As we leave past places and head for new ones, walk with us, lift burdens for us, reorient our steps towards you. Travelling God, teach us the breadth of your love and the diversity of your community as we search for the reconciliation, reorientation, and renewal that more closely resemble your kingdom here on earth. In your grace, give us the courage to cross boundaries into unexpected places, the compassion to seek the well-being of others the generosity of spirit to journey forward together into a richer blessing for all. Be our companion always in every step we take. So be it. Amen. Elders : The session shall consist of nine (9) elders Section 3. Election : There shall be three (3) classes of elders. Each class shall have three (3) members serving three-year terms. Roster of Nominees: For Elder Class of 2018: Matt Broadwell, Tricia LaSota, Dorothy Warren For Deacon Class of 2016: Nancy Best, Nancy Schaefer; Class of 2018: Lee Anne Hemberg, Diane Joppie, Bill Travis. Nominating Committee Class of 2017: Paulette Lein, Sue Koss CANDIDATE BIOGRAPHIES ELDERS Matt Broadwell Allison and I were married in 1995 and have two children, Madison, who attends Wayne State, and Pierce who is a Groves High School Senior. I was born and raised in Birmingham and graduated from Seaholm. I grew up going to a Congregational Church in Southfield, North Congregational Church. The church later moved and is currently located in Farmington. I graduated from U of M Dearborn with a BA in History. I work for Pulte Group as Branch Manager for Pulte Mortgage. I have served on the Worship Committee and am eager to continue to serve in anyway as needed. Northbrook has helped me realize my deep desire to be closer to God and that my spirituality should not be taken for granted but is something I need to continue to develop. I always look forward to the Wednesdays and Sundays when I can surround myself with other members and visitors who help me learn from their experiences and backgrounds in my search for a closer relationship with God. Tricia LaSota My husband, Frank, and I have been members of Northbrook since We met while attending U of M. After marrying in 1985, we moved to Beverly Hills and began searching for a church home, and we were fortunate to join the wonderful family of faith called Northbrook. I am thankful for the many ways Northbrook has helped my family grow in faith. We have a dog named Juno and two adult daughters. Allison lives in Franklin, Tennessee, and Claire is a senior at MSU. I have been an elder and served on the Mission Connection Committee, the Personnel Committee and the most recent Pastoral Nominating Committee. Over the years, I have been blessed to serve the children of Northbrook as a teacher for Vacation Bible School, LOGOS, and KIDS Connection and as a counselor at Church Camp. Currently, I continue to fill my passion for working with children through teaching at Northbrook Preschool. I am looking forward to serving as an elder again and am excited to see what God has planned for Northbrook as we grow stronger as a community of faith.

5 Dorothy Warren I am a 3 rd generation Detroiter. My three children are all in Michigan. Kim (Berkley) is a member at Greenfield Presbyterian Church. Rick lives in Royal Oak and David in St. Joseph. I have 4 grandchildren and two great-grandkids, a sister in Troy, a sister-in-law in Texas and many nieces and nephews. I was baptized in the Methodist church in Fenton, Michigan. I graduated from Cooley High in Detroit, attended Albion and graduated from Wayne State. I did some substitute teaching, but my career was accounting, especially tax. Currently, I serve as a Bingham Farms trustee. I was a teenager in the Presbyterian Church and have been a member for over 60 years. I began at Grace in Detroit, then to St. Paul s in Livonia, on to Southfield, Church of Our Savior in West Bloomfield, First Pres. of Farmington and now Northbrook. I have been a deacon, elder, member of a PNC, a Sunday school teacher and a preschool chair. Northbrook has meant a great deal to me in the very short time I ve been here. We felt welcome from the first time we walked through the door. There were a few familiar faces but the new ones went out of their way also. You embody all the elements of what I believe to be necessary in a church; the way we worship, the choice of mission opportunities, the priorities in talent and treasure, the fellowship and support. CANDIDATE BIOGRAPHIES DEACONS Bill Travis I have been a member of Northbrook since January 18, I have held many positions at Northbrook including being a 3-term Elder, member Self Study in 2009/2010, member of the PNC in 2010, garage sale Chair/Co-Chair, greeter coordinator, SOS Transportation, funeral usher, member of the Sunday Morning Bible Class, member of Men s Connection, Children s Sunday school teacher. I bring both financial and organizational abilities to my work at Northbrook. I love my family, my church, my friends and my countries. My faith journey continues at Northbrook where my teachers are all the congregation. I retired in By trade, I was an accountant in industry. I am pleased to be aboard the Good Ship Northbrook. Let s set sail together. Lee Anne Hemberg Hello Northbrook! I am Lee Anne Hemberg, long time member of this congregation and very excited to serve as your deacon. I was raised and confirmed at Northbrook, married my U of M sweetheart, Don, here 36 years ago and our 4 children were baptized, confirmed and lovingly supported by this congregation. We also have three beautiful daughters-in-law, 4 precious grandchildren as well as our dog Buster. I have served as a deacon and elder here in the past as well as participating in choir, LOGOS, garage sale and as camp nurse. As deacon, I will do my best to give back to Northbrook the care and kindness that it has always given me. Nancy Best I have been a member of Northbrook for 22 years. During my first few months, I began my service as a Sunday school teacher and then moved to a variety of roles including elder, clerk of session, LOGOS volunteer and deacon. I currently work as a school secretary for Birmingham Public Schools and enjoy reading and bicycle riding. My greatest joy is watching my adult children navigate their lives and careers.

6 Diane Joppie I was born in Cadillac, MI and baptized into the Christian Reformed Church as an infant along with my twin sister, Donna. I graduated from Northern Michigan Christian High School in McBain, MI & Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Mi. Doug and I were married on March 7, We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary this year! We have three children: Jen (Neil) Bright in Atlanta, GA; Chris (Samantha) Joppie in Ferndale, MI; and Alex (Andrea) Joppie in Chicago, IL. We also have four of the most adorable grandchildren you have ever seen Sara, Colin, Tristan, and Grayson. I worked as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac for a total of 40 years. Last year, I decided to leave to pursue a full time avocation of care-giving to my parents and grandchildren along with enjoying life with my wonderful husband. Doug and I have been active members of the Reformed Church of America. In the past, we were leaders of Senior High and Junior High Youth Groups. I also served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher and was a member of several small group bible studies. We started attending Northbrook about eight years ago after extensive searching when our previous church closed. We chose Northbrook not only because of the message preached but because of the active participation and action on that message. Every week, we find friendly people working hard to walk the walk and live the love of Jesus. Sunday mornings center my week and remind me of God s love and steer me to make a difference in the world. Nancy Schaefer I have been a member of Northbrook for 50 years. Prior to that, our family were members of Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Detroit. I have served as Elder, Deacon and on several committees including Building & Grounds for many years. Singing in the choir was a joy! BRUNCH BUNCH TODAY FOLLOWING THE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING Brunch Bunch has moved Sundays this month. Brunch Bunch will take place today immediately following the Congregational Meeting. Please see Phil and Judy Owen for location details. There will be no Brunch Bunch on October 25.
