1 PRAYER DIARY A daily prayer guide for the work of The Faith Mission MARCH - JUNE 2017 My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth a Psalm 121:2

2 A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR FOR IRELAND Psalm 121 is undoubtedly one of the best known and best loved psalms. There were probably two writers: Hezekiah, expressing his great need in a desperate situation in verses 1 and 2, and Isaiah, coming with such great support and encouragement to him in verses 3 to 8. The city of Jerusalem was surrounded by the Assyrians under the leadership of Sennacherib, a cruel giant. Hezekiah needed intervention and help. Looking to the hills around Jerusalem, he knew they were polluted with Baal worshippers; so there was no help in the hills, even though the majesty and beauty of creation was inspiring. He knew he needed to look higher and he did My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. Hezekiah has taken a bold stand against the enemy and Isaiah prays that his foot will not slip, assuring him that if the Lord is his King, then the Lord will be his Keeper. No doubt, Hezekiah felt weary under the pressure; but what a blessing to know that He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. In his weakness, Hezekiah was assured that the Lord was his shade at his right hand, affording him protection on all sides. The heat of the battle was intense and the enemy threw everything at him but the mighty God of Israel would preserve him from all evil and watch over his comings and goings. It is a great privilege to serve the God of heaven, the maker of heaven and earth. Like Hezekiah, the Lord s people in today s society are under intense pressure. There is pressure to compromise on many of the core values of the Christian faith and increasingly to present a cringe-free gospel that is diluted of the great truths of scripture. Our constant prayer is that our foot will not slip ; that in the ongoing work of the gospel, the message of repentance and faith in Christ s atoning death can alone bring salvation and hope. We need the Lord s protection on all sides. May the Lord keep us low at His feet and usable in His work. May the Lord preserve from all evil and protect from every attack on body, soul and mind. How grateful we are to you, the readers of this Prayer Diary, for your constant support and faithful praying. God has answered and we give Him the glory. There have been some very clear conversions in recent months, with evidence of spiritual growth following. The Faith Mission was called into being to win the lost for Christ and we must remain true to our calling. May the Lord strengthen and encourage you as you stand shoulder to shoulder with us in His work. Warmly in Christ, e Trevor Matthews Seek first the kingdom (Matthew 6:33) Have faith in God (Mark 11:22) GENERAL HEADQUARTERS Add: Tel: Fax: Govan House, 548 Gilmerton Road, Edinburgh, EH17 7JD (0131) (0131) Web: hq@faithmission.org Faith Mission & Missionary Training Home (known as The Faith Mission) is a charity registered in Scotland No. SC005119

3 POINTS FOR PRAYER AND PRAISE ROBERT LITTLE shares of encouragements KYAN & CLAIR FRITH have a dream We are very thankful for the fact that the Harby Centre is so busy. It s great to see so many churches, youth groups and Christian Unions coming in and making use of the facilities. We are especially pleased that Harby Primary School come in twice a week to use the sports hall for their PE lessons. Our prayer is that in coming to the Centre the children will become familiar with the surroundings and this, coupled with them getting to know Kyan as he takes fortnightly assemblies at the school, would open opportunities for them to come along to camp in future years. It would be a dream for us to see every child in the village come along to camp and hear the gospel. CAROL CUMMINGS tells of children with questions Praise God for the wonderful opportunities given through Bible Alive to share Him with many youngsters in the Lochaber area. These kids have excellent questions and are so hungry to know about God and how He works in people s lives. Pray that God would cause their interest to deepen and that they would grow to become strong and devoted to Him. Many are interested in summer camp; pray that they would book and enjoy more opportunities to have their questions answered and benefit from Christian company. TIMOTHY & EMMA CONDY thank God We are so thankful for the opportunity to be in Ballymena Primary School to take assemblies on a regular basis. The children listen intently as the Word is shared in a relevant way, and the teachers are also being impacted. There are quite a number of children from various religious backgrounds and it is a wonderful opportunity to share the life-changing gospel with them. Pray that some of these children will attend camp this summer and that this door will remain open for the Word. Back in November 2014, David Bennett and I conducted a gospel mission in Roughan Orange Hall, situated between the villages of Ballygawley and Augher in South Tyrone. I had just joined The Faith Mission and I wanted to nail my colours to the mast and reach my own neighbours before going into the uttermost part of the earth. Following a very successful mission the thought of conducting an annual carol service in the hall as a means of continuing a regular witness in the area came into my mind. I proceeded with this endeavour and it has proved to be very profitable. Prior to each service every home in the area is visited with calendars, invitations and tracts being distributed. At our third service, held on 4 December 2016, the hall was yet again packed to overflowing with 115 folk in attendance. Local children shared the Christmas story from God s Word, Roughan Silver Band accompanied the singing of carols, and a gospel message was brought by Andrew McMullan from Child Evangelism Fellowship. Tea and fellowship was enjoyed by all in the adjoining band hall. Since the gospel mission, there has been renewed interest in the Roughan Prayer Union, which is now in double figures and meets twice a month. An annual Christmas street outreach to Dublin has also been established by some Prayer Union members. We give God thanks for calling us to be his representatives to the people in this area, many of whom are still strangers to God s grace.

Pray for Robert as he prepares and for the Orangemen who attend, many of whom are not saved. 19 NED James Bovenizer takes school assemblies in Calder Vale and Scorton today. ESD Justin & Carol Cummings have an assembly at Roy Bridge Primary School. Pray for the children and staff who will hear God s Word. 20 NWID Garry & Alison Tutty value prayer for camp preparation this week. Pray for open-air outreach planned in various locations over the summer months. Ask the Lord to draw souls to Himself. THE GOD OF THIS WORLD HAS BLINDED THE MINDS OF THE UNBELIEVERS, TO KEEP THEM FROM SEEING THE LIGHT OF THE GOSPEL OF THE GLORY OF CHRIST, WHO IS THE IMAGE OF GOD. 2 Corinthians 4:4 21 NID Andrew & Barbara McIlroy appreciate prayer for the Glens of Antrim. Pray that God would open the eyes and hearts of those with whom the truth about Jesus has been shared. Many are religious, but not saved. NED Pray for James Bovenizer as he speaks at Lea Endowed School assembly. Remember the many children who James & Lynda have shared the gospel with in various schools during this school year. 22 HQ Pray for the final preparations for Edinburgh Convention. Also ask the Lord to prepare the hearts of those who will attend. FMBC Thank the Lord for the students who have already been accepted to commence their studies in September. Pray for others to apply. 23 WAL Paul Crowe values your prayers as he speaks at the Kintyre Christian Fellowship (Scotland). NID Remember Emma Condy as she shares God s Word at Waveney Fold this evening. 24 CED Kyan & Clair Frith look forward to welcoming people from the local community for an open afternoon at Harby FM Centre. The first camps for this year take place during the first week of July. Ask the Lord for the salvation, spiritual growth, and safety of the many hundreds of children who will attend throughout the summer.

17 SUMMER Camps Camps are an important part of the work of The Faith Mission throughout the summer. Please begin to pray for the camps - for camp leaders as they plan and arrange, for those who will be preparing to teach, and for campers to book in.
