Surround us with signs of life and hope, and help us to put our trust in you. Amen.

Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. One: Thank you for Jesus a living sacrifice dedicated to your service. All: Dying, you destroyed our death; rising, you restored our life. Lord Jesus, come in glory. One: Pour out your Holy Spirit and in the unity of the Spirit, now and forever. THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 5 ASHBY HOUSE SUMMER WORK DAYS Sign-up now to be part of a local FPC mission team helping at the renovated transitional housing owned by Ashby House. The Social Justice & Mission Committee is hoping to have mission teams for three Saturdays this summer June 18, July 16, and August 6, all beginning at 9:00 a.m. Sign-up sheets are in the main lobby of the church, or you can call/ the church office to sign-up for one of the Saturdays. Look for more information in the June newsletter. Questions? Talk to Brigid Hall or Rebecca Chancellor. NEW MEMBER MEETING EVERY SECOND SUNDAY On the 2 nd Sunday of each month, there is a New Members Inquiry Meeting in the Hope Room following worship. Come join us if you would like more information about First Presbyterian Church and our ministries, or if you are ready to join our congregation as a member. You may also talk to Charlie or Rebecca any time. ARE YOU A VETERAN? Veterans Day is a day set aside to thank and honor all those who served in the military -- in wartime or peacetime. Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their service. Over the summer, FPC Salina would like to compile a list of veterans in our midst, and to honor them in November. If you are a veteran, or have any family members who have served in the armed forces, please provide the information to the church office so that we can compile a special commemorative tribute. VBS VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED! FPC and Sunrise Presbyterian will co-host Heartland Traveling Day Camp (VBS) for all children currently in Kindergarten through 6th grades, to be held at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, June FPC still needs volunteers to provide a meal to 5 staff and help with children's snack time. Volunteer forms are available on the table outside the Chapel, or you may contact Penni White directly to sign-up. Volunteer training for volunteer counselors and youth counselors will be Sunday June 12 at 6:30 PM at Sunrise Presbyterian Church. RIVER FESTIVAL SUNDAY: JUNE 12 Be sure to attend worship on Sunday, June 12, to hear Ciera MacKenzie perform! She is a youthful, energetic singer/songwriter with a voice reminiscent of a young Alison Krause. For more information, visit her Facebook page. PROJECT SALINA GOAL EXCEEDED! In the Bible, the number 7 represents completeness and perfection. It is the foundation of God's word. Seven derives most of its meaning from being tied directly to God's creation of all things over a seven-day week, and God's Sabbath is on the seventh day. The Bible, as a whole, consists of seven parts: The Law, the Prophets, the Writings (or Psalms), the Gospels (and Acts), the Epistles of Paul, the General Epistles, and the book of Revelation. Given the significance of the number seven, it seems appropriate that the final count of cans of tuna collected in the Project Salina food drive totaled 704. Many thanks to all members of the congregation who contributed in this community-wide effort to fight hunger.

It can help us better understand our personality, relationships, and spirituality. This summer, the Adult Ed Committee invites you to join us on a journey of discovery using the enneagram. In The Essential Enneagram by David Daniels and Virginia Price, the enneagram is described as a powerful and dynamic personality system that describes nine distinct and fundamentally different patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting Underneath each of the nine patterns is a basic proposition, or belief, about what you need in life for survival and satisfaction. We will use the enneagram to learn more about ourselves, our relationships with God and others, and our spiritual journeys. Materials from Father Richard Rohr, a Franciscan priest and found of the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, NM, will be used in the class. We will meet in the Hope Room at 9:00 a.m. on June 26, July 10, and July 17 to learn about the enneagram and how it might transform our lives. Introduction packets with the initial test to help you discover your type are available in the church office or from Pastor Rebecca. Pick up a packet and take the test to get the most out of the classes and discussions. You may join us for one or all Sundays, as you are in town.
7 SUMMER SOUL-STICE SERIES WHEN: 9:30 AM TUESDAYS, JUNE 7 and 21, JULY 12 and 26, AUGUST 9 WHERE: FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 8TH AND MULBERRY STREETS CONTACT: MARTHA RHEA (785) or marhea43@gmail.com SYDNEY SODERBERG (785) or sydsod@cox.net First Presbyterian Church is sponsoring its fifth Summer Soul-Stice Series, scheduled every other Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM in the Conference Room at the church at 8th and Mulberry Streets, unless otherwise noted. The Series is eclectic in nature, this year exploring Called to. The Series examines what it means to be called to a profession or mission in life and some unique ways people have responded. The informal sessions are facilitated by a variety of leaders who have a story to share, as well as encourage discussion and learning. Time for each segment is approximately one hour. The entire Series is free and open to the public. The Summer Soul-Stice Series for 2016 includes: June 7 Called to Unravel Place led by Robert Possehl (Note location: Salina Art Center Warehouse, 149 South 4 th Street.) June 21 Called to Transformation led by SuEllen Fried July 12 Called to Listen led by Glen Stovall July 26 Called to Cultivate led by Emily Rude August 9 Called to Kindness led by Debbie Rivers FEATURING PAPERMAKER: ROBERT POSSEHL June 7 - Robert Possehl is a Wisconsin-based papermaker, known for his work with native, non-native, and invasive plant fibers. By making paper from these materials he seeks to recover the stories and histories embedded in a landscape's memory. During the Soul-Stice hour Possehl will explore place-based papermaking as a means to better understand and honor our relationship to place. Then as the Salina Art Center's artist at this year's Smoky Hill River Festival, Possehl plans an installation where he, volunteers, and Festival-goers will transform local plant material into sheets of handmade paper, forming the basic building blocks of the work. As the installation evolves over the course of the Festival, participants will transform the site into a new landscape. (Note location: Salina Art Center Warehouse, 149 South 4 th Street.)
