5 Calvin CRC Announcements for July 29, 2018 WORSHIP Today, 10 AM and 5 PM Morning worship: The Rev. Rebecca Jordan Heys preaches from Genesis 4:1-16, A Fugitive and a Wanderer. We welcome soloist Gwenneth Bean. We have the opportunity to thank Bailey Sarver for her ministry as our Youth Director and send her with a blessing as she begins her ministry at the Campus Chapel at the University of Michigan later this week. The Worship Committee has been soliciting song suggestions from our young people to use in our worship services. This morning we will be singing #869 which was requested by Grace Spoelma. Evening worship: Brad Zwiers preaches from Matthew 4:12-25, Begin, Again. WORSHIP Next Sunday, August 5 Morning worship: Brad Zwiers will preach from Matthew 5:1-12, Blessed. Rebecca Padgett and Trudi Huizenga will lead us in ministry of music. The offering will be for Inner City Christian Federation. Evening worship: The Rev. Ruth Romeyn will preach from John 21:17-25, All of Cyberspace, and we will celebrate the sacrament of communion. The offering will be for FISH and Benevolence Staff News: Doug Ezinga is on vacation through August 5. Pastor Rebecca will be on vacation July 30-August 12. If you desire pastoral care during that time, please contact your district Elder, Pastor Jake, Pastor Brad, or the church office. CHURCH FAMILY 85+ YEAR OLD BIRTHDAY: 8/15 Ruth Kamminga (90) COLLEGE AND CAREER AGE BIRTHDAYS: 8/2 Sam Poortenga (22) 8/5 Olivia Prince (19) 8/26 Joseph Van Harn (22) 8/28 Hannah Overbeek (21) MaryAnn Walters (district 1) has moved to: 731 Clark Crossing, Grand Rapids, MI Art Jongsma (district 10) has experienced loss of peripheral vision and is undergoing testing to determine possible causes and treatments. A memorial service for John Hedrick (district 5) will be held at Calvin Church this week Thursday, August 2, at 7:00 PM, with visitation for an hour prior to the service.

6 Marjorie Gritter (district 9) passed away on Monday, July 23. A memorial service is being planned for later in the month of August. REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS The Christian Reformed Conference Grounds, Lakeshore Dr., Grand Haven, is excited to welcome Tim Zimmerman and The King s Brass concert on Saturday, August 4. The doors to the Worship Center will open at 6 PM; the concert will begin at 7 PM. No tickets are needed; however, a free-will offering will be taken to help offset our music ministry. Be sure to come early for our famous chicken BBQ night. Dinner will be served in the Sunshine Room 4:30-6:30 PM. Welcome to Calvin Church In Worship: Our worship proceeds unannounced and follows the printed liturgy. The Chancel banner expresses the Christian belief that in one God there are three divine persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The color green represents spiritual growth during the season of the Lord s life and ministry. Large print resources are available at the Information Desk. Adult coloring pages are on the TRIP table in the Narthex. Our facility is equipped with the Loop hearing system. For Children: Ages 0-2: Infant and toddler nurseries are available. Preschool: The Little Children (TLC) gathers downstairs in room 19 prior to the morning worship. Busy Bags for young children are on the picket fence in the Atrium. Bulletins for older children are in the rack in the Narthex. Coloring pages and colored pencils are available at the table in the Narthex. Fellowship and Information: Everyone is invited to the Fellowship Hall for refreshments following the morning service.
