Through the goodness and mercy of God, Who has blessed you with so many graces which led you to the true faith and to a high degree of holiness, pray to God for me and help me. Obtain for me a very fervent devotion to the Holy Eucharist so that I may love Holy Mass as you did and receive Holy Communion as often as I can. Teach me also to be devoted to my crucified Savior as you were, that I may cheerfully bear my daily crosses for love of Him Who suffered so much for love of me. Most of all, I beg you to pray for me that I may avoid sin, lead a holy life and save my soul. Amen.

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS POSTER CONTEST The LaGrange Knights of Columbus Council #13378 is inviting all boys & girls from ages 5 through 14 to participate in the Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest. The contest will be conducted locally with winning entries advancing to the district/region and then to state, national and international levels. The winning entries will serve as the basis for a series of new Christmas posters that encourage a deeper understanding of the holiday. Entry forms will be located in the narthex of St. Kateri Church or at the entry hall of the Religious education building. Posters must be submitted no later than December 9th. THE GIVING TREE The +TLC+ Teen Group will place two trees in the Narthex with gift tags for the needy of our county. Most of these gifts are distributed by Catholic Charities in Poughkeepsie. We encourage that every family take a gift label and return the gift with the gift label placed on the gift. Each gift is for a specific individual, so please return them unwrapped. We ask that the gifts and gift cards be returned by Sunday, December 11th. If you were requested to obtain a gift card, please return that with the label in the collection basket. If you did not receive a gift label, you can assist by donating any gift card. MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT We meet the second Saturday of every month. CHRISTMAS FOOD BASKETS Christmas season is a time of festivity and joy. Consider donating a food basket to those in need to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Items needed are: turkey or ham, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, white potatoes, sweet potatoes, fresh vegetables, salad mix & dressing, rolls, butter, milk, eggs, fresh fruit, dessert, coffee, tea, cold beverages and a foil pan. We also accept loose items. Drop off for baskets is December 18 th 10 am-12 noon at St. Columba. Baskets are blessed at 1pm and disbursement will follow. 5 DECEMBER HEALING MASS A special Healing Mass, with a free flow of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the laying on of hands, will be held Tuesday December 6 th at St. Kateri. Guest celebrants will be Fr. Vincent Druding of Assumption parish in Peekskill and Fr. James Sheridan of St. Columba in Hopewell Junction. Praise and worship begins at 7 pm; Mass at 7:30 pm. Attendees are welcome to bring water, salt and oil for blessing. The laying on of hands for prayer will take place after Mass. All are welcome. The event is sponsored by Spirit Wind Prayer Group of St. Kateri parish. Contact Pat or Joe at MARIAPOLIS LUMINOSA NATIVITY DISPLAY Each Christmas, throughout the month of December, Mariapolis Luminosa displays over 200 Nativity scenes from every continent in the world. People come from near and far to visit this beautiful event. Mariapolis Luminosa is located at 200 Cardinal Rd., Hyde Park, NY This year, we would like to invite you to visit the Nativity Display and have lunch here at Mariapolis Luminosa on one of the 3 scheduled dates: Thursday, December 8 th Tuesday, December 13 th Thursday, December 15 th. The tone reaches a climax in the words, One nation shall not raise the sword against another, nor shall they train for war again. Second Reading: Romans 13:11-14 Paul invites us to put away all the things of darkness and sin and to prepare for the coming of Christ. Gospel: Matthew 24:37-44 A comparison is made between the destruction caused by the flood in Noah s time and the need to be prepared for the second coming of Christ. You must be prepared in the same way. The Son of Man is coming at the time you least expect. A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly First Sunday of Advent November 27, 2016 You know the time in which we are living. It is now the hour for you to wake from sleep, for our salvation is closer than when we first accepted the faith Let us cast off the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the desires of the flesh. For twenty centuries, faithful Christians have listened to and read Saint Paul s exhortation. No one can deny that his inspired word is not true. Because of the long time span though, we may have fallen asleep. We are encouraged to begin this new period of advent with an eager enthusiasm, seeking ways to discover the presence of the Christ of history, as well as the Christ who is and is coming. Advent summons us to look with a new set of eyes at what the coming of Christ means for us in He comes in the gift of friends. He comes in the gift of prayer. He comes from those in need who ask us to be light to overcome their darkness. As daylight grows short, may we be light for others to see that the coming of the Lord is even more important now than advent We pray the words of Revelation Come Lord Jesus.
