Cuncil t enter int the Healthy Church Initiative 2) Once vted and apprved, cntact Bb Farr, Directr f Cngregatinal Excellence 3) Next cntact David Hyatt ( ) HCI Crdinatr t set up weekend dates. Set Church Date with the Healthy Church Initiative team as sn as pssible and at least three mnths befre the anticipated cnsultatin weekend. Dates fr the weekend need t be cnfirmed by the HCI team crdinatr. Materials fr the weekend including the Self- Study (Assessment) will be sent and wrk n the Self-Study can begin as sn as pssible. Yu will be assigned t a Peer Mentring Grup that will meet mnthly fr fur hurs. That grup will begin when at least fur churches and a leader are able t begin meeting and cntinue fr mnths. 4) Schedule, with David Hyatt, the pre-weekend cnsultatin laity wrkshp 6 weeks prir t the cnsultatin weekend. 5) Creatin f Prayer team This team will cmmit t pray regularly fr changes. Include the results f bth surveys in the church s Self-Study reprt. One Mnth Prir t Pastr and cngregatin cntinue praying abut the upcming church cnsultatin. All self-study materials fr cnsulting team shuld be submitted by nw t the HCI crdinatr. Recruit the peple fr the fcus grup and infrm staff and leaders f their expected participatin in the weekend (see belw fr specifics). Begin advertising the Twn Meetings, time and date. 3 Preparatin Checklist fr Weekend, Cntinued One Week Prir t Submit the fllwing t the lead cnsultant and HCP Crdinatr electrnically: The Friday interview schedule including names and times f interviews. The list f all wh will attend the Friday night Fcus Grup. The list f all wh will attend the all-day Saturday sessin. The schedule fr Sunday mrning wrship and twn hall meeting. Dates fr yur twn hall meetings after the weekend (usually 3), and Church Cnference date. Friday Staff Interviews: Set up 45-minute interview times with each f the paid staff peple (the actual interview is abut minutes with a shrt break included). Als, include unpaid staff if they are respnsible fr a ministry area. If yu have a preschl r day care prgram, the directr shuld be included in the interview schedule. The first interview will be ne and a half hurs with the pastr. The interviews will cnclude by 5:00 p.m. The schedule shuld be backed up frm 5:00, beginning in the mrning with the pastr s interview, if necessary. If yu d nt have mre than 3 staff members, please get 3-4 mre lay leaders, like the Lay Leader, Ad Cuncil chair, UMW, r UMM presidents, r ther key leaders, children s area r hspitality, even if they are unpaid. We want at least 6 interviews plus the pastr. Please write up a schedule fr the interviews and frward a cpy t the HCI Crdinatr, at least ne week befre the church cnsultatin. 4 Preparatin Checklist fr Weekend, Cntinued Friday, cntinued Supper with Pastr, spuse and sme f the cnsultatin team 5:00 pm This is an pprtunity t hear frm the pastr s spuse hw things are ging in the cngregatin. We will be back at church by 7:00 fr the fcus grup. The dinner is prvided by the lead cnsultant at a restaurant f the pastr s chsing. Fcus Grup 7:00 8:30 This is a grup f members which represent a crss-sectin f the cngregatin. They shuld nt be staff r relatives f staff r members in leadership rles. Very simply, these are peple wh are faithful in wrship but have nt staff r leadership respnsibilities. The pastr is nt a member f the Fcus Grup. The Fcus Grup will begin at 7:00 and end by 8:30 p.m.(r earlier). Submit the names f these individuals t the lead cnsultant at least ne week prir t the church cnsultatin. It is gd fr the pastr t intrduce the cnsultant wh will lead the fcus grup and then leave fr the evening. Saturday Staff and Leadership Sessins Flipchart & markers A large sheet f paper and pens fr each table 9:00 10:00 Ad. Cuncil/Ad. Bard meets with cnsulting team 10:15 3:00 All leaders meet with cnsulting team All staff (paid and vlunteer) and the leadership f the cngregatin are requested t attend this 10am t 3pm sessin. The cnsultant team will be prviding teaching which is designed t mve peple frm maintenance t missinal thinking. This is a must meeting fr staff and leadership in rder that attitudes and cmmitment t missin can be develped. Please arrange fr a lunch t be prvided fr all participants and the cnsultatin team. 5 Preparatin Checklist fr Weekend, Cntinued Saturday, cntinued Reprt Written Frm 3-6pm (r later) the cnsultatin team will meet t draft the reprt t the cngregatin which will be submitted in the Twn Hall Meeting n Sunday. Please prvide a rm at the church where the team can meet. A cpy f the reprt will be given t the pastr, n Saturday evening, and reviewed with them that evening. The pastr will arrange fr cpies f the final versin t be run fr the twn meeting the next day. Sunday Wrship and Twn Hall Meeting The schedule fr the mrning needs t include time fr wrship and ne hur fr the Twn Hall Meeting at which time the reprt will be presented. The Twn Hall Meeting can take the place f the Bible Class/Sunday Schl r can be presented at a cngregatin meal after wrship. The selectin f the times is ttally up t the pastr. The actual time f the Twn Hall Meeting shuld be selected when the mst peple will be present t hear the reprt. The pastr may chse t begin r cnclude the Twn Hall Meeting. with the lead cnsultant r crdinatr will help in determining the mrning schedule. It is imprtant t share the dates fr the upcming meetings t discuss the reprt, prbably 3 f these, and the date f the Church Cnference fr the vte n the prescriptins, at the Twn Hall Meeting n Sunday. If the prescriptins are adpted, a member f the cnsultatin team will cach the pastr and cngregatin fr at least the next year.
