Lift our minds from earthly things to the vision of your heavenly commonwealth. We revel in self-glory; we delight in vain pursuits; we worship the idols of our base desires. Forgive our shortsighted behavior and reconcile us through Jesus to your eternal will. Psalm 27:1 says, The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? This week, you are invited to write down on the piece of paper in your bulletin whatever it is that you fear, keeping you from worshipping God and following Christ. Then bring your paper up to the front of the sanctuary and use a push-pin to place it on the cross.

Fresh Hot salsa is available: $10 for 16 oz. and $15 for 24 oz. You can also buy jars of layered soup mix for $10 each to support the mission trip. The jars are available in Blair Hall today during the Soup & Chili Cook-off! You may also sample some of the soups for sale! YOUTH SUNDAY WORSHIP: FEBRUARY 28 From greeters and ushers to the prayers, sermon and music, the FPC Youth will lead us in worship next Sunday, February 28! A special offering will be collected to support Youth Mission and Triennium. ADULT ED CLASS ON FATHER GREGORY BOYLE S WORK WITH GANGS Our Sunday morning Adult Education Class is reading and discussing the book: Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion by Gregory Boyle, Founder of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles. Each week through April 17 th, we will read and discuss one chapter and a spiritual discipline to practice. Join us at 9:00 a.m. in the Hope Room for powerful conversation!! LENTEN DEVOTIONALS FROM PRESBYTERIANS TODAY Please pick up a 2016 Lenten Devotional in the church office or on the table outside the Chapel. The devotional, Be Holy by The Rev. Brian Coulter, helps us observe Lent with reflection and prayer.

4 OPEN CHAPEL FOR REFLECTION AND PRAYER DURING LENT The season of Lent is a time for self-reflection and repentance; it is a time to turn, or re-turn, to God, a time to be intentional in our relationship with Jesus. Through the season of Lent, the Chapel doors will be open during office hours and soft music may be playing. On Wednesdays through March 23 rd, we will have Open Chapel from 4:30-6:00 p.m. with resources available for reflection and prayer, including mandalas, colored pencils, poems, and books. Stop in as the Spirit leads you. LENTEN PRAYER STATIONS The Youth invite you up to the 3 rd floor anytime you would like to visit, but especially during this season of Lent. You are encouraged to visit the Spirituality Center in the West Classroom on the 3 rd floor where ten directed prayer stations are set up. The Spirituality Center will be open during church office hours, Weekdays 9 AM to 5 PM, and on Sundays 8 AM to 1 PM! COME UPSTAIRS AND Pray for our Guatemala Mission Team, the work they will be doing and the people they will serve alongside while making a few prayer stones. Make a stone for yourself and a few more for the team to take to the girls at Próximos Pasos School. Enjoy some quiet reflection in our cozy corner. Leave a prayer, Take a prayer. Leave a prayer concern for others to lift you up in prayer, while also taking a prayer another person has left. Be comforted by Psalm 23 as you read it and make a corresponding bracelet to remind you of God s love. And Many More! WALK TO JERUSALEM BY EASTER, MARCH 27 As we journey with Jesus this Lent, the Walk to Jerusalem encourages us to take care of the bodies God gave us through walking, running, chair exercises, and aerobics. Physical activity will add years to your life, and life to your years. From Salina to Jerusalem, it is 6,711 miles as the crow flies. Kids and Adults: Pick up a passport to track your miles and activities each day, and we will track our distance as a congregation. Walk to Jerusalem Devotional Packets are also available to help you reflect and pray as you walk and move! Please turn your miles in to Brigid Hall who will track our progress! REFUGEE SUNDAY REPORT Thank you, Members and Friends at FPC, for your generous donations to World Vision s work with refugees! Together, we gave $1, to World Vision to support their continued efforts working with refugees in Syria. Your prayers and emergency aid make a difference in the lives of those displaced. READERS THEATER ON PALM SUNDAY, MARCH 20 In worship on Sunday, March 20 th, a team of 8-10 readers will present the Palm and Passion story as presented in the Gospel of Luke. We will have one rehearsal to go through the readings on Saturday, March 19 th at 9:00 a.m. If you are willing to be a reader, please let Pastor Rebecca know!

6 ECUMENICAL WITNESS AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE: MARCH 4-5 First Presbyterian Church is one of several churches supporting and participating in a Symposium on Preventing Gun Violence at Kansas Wesleyan University. Friday, March 4 th, there will be a Service of Prayer in the Fitzpatrick Auditorium at 7:00 p.m., followed at 8 p.m. by the film, Trigger: The Ripple Effects of Gun Violence. On Saturday, March 5 th, the Symposium includes Keynote Speaker The Rev. James Atwood, a retired Presbyterian pastor and author of America and Its Guns: A Theological Exposé. There will also be a response panel, break-out sessions, and reports. Pre- Registration Forms are available in the church office, or you may call Redeemer Lutheran Church ( ). A donation of $5 is requested for all adults; boxed lunches are available for $10. NEW MEMBER MEETING EVERY SECOND SUNDAY On the 2 nd Sunday of each month, there is a New Members Inquiry Meeting following worship. Come to the Hope Room if you would like more information about our mission and ministries or to ask questions about joining FPC. If you are ready to join as a member, please come to the meeting! If you have questions, you may always talk to one of our pastors, Charlie or Rebecca. FOR YOUR INFORMATION: FPC s Nursery, located on the second floor, is available for infants and children ages 5 and younger. FPC encourages children ages 6 and older to remain in worship. Worship bags for children of all ages are located in the lobby. When you are finished with the bag, please put it in the basket so that it can be replenished and straightened. Pew Art cards are also available in the pew racks. Extra hymnals, including large print, and Bibles are available in the back of the sanctuary. The sanctuary is equipped with a Hearing Loop. Please switch your hearing aid to t-coil to use. Headsets are also available. An usher will be happy to help if you need assistance. CONGREGATIONAL CARE: Tan Prayer Request Cards are used for prayer requests or concerns. As requests are received, the Board of Deacons will offer prayers. Blue We Care Cards are for messages of care to persons of the congregation, these cards are mailed the next week. Cards are available in the back of the room. Please place the cards in the offering plate. Your Prayer Concerns can now be submitted online. Please visit and they will be forwarded to a pastor. Switch hearing aid to t-coil. Please see your audiologist to activate your t-coil if you haven t done so yet. For more information on t-coil & Hearing Loop, you can find information packets on the credenza in the narthex.
