For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. BREAKING THE BREAD & POURING THE CUP COMMUNION OF THE PEOPLE Communion today is by intinction (dipping the bread into the cup). There will be four serving stations at the front of the sanctuary. After the choir is served, please come forward using the center aisle. The two outside cups, farthest from the center aisle, contain wine. The center two cups contain grape juice. Gluten-free bread is available in the center on the right side. Go to the serving station of your choice, and return to your pew by the side aisles. Those in the balcony or side pews are asked to make their way to the center aisle as well. If you are unable to come forward, remain seated and you may be served in the pew. 5 CONGRATULATIONS MICHELLE! Michelle Fisher, a senior at Kansas Wesleyan, is one of our Senior High Youth Leaders. She has been with us for 3 years. On May 7 th, Michelle will graduate from KWU with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology with emphasis on Pre- Physical Therapy. This summer she will start her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at The University of St. Mary s in Leavenworth, Kansas. While at KWU she played women s basketball for 2 seasons, was involved in Chem Club, Bio Club, Exercise Science Club and Athletic Training. Her favorite memories at FPC definitely involve FPC Nerf Wars and paintballing! Tricia, the Youth and the Youth and Young Adult Committee would like to thank Michelle and wish her the best of luck in all of her future endeavors! NO BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS TODAY Blood pressure checks will now be done every other month, on the first Sunday, beginning July 2 nd. If you are in need more often, please contact Becky Cram and she is happy to check them upon request. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT SUMMER YOUTH MISSION TRIP! WE NEED YOU July 16 th we will leave for Heifer International You ALL know about Heifer! It s going to be an amazing trip connecting our youth with an organization that our church, their families and they themselves have supported! Heifer has a minimum participation number of 12 we have to have at least 2 more adults and 4 more youth to go! We are now opening the trip up to incoming 6th graders, leaving it up to the parent to decide if they believe their child is mature enough for a week-long trip! The youth do not have to be members, invite a friend! Or grandchildren! If you are interested or know of someone who is please pick up a reservation packet in the office as soon as possible. Adults I promise you will not regret it... If you are interested please contact me at tricia@fpcsalina.org or call the office to get my cell phone number. If we do not have the numbers needed by May 21 st I will be forced to cancel the trip. Hope to hear from you soon! MISSION: ENVELOPE PART 2 Don t forget to GRAB AN ENVELOPE TO SUPPORT YOUTH MISSON! On the very large bulletin board by the elevator, there are 100 envelopes! Choose an envelope or 2 or 3!! Pull it off the board, take the fillings out, fill out your address card and place it and your donation (the amount on the envelope(s)) into the envelope. Return the envelope to either an offering plate or the church office! All Donations go to Youth Summer Mission Trip and Youth Mission! FPC NURSERY CLOSED: SUNDAY, MAY 28 The FPC nursery will be CLOSED on Sunday, May 28, in honor of Memorial Day weekend. We are giving our nursery workers the day away to enjoy a welldeserved weekend off. Please pass the word along to fellow FPC families or visitors. As always, children are welcome in worship - the nursery will be closed, but please don't let that hold you back from bringing your children to church! Thanks for your understanding!

6 LET S CELEBRATE FPC S 157 TH BIRTHDAY TOGETHER! Everyone is invited to the Parlor immediately following worship next Sunday, May 14, for birthday cake in celebration of FPC s 157 th birthday! PROJECT SALINA CHALLENGE! We have been challenged! It is time yet again for the Project Salina food drive. First Presbyterian Church and Sunrise Presbyterian Church have been assigned cans/packets of tuna. Our friends from Sunrise have challenged us to join them in collecting a total of 1,000 cans of tuna, or 500 by each church. Project Salina endeavors to enlist the entire town to help fill the pantry shelves of Ashby House, Salina Rescue Mission, DVAK, the Food Bank and the Salvation Army for the rest of the year! Bring your tuna to the north lobby at the church anytime throughout the month of May. SUMMER SOUL-STICE BEGINS JUNE 6 Do Justice... Love Mercy... Are You Kidding?! Our sixth Summer Soul-stice series begins June 6, with this year s focus on the separateness and polarization we seem to be facing these days, individually to worldwide. How do we learn to listen to and talk with each other, and to love one another even in our differences? Come hear the ideas of an artist, psychologist, theologian, and community activists committed to programs of restorative justice and get involved in some thoughtful discussions. Dates are June 6 at the Salina Art Center Warehouse, and June 20, July 11, July 25, and August 8 at First Presbyterian Church in the Chapel. Also NOTE TIME DIFFERENCES: June 6 and 20 at 9:30 AM; July 11, 25, and August 8 at 12 noon. Look for more complete information in the May and June newsletters. NOTE OF APPRECIATION TO CHILDREN S STAFF As summer approaches, it is easy to smile when reflecting on this wonderful year of laughter, growth, and fellowship that we've had with the children of FPC! In reflecting, we must also note that the activities planned and spent with the children would not have been as successful if it weren't for the amazing staff and volunteers that help! The Faithful Bible Investigators are blessed with the assistance of Sarah Payne, Penni White, Betty Norman, Chloe White, Cora White, Ella Payne and Hadley Johnston. Our FBI-In-Training kiddos get to spend their time with Danielle Hix, Anita Thompson, and Debb Homman. If you see any of these lovely ladies, please make sure to give them a HUGE "thank you" for all of the time, love, and gifts that they bring to the lives of the children here at FPC! We are so grateful for each of them! HEARTLAND DAY CAMP REGISTRATION AND VOLUNTEERS FPC and Sunrise Presbyterian will co-host Heartland Traveling Day Camp (VBS) for all children currently in Kindergarten through 6th grades, to be held at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, June Please register online at It's FREE for FPC members and guests so invite a friend! We still need volunteers to provide an easy meal prep for 5 young adult counselors on June 12 and June 14 and a lunch on June 16. 8 ITEMS NEEDED FOR GUATEMALA MINISTRY DONATION Adult Multivitamins (non-gender/non-generation specific) Children's Chewable Multivitamins (not gummy-type) Vaseline, 1.75oz Blood Pressure Cuff (new or used) Skill Saw (any brand) with a variety of blades for wood, metal rebar, and concrete blocks. 4-Medium Hammers (framer's hammers are too large for most Guatemalans) 3ft Level Compost Thermometer (approx. $28) Handheld concrete vibrator - 1HP (3ft x 1in or less stem, approx. $100-$150) Or funds to specifically support the purchase of any of these items - Thank You! FOR YOUR INFORMATION: FPC s Nursery, located on the second floor, is available for infants and children ages 5 and younger. FPC encourages children ages 6 and older to remain in worship. Worship bags for children of all ages are located in the lobby. When you are finished with the bag, please put it in the basket so that it can be replenished and straightened. Pew Art cards are also available in the pew racks. FBI (Faithful Bible Investigators) is our Christian Education program for children in grades K-5. FBI-In-Training is our Christian Education program for children age 2 through Pre-K. HeBrews is our Senior-High Youth Bible Study that meets every Thursday during the school year at 6:45 am at Moka s on Crawford. The name is derived from Hebrews 10:25. CIA (Christians In Action) is our Mid-High (6 th -8 th grades) Youth Group that meets Sunday mornings after worship. They study the Bible in a way that allows them to use energy and creativity to learn God s word. SWAT (Senior-high Worshipping All the Time) is our Senior-High (9 th -12 th grades) Youth Group that meets Sunday mornings after worship. This group focuses on mission and fellowship during this time. Adult Education Class meets every Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Hope Room. Extra hymnals, including large print, and Bibles are available in the back of the sanctuary. The sanctuary is equipped with a Hearing Loop. Please switch your hearing aid to t-coil to use. Please see your audiologist to activate your t-coil if you haven t done so yet. Headsets are also available. An usher will be happy to help if you need assistance. CONGREGATIONAL CARE: Tan Prayer Request Cards are for prayer requests or concerns. These go to the Board of Deacons. Blue We Care Cards are for messages of care to persons of the congregation; these cards are mailed the next week. Cards are available in the back of the room. Please place the cards in the offering plate. Your Prayer Concerns can now be submitted online. Please visit and they will be forwarded to a pastor. 9 Brittany Blackim will graduate from Salina High School Central as a Kansas Honor Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. Brittany has been very active in her school, lettering in tennis and band all four years. She participated in Spirit Ambassadors and was a captain of the VETS dance team. Outside of school, Brittany has been a member of the Salina Youth Symphony and The Tamara Howe School of Dance. She plans to major in Apparel and Textiles at Kansas State University, where she will also be a member of the KSU marching band. Kegan England plans on attending Kansas State University this fall to study psychology and art. She has spent her years at Central High School being involved in art, softball, yearbook, and National Honors Society. Kegan has also been actively involved with the church, going on mission trips to Guatemala and Chicago, and volunteering as one of the Mid- High Youth Leaders. She has also volunteered to help in Vacation Bible School multiple summers, and other various volunteer work set up by the First Presbyterian youth group. Kegan is thankful for the time she has spent as a member of FPC, and will always consider it to be home. Caroline Holgerson is the daughter of Jeff and Aimee Holgerson and sister to Grace. She will be graduating from Salina High School Central. Caroline is a Kansas Honors Scholar and member of National Honor Society. Caroline lettered in tennis and academics. She is a state qualifier in both tennis and journalism. She is a Co-Captain of the VETS dance team and Co-Editor in Chief of the Yearbook. Caroline will be attending Kansas State University in the fall and majoring in Marketing.

10 Sophia Justus will graduate from Salina High School Central on May 14th, She was active in softball, art, and French, and was the manager for the women's basketball team all four years. She is a member of SCHS National Honor Society and is a Kansas Honor Scholar. Sophia volunteered as a "Big" for Big Brothers Big Sisters starting her sophomore year and is still involved. Her future plans are to attend Kansas State University with an undecided major, but will minor in French. Kelsey Ketcher will graduate in May from Salina High School Central. She is a member of National Honor Society and is a Kansas Honors Scholar. Kelsey has participated in track, theater and vocal music. Outside of school she dances at Tamera Howe School of Dance. In her free time she enjoys reading and hanging out with friends. She plans to attend Kansas State University in Manhattan this fall and is undecided about her major. Kelsey is the daughter of Pat and Barb Neustrom. Emma Norris will graduate from Salina High School Central. During high school she has been a four year member of STUCO, a four year member of the journalism staff, a varsity soccer and tennis player, involved with Central s theatre program, and a school Spirit ambassador. Outside of high school, Emma studies dance with the Tamara Howe School of dance, and this year is the Event Chair for Saline County Youth Relay for Life. She is also a member of National Honor Society, and is a Kansas Honor Scholar. Next year Emma plans to attend the University of Kansas to study journalism and biology. Emma is the daughter of Veronica Norris and Kevin Norris Maria Putzier is graduating from Salina High School Central. Her parents are Pat and Kathleen Putzier, and her brother is Will Putzier. She will be attending KU this fall studying music and social work. Throughout high school, Maria has been in many high school productions, as well as shows at the Salina Community Theatre. She also has been dancing with the Iron Street Dance Company at SCT and singing in her school choir. She has a passion for equality and fighting social injustice.
