds me; The lve f Gd enflds me; The pwer f Gd prtects me; The presence f Gd watches ver me; Wherever I am, Gd is and all is well! Nw ur bubble f Gd s prtectin flats us back t this rm, and gently cmes back inside f us, s we can blw it ut arund us whenever we want. Thank yu, Gd, fr always taking care f me. Nw pen yur eyes and we can say that tgether: Thank yu, Gd, fr always taking care f me. Amen. Stry time: Daniel and the Lins Tday s stry will be a participatry stry. A puppet shw actually. If yu wuld like t lk at the stry as it is written in the Bible it may be fund in Daniel 6. Daniel represents spiritual judgment. He is the part f urselves that pens up t the wisdm and guidance f spirit. In this particular stry we see Daniel rely n the pwer f Gd t prtect him during the night. We knw that we all have this pwer within us and simply need t pen urselves t that pwer. * As the stry is read,

5 yu, the teacher will have a puppet f Daniel, and the children play the part f the lins. Call upn them as yu read the stry t d the raring f the lins. Discussin Questins: Wh is the main persn in ur stry? Wh else is in ur stry? What animals are in ur stry? What happened t Daniel? Hw d yu think Daniel felt when he was with the lins? Hw wuld yu feel if yu were with big animals? What kinds f things are sad r scary fr yu? What did Daniel d when he was with the lins? Hw did he keep himself safe? What are sme things yu can d t help yurself feel safe when smething scares yu? Creative Expressins: Daniel in the Circle Materials: The puppets the children made during pre-sessin This week we will give them an pprtunity t play Daniel and call n their Gd selves t help calm their fear. Create a circle n the flr and have the child that will be Daniel sit in the middle. Everyne else is ging t play a lin. Have the lins walk arund utside the circle and rar and act scary. Remind them that because the pwer f Gd is prtecting Daniel they can t crss int the circle. Have Daniel pint t a particular lin and say, I talk with Gd and all is well! Once Daniel speaks t a particular lin, that lin becmes silent. When all the lins are quiet, anther child rtates in as Daniel. *At the end f the hur, we will gather tgether and practice the Prayer fr Prtectin. Clsing Prayer: Let us pause fr a mment in silence. We send thughts f lve t everyne in the wrld. Pause.
