I admire the virtues which adorned your soul: love of God and neighbor, humility, obedience, patience, purity and the spirit of sacrifice. Help me to imitate your example in my state of life. Through the goodness and mercy of God, Who has blessed you with so many graces which led you to the true faith and to a high degree of holiness, pray to God for me and help me. Obtain for me a very fervent devotion to the Holy Eucharist so that I may love Holy Mass as you did and receive Holy Communion as often as I can. Teach me also to be devoted to my crucified Savior as you were, that I may cheerfully bear my daily crosses for love of Him Who suffered so much for love of me. Most of all, I beg you to pray for me that I may avoid sin, lead a holy life and save my soul. Amen.

3 From the Pastor's Desk... To tell you the truth, it wasn t even three hours after arriving at Spring Lake for the Pastors Conference, I began to miss our parish. I reached at 4:30 pm. After registration, I joined for evening prayer at 4:45 pm followed by dinner. At 7:30 pm, I was thinking about Monday Adoration, confessions and Benediction in our Chapel. I have to thank Fr. Mac- Donald for taking good care of everything in my absence. The main theme of the conference this year was Evangelization in Difficult Times. Mrs. Julianne Stanz, the director of Evangelization in Green Bay diocese, was the main speaker. She shared her experience of encountering Christ during her teenage years in Ireland that led to her conversion and commitment to Christ. She pleaded with all of us to preach Christ from the heart, not from the head, to live with Christ and lead our flock to live with Christ. It was very inspiring to all. I wish she would come to preach in our Church. We had absolutely gorgeous weather all three days, sunny, cool and close to the beach. Many of us used the break in the afternoon for a walk on the boardwalk. But I think, I would prefer our landscape with all the hills surrounding us. We may not realize it, but we are truly blessed with hills and valleys. Enjoy them. Cardinal Dolan engaged us for one afternoon with his appreciation for our ministry and presenting us with all the problems and struggles of our great Archdiocese in these difficult times. He invited us to trust in Christ and commit fully to his Body, the Church. On the last day, our priests wellness coordinator, Deacon Steve DeMartino gave us a few tips to keep ourselves fit spiritually, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and psychologically. On Thursday, I made a request to the Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace, whether I could stay for a night and offer Morning Mass. I spent the night in the Rectory and offered the 8:30 Mass. They were truly surprised to see me. I had a lovely time visiting them and offering Mass for them. It was a great week with plenty of blessings. Now, I am back with you. Thanks be to God. MARY'S HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR Saturday, November 10th, 9 am - 3 pm, 2 Convent Ave., Wappingers Falls. Many vendors and specialty items. A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly Bartimaeus, a blind man, son of Timaeus, sat by the roadside begging. On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me. Jesus stopped and said, Call him. He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. Jesus said to him in reply, What do you want me to do for you? The blind man replied to him Master, I want to see. Jesus told him, Go your way, your faith has saved you. Immediately he received his sight and followed Him on the way. The parable of the Good Samaritan told on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. It was a story of compassion. Today we have the meeting of Bartimaeus, the blind beggar, that took place on that road. He heard it was Jesus, and called out to Him in his need. The dialogue was simple and clear. What he needed and Jesus response. How many other Bartimaeus are there in our own time? People, described by Pope Francis as marginalized sitting on the side. They too want to hear of Jesus, cry out to Him in their pain, and seek the compassion, help and mercy of Jesus. It might seem easy, to cross to the other side of the street, to speed up, or ignore the cry. Is that the Christian response? In the mail each day, on the television, there are continued requests for the kindness and mercy of Jesus. The requests for donations grow and the hurts of others tug at our hearts and purse strings. We cannot respond to all requests, but we can as Jesus did. The faith of Bartimaeus restored his sight and he followed Jesus on the way. The hand of Jesus reaching out and responding to one more request can make a big change in the life of someone else.
