Through the goodness and mercy of God, Who has blessed you with so many graces which led you to the true faith and to a high degree of holiness, pray to God for me and help me. Obtain for me a very fervent devotion to the Holy Eucharist so that I may love Holy Mass as you did and receive Holy Communion as often as I can. Teach me also to be devoted to my crucified Savior as you were, that I may cheerfully bear my daily crosses for love of Him Who suffered so much for love of me. Two smaller meals may be taken which do not equal the full meal. No food may be taken between meals. Fast days are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Everyone between the ages of 18 and 59 are bound to the fasting obligation. Abstinence means not eating meat. Meat consumption is forbidden on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent. KATERI MIDNIGHT RUN St. Kateri is doing a Midnight Run on Saturday, March 28 th, for the homeless, and we are in need of the following items: men s jeans men s boots sleeping bags winter jackets gift cards from major retailers socks and underwear, brand new only! A special thanks to everyone who participated in the last run, we exceeded the supplies needed and had a huge impact on the less fortunate. One of the most powerful images that kind of defined the night was at our last stop one of our volunteers did a simple act of kindness-he went over to a sleeping person and without fanfare, took one of our blankets and put it over the person! 4 Lenten Series at Saint Kateri The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass Join Fr. Achanyi on Friday evenings for a reflection on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It is an attempt to help deepen our devotion to this most ancient of prayers. 3/6: God is present in the Most Blessed Sacrament 3/13: We are active participants actually standing at the foot of the Cross. 3/20: Offertory 3/27: The Mass is the occasion of the utmost reverence. The Reflection will be followed by Stations of the Cross. The evenings begin at 7 pm in the church and will last for about 45 minutes (including Stations) CARDINAL'S APPEAL SAINT KATERI PARISH GOAL As you are aware, we are conducting the Cardinal's Appeal for For those who have not pledged, cards will be available in the back of the church this weekend. MARCH HEALING MASS A healing Mass, with a free flow of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, will be held Tuesday, March 3 rd at St. Kateri. Guest celebrant is Fr. Thursday, March 19 th : Catholic Classics Book of the Month Club. We'll discuss Diary of a Country Priest, by George Bernanos, the 1936 novel about a sickly young French priest who learns humility while serving his simple parishioners.
