One: Let the people thank you, God! Let all the people thank you! All: Let the people celebrate and shout with joy because you judge the nations fairly and guide all nations on the earth. One: Let the people thank you, God! Let all the people thank you! All: The earth has yielded its harvest. God blesses us our God blesses us! 2 CALL TO CONFESSION Martha Rhea PRAYER OF CONFESSION One: Jesus called his followers to go into all the world and preach his gospel of love and justice to everyone. Yet instead, we often turn away, fearful and judgmental of what is new and different. All: God of compassion, hear us in our need. One: We are self-righteous, believing we know the best way, the right way. All: God of humility, hear us in our need. One: We ignore our likeness with our sisters and brothers, and instead built walls of separation with our minds and our hands, hemming in our hearts. All: God of justice, hear us in our need. One: We are consumed by our own wants and desires, instead of looking outward to teach, encourage, and share with others. All: God of community, hear us in our need. One: We shy away from bringing good news to others; we forget the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, is with us, equipping and empowering us. All: God of action, hear us in our need. One: Deliver us, O God, and hear us as we pray: All: God of mercy, forgive us. Live in us anew so that we might reorient our hearts and hear your call to us to seek a new earth where your children and all your creation live together in peace and anticipation. ASSURANCE OF PARDON SUNG RESPONSE TO PARDON Gloria Patri #581 Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. COMMUNION OF THE PEOPLE Communion today is by intinction (dipping the bread into the cup). There will be four serving stations at the front of the sanctuary. After the choir is served, please come forward using the center aisle. Keep us faithful to your will. We are the Coffee Group and we meet every 2 nd and 4 th Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the conference room off the parlor. We sometimes have a subject, but we often get way off that subject, so we sometimes just wing it; it is more about the sharing ideas and thoughts with fellow nicely-aged friends than sticking to a plan. We have a good time, and we are very informal. No one has to talk unless he/she wants to. And we really do have coffee available. For more information, call Joyce Pearson, Come join us! YOUTH GROUP FINALE PARTY: MAY 7 All 6 th -12 th graders are invited to our end-of-year party on Saturday, May 7, 5:30-9:00 p.m. at the Elite Sports Complex (7928 S Old Highway 81).
