All: Christ, as our Redeemer, executes the offices of a prophet, of a priest, and of a king, both in his estate of humiliation and exaltation. One: How does Christ execute the office of a prophet? All: Christ executes the office of a prophet in revealing to us, by his Word and Spirit, the will of God for our salvation. One: How does Christ execute the office of a priest? All: Christ executes the office of a priest in his once offering up of himself a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice, and reconcile us to God, and in making continual intercession for us. 4 CONGREGATIONAL MEETING: ELECTION OF OFFICERS ON DECEMBER 3 The Session of First Presbyterian Church, Salina, has called a congregational meeting immediately following the worship service on Sunday, December 3, 2017, for the purpose of electing new Ruling Elders, Deacons and Trustees, as well as a 2018 Nominating Committee. GIVING TUESDAY: NOVEMBER 28 November 28 th is the 6 th annual #givingtuesday, supporting mission and ministry at home and around the world. Join your fellow Presbyterians and participate: Give to your home church. Give to Presbyterian mission workers. Give to the 1001 New Worshiping Communities. Give to the Christmas Joy Offering. Give to Northern Kansas Presbytery's local mission work, or to another Presbyterian-related mission organization. Learn more and make your gift on Tuesday, November 28th at HANGING OF THE GREENS: DECEMBER 3 On December 3rd, to mark the First Sunday of Advent, during the 10 a.m. worship service we will decorate the sanctuary Christmas tree with a Hanging of the Greens service to prepare for the upcoming season. Did you know that evergreen is a symbol of everlasting life? There is also special significance to holly, cedar and other decorations. Join us for the service to get in the holiday spirit! ADVENT DEVOTIONAL NOW AVAILABLE Presbyterians Today 2017 Advent devotional Let Love Speak: Words and Actions to Pave the Way of the Lord is a devotional guide written by Magdalena I. García, PC(USA) minister of Word and Sacrament and hospital chaplain for Vitas Healthcare in Chicago. She has put together a collection of challenging daily reflections and prayers based upon the Psalms to help us experience the promise and power of Christ s coming. Limited copies are available around the church office or you can download the guide on our website at CHILDREN S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: DECEMBER 10 This year, the Faithful Bible Investigators will be serenading you with a variety of Christmas songs as they tell the story of Jesus' birth! We hope you'll join us during worship on December 10th as we sing and celebrate the meaning of Christmas! A special shout out to Richard Koshgarian for his help in preparing for the musical portion of the program. We look forward to seeing you in worship on December 10th! Join us in the parlor for Advent Trivia, before worship on Sunday, December 10 th, in the Parlor at 9 a.m. This friendly but competitive game will be hosted by none other than Charlie Smith! There will be new categories and questions this year, with plenty of holiday treats to share. Of course coffee or hot chocolate too. This is fun for the whole family so please plan to be there!

Please join us the first Monday of each month on a journey over nine lessons (through June) as the author invites us to explore major themes found in Hebrews, relate these themes to other parts of our faith tradition, and tie them together with the overarching motif of community. Books are available in the church office during regular office hours. The cost is $10. WALK TO BETHLEHEM How quickly we have already put in three weeks on our Walk to Bethlehem. The mileage reports have been impressive. Our thanks to all of you. Everyone is always welcome to join in at any point along the way. The more the merrier and the more quickly the miles accumulate. Remember that we award miles for worship and workouts, yoga and yard work, swimming and Silver Sneakers, cycling and choir practice. The list goes on and on and every mile makes a difference! 6 FPC HOLIDAY SCHEDULE There will be NO MidWeek Manna on December 20 th and 27 th. The Nursery will be CLOSED December 24 th and 31 st. The FPC office will be CLOSED December 25 th and January 1 st. ONLINE CHURCH DIRECTORY: WE NEED YOUR PICTURE! The FPC Salina Photography Studio is now open for business! If you'd like to have your picture taken for our new online electronic church directory, you are in luck. Each Wednesday and Sunday through December, we will be taking pictures in the Parlor Conference Room. Go there after the worship service and see our photographers. OR you can also submit your own (or your family's) photograph and confirm basic information either online or to the church office. Just let us know. It couldn't be easier! HEIFER INTERNATIONAL: PASS THE GIFT Heifer International is an assistance organization program helping to end hunger and poverty, and at the same time protect the environment and care for the earth. FPC Youth will be available in the parlor after worship during Advent to sell animals, books and gifts for Heifer. You may also make a monetary contribution to Heifer through the church, the FPC online giving site or the new "change for change" tubes. During Advent the tubes will be located at the Heifer table, but the tubes will be available for year-long giving! CIRCLES OF THE HEARTLAND BENEFIT: DECEMBER 2 Circles of the Heartland presents Circle of Friends featuring Nathan and Kendal from the Peterson Farm Brothers on Saturday, December 2 nd at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E Neal, Salina. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and food will be served at 5:15 p.m. This community event benefits Circles of the Heartland. Tickets are $25 each and are available at circlesoftheheartland.org or Your ticket includes dinner and the presentation. There will also be a silent auction. Circles is an initiative in Saline County to help families and individuals move out of poverty. TUCSON S CELEBRITY DINNER BENEFITTING CIRCLES: DECEMBER 5 Circles of the Heartland presents their annual Celebrity Dinner at Tucson s Steakhouse on Tuesday, December 5 th from 5-8 p.m. Charlie will be donating his time to serve you! Come support Circles of the Heartland and see your pastor and celebrity friends! FPC ONLINE GIVING IS SO EASY! Did you know that you can pay your pledge online? 7 It s Time to Order Poinsettias! The Board of Deacons invites you to share in providing plants as Christmas gifts to nursing home and homebound members of the church. Plants will decorate the sanctuary during Advent and Christmas Eve. Cost is $16 per plant. You may pick up your plant(s) for your own use following the Christmas Eve service if you designate on the form below that you wish to do so. If you do not want to pick it up, the plant will be assigned for delivery to a member or friends of the congregation. Please complete the form below and return with your payment to the church office no later than Monday, Dec. 11 th. Please note poinsettia plant on your payment. 8 MIDWEEK MANNA A contemporary service with weekly Dinner, Communion & Praise Band (free-will offering) Join us Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. This week s caterer is Little Caesars Pizza! FOR YOUR INFORMATION: FPC s Nursery, located on the second floor, is available for infants and children ages 5 and younger. FPC encourages children ages 6 and older to remain in worship. Worship bags for children of all ages are located in the lobby. When you are finished with the bag, please put it in the basket so that it can be replenished and straightened. Pew Art cards are also available in the pew racks. FBI (Faithful Bible Investigators) is our Christian Education program for children in grades K-5. FBI-In-Training is our Christian Education program for children age 2 through Pre-K. HeBrews is our 9 th -12 th grade Youth Bible Study that meets every Thursday during the school year at 6:45 am at Mokas on Crawford. The name is derived from Hebrews 10:25. God Squad is our 6 th -8 th grade Youth Bible Study that meets every Tuesday during the school year from 6-7 pm at different Salina dining locations. Adult Education Class meets every Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Hope Room. Extra hymnals, including large print, and Bibles are available in the back of the sanctuary. The sanctuary is equipped with a Hearing Loop. Please switch your hearing aid to t-coil to use. Please see your audiologist to activate your t-coil if you haven t done so yet. Headsets are also available. An usher will be happy to help if you need assistance. CONGREGATIONAL CARE: Tan Prayer Request Cards are for prayer requests or concerns. These go to the Board of Deacons. Blue We Care Cards are for messages of care to persons of the congregation; these cards are mailed the next week. Cards are available in the back of the room. Please place the cards in the offering plate. Your Prayer Concerns can now be submitted online. Please visit and they will be forwarded to a pastor.
