4 Calvin CRC Announcements for October 29, 2017 WORSHIP Today, 10 AM and 5 PM Morning worship: Rev. Cal Van Reken preaches from I Corinthians 1-2, Our youth will help lead us in worship. We are grateful for the leadership of these young members of Calvin Church, who will lead us through a bell choir, a vocal choir, and by serving as liturgists. Evening worship: Lisa Meyer preaches from Nahum 1:1-11 and the young people in the Sunday school classes (grades 3-8) will bring to life how David handled King Saul s pursuing him. WORSHIP Next Sunday, November 5 Morning worship: Rev. Cal Van Reken will preach on Psalm 103. We will celebrate communion, and the Cherub, Covenant, and Sanctuary Choirs will bring the ministry of music. Our offering will be for Grand Rapids Christian School Tuition Support Fund. 7 Growing in Discipleship Transformed for Ministry Welcome to Calvin Church In Worship: Our worship proceeds unannounced and follows the printed liturgy. The Chancel banner expresses the Christian belief that in one God there are three divine persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The color green represents spiritual growth during the season of the Lord s life and ministry. Large print resources are available at the information desk. Adult coloring pages are on the TRIP table in the narthex. Our facility is equipped with the Loop hearing system. For Children: Ages 0-2: Infant and toddler nurseries are available. Preschool: The Little Children (TLC) gathers downstairs in room 19 prior to the morning worship. K-2 nd : After the Children s Message the Children s Worship ministry meets downstairs in rooms 11 & 13 until the conclusion of worship. Parents meet their children there following the service. Busy Bags for young children are on the picket fence in the atrium. Bulletins for older children are in the rack in the narthex. But doesn t God do us an injustice by requiring in his law what we are unable to do? A. No, God created human beings with the ability to keep the law. They, however, provoked by the devil, in willful disobedience, robbed themselves and all their descendants of these gifts. Q & A 10 Q. Does God permit such disobedience and rebellion to go unpunished? A. Certainly not. God is terribly angry with the sin we are born with as well as the sins we personally commit. But isn t God also merciful? A. God is certainly merciful, but also just.
