The flowers today are in memory of my donor Emily, age 13, and in gratitude to her family for giving me this opportunity to live. We praise God for this year of healing and strength. 2 God, be merciful to me, a sinner! Season of Ordinary Time This morning we celebrate the Lord s Supper; a gracious gift that God provides to Christ s body, the church. All who have been baptized into Christ, and who desire to honor him with grateful and obedient living, are invited to participate in this sacrament discerning that this bread and cup are signs and seals of God s love for us and that we who participate are members of Christ s body. We serve gluten-free bread and non-alcoholic grape juice. Sermon: A Holy People for a Holy God Prayer of Application * Affirmation of Faith: The Apostles' Creed front cover of hymnal The Lord s Supper 1 Corinthians 11: For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. Lift up your hearts. We lift our hearts to the Lord Let us give thanks to the Lord our God It is right for us to give thanks and praise. With joy we praise you, gracious God, for you created heaven and earth, made us in your image, and kept covenant with us even when we fell into sin. We give you thanks for Jesus Christ, our Lord, who by his life, death, and resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. Therefore we join our voices with all the saints and angels and the whole creation to proclaim the glory of our name. Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.

4 We give you thanks that our Savior, Jesus Christ, before he suffered, gave us this memorial of his sacrifice, until he comes again. We proclaim our faith as signed and sealed in this sacrament: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. Lord, our God, send your Holy Spirit so that this bread and cup may be for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. May we and all your saints be united with Christ and remain faithful in hope and love. Gather your whole church, O Lord, into the glory of your kingdom. We pray in the name of Jesus who taught us to pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen Preparation of the Elements The bread that we break is a sharing in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share the same loaf. The cup for which we give thanks...is a sharing in the poured out blood of Christ. The cup that we drink is our participation in the blood of Christ. Congregation of Jesus Christ, the Lord has prepared his table as a gracious gift for his church. All who have been baptized into Christ are invited to participate and to come to the table of the Lord discerning that this bread and cup are signs and seals of God s love for us and that we who participate are members of Christ s body. Come with gladness to the table of the Lord. The gifts of God are for the people of God! Distribution of the Elements As the bread is shared: The body of Christ, given for you. For All the Saints Ralph Vaughan Williams For all the saints who from their labours rest, Who thee by faith before the world confessed, Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest, Alleluia! Alleluia! O blest communion! Fellowship divine! We feebly struggle, they in glory shine; Yet all are one in thee, for all are thine. Alleluia! Alleluia!

5 From earth s wide bounds, from ocean s farthest coast, Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, Singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia! Alleluia! Take, eat, remember and believe that the precious body of our savior Jesus Christ was given for the complete forgiveness of all our sin. Thanks be to God. As the cup is shared: The blood of Christ, shed for you. Give God, the Father, Praise Give God, the Father, your unending praise. Give God the Father, power and glory. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah Heinrich Schütz Give God, the Father, the glory of His Name. Worship God, the Father, in the beauty of holiness. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah All of mankind bow before Thee, and do sing to Thee, Sing praises to Thy Holy Name. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah Take, drink, remember and believe that the precious blood of our savior Jesus Christ was shed for the complete forgiveness of all our sin. Thanks be to God. Prayer Almighty and ever living God, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; and for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living members of the body of your Son, and heirs of your eternal kingdom. And now, Father, send us out to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and forever. Amen. [Book of Common Prayer] Hymn of Response: Hold My Heart in Your Hand [tune: Ville Du Havre #451] Through pain, sadness, heartache, through happiness and joy, Your grace brought me comfort in fear. Your grace surely healed me so long, long ago. May Your grace give me strength for today. Hold my heart in Your hand, Gracious Lord, hold my heart in Your hand. For those who have walked in this valley with me, Our Shepherd will carry us through. He ll comfort and lead us, our souls to restore. We shall dwell in the house of our Lord. Hold our hearts in Your hand, Gracious Lord, hold our hearts in Your hand.

6 My comfort in life is that I am not my own. My Savior has freed me from death. He watches over me, such that no hair can fall From my head without God s will for me. Hold my heart in Your hand, Gracious Lord, hold my heart in Your hand. I wait on the Lord for my heart to be renewed. Dry tears, comfort sorrows and pain Of those who ll be called to give life midst their grief, When they say, Take this heart, just for you. Hold their hearts in Your hand, Gracious Lord, hold their hearts in Your hand. My story I ll tell, my Redeemer I ll praise. His faithfulness I will proclaim. My Savior, my Shepherd, my Lord, and my Friend, Stay close by me forever, I pray. Hold my heart in Your hand, Gracious Lord, hold my heart in Your hand. An offering for the Benevolence Fund is received during this song * Benediction * Doxology: To God Be the Glory #956 To God be the glory, to God be the glory, To God be the glory for the things he has done: With his blood he has saved me; with his power he has raised me.
