2 PRAYER OF CONFESSION One: Glorious God, your thoughts are not our thoughts, nor are your ways our ways. You look at the ugliest soul and see, unstirred, the wings of an angel. All: We scan the finest of our neighbors, anxious to find the flaws. One: You see our lives in the context of eternity, and make a time for waiting, for yearning, for putting all things in proportion. All: We demand instant results, and look for tomorrow before savoring today. One: You know that only one who suffers can ultimately save, so you choose to walk the way of the cross. All: We feel judged and threatened by that love which risks all for all. One: Your thoughts are not our thoughts. All: Nor are your ways our ways. PLEASE WELCOME OUR NEW MEMBERS MICHAEL BUSCAINO Mike grew up in Coral Gables, Florida and attended the University of Houston. He founded Fontina Foods in 1984 in his townhouse kitchen. Today, Fontina has grown to supply a core line of refrigerated, fresh processed stabilized herbs and spices, sauces and marinades. Mike currently assists his wife, Michele, in her foodservice bakery business, Emmie s Bake Shoppe. He resides in Birmingham with his wife and they have a son, Michael. His hobbies include running and golf. He is choosing to join Northbrook because of its amazing culture and his family. KEITH LEE Keith grew up in Tennessee and Michigan. You may have already met him as he is the owner operator of Alert Road Testing and Alert Driving School that currently does road testing in the Northbrook parking lot. Keith s hobbies include oil painting, playing the drums and guitar, RC airplanes, motor cycle riding and hot rod cars. Even before joining, Keith has been lending a hand at Northbrook as a member of the Building & Grounds Committee.

7 JACK MACFARLANE Jack MacFarlane is transferring his membership back to Northbrook from the Kirk in the Hills. Jack joined Northbrook back in the 70 s and then moved on to the Kirk. Jack joins his son, Tom MacFarlane, in membership here again at Northbrook. FLU SHOTS TODAY Join us for a flu or pneumonia shot from 9:30 11:30 a.m. Flu shots are $33 if not covered by insurance and pneumonia shots are $95 if not covered by insurance. RETIREMENT PARTY Please RSVP by October 21st for Marjorie s retirement party on Sunday, October 28 at 5 p.m. TRUNK OR TREAT WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24 On Wednesday October 24th from 6:30-7:30 p.m., the Children s Ministry committee will host a Trunk or Treat for Halloween. For those not familiar with the concept, Trunk or Treat is a safe, small environment where kids can trick or treat by walking in the Northbrook parking lot from car to car, trick or treating! To make this event a huge success, we are in need volunteers who would be willing to decorate their car trunks and hand out candy from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in our parking lot. This is a fun, family friendly all ages event. If you are interested in participating, feel free to contact Terri Hurbis at terri.hurbis@gmail.com or (248) Please plan to arrive by 6 p.m. so we can arrange the cars in the parking lot. We suggest planning candy for kids. Finally, invite your family, friends and neighbors! Any questions, don t hesitate to reach out! We are looking forward to a GREAT event! LOGOS DINNERS Calling all cooks! We would love your help with LOGOS Dinners. All you need to do is come up with a meal, spend between $ dollars and cook a healthy simple meal for 30 people on Wednesday nights. PUB THEOLOGY TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23 Join us on Tuesday, October 23 at 7 p.m. for conversation, appetizers and a good time. People of all ages are welcome.
