Help me to journey in faith when the path is dimmed or obscured from that which You have planned for me. When I can only see through a glass darkly, help me to trust You for what is yet to come. May I have a believing, obedient spirit even when I don t fully understand Your plan. For Your thoughts are not my thoughts nor are Your ways my ways. They are higher and wiser, for they are of divine origin, so help me to be mindful that You always know what s best and will lead me according to Your will and Your timing. Amen. WHAT IS A CHRISTIAN While we might consider ourselves relatively good the fact is we are naturally opposed to God and His plan for our lives. This nature and the things we do because of this nature result in sin. But God loves us and has overcome sin for us. He did this by sending His Son, Jesus, to bridge the gap created by sin. Now we are no longer separated from God because Jesus has brought us back together: God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their sins against them. (II Corinthians 5: 19) The one who believes this is a Christian. REGARDING HOLY COMMUNION. Members of sister Lutheran congregations are, of course, invited to join us at the Lord's Table. Others are requested to consult with the Pastor before communing with us the first time. In this way you will help us be responsible in our administration of the Sacrament and you, in turn, will be blessed as you commune with us. NOTE: In the center of each communion tray are a few glasses with non-alcohol wine for those who are on alcohol restrictive medications or wish to abstain from alcohol for personal reasons. 2 Wednesday Evening Bible Study Come join our Bible Study led by Pastor Rolf. We meet in the Fellowship Hall every Wednesday evening from 6:30 until approximately 7:45. We will be studying the Catechism and Book of Concord. This will be a very interesting and enlightening study. Everyone is welcome! DRIVER S NEEDED!!!! We need volunteers to bring other members to church with them so they can attend regularly. We are hoping to have at least 10 to 12 volunteers to pick up members so that one individual would only have to pick up once a month. Please consider helping your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to come to church. If you can help, please speak with Pastor Rolf for more information. Stop Before You Throw or Recycle! Have you already started pulling 2016 calendars out of your mailbox? You know the ones I m talking about the beautiful patriotic or flower ones with an accompanying suggested donation? For the next four months or so, bring those calendars to church and put in Peggy Noah s or Punky McDaniel s box so they can take them to Beautiful Savior Home in Belton. Many, many calendars are used in residents rooms during the year and nerd replacing each time the rooms have new occupants. This is such an easy way to provide a much needed servicer. All calendars are appreciated. Growing in Wisdom and in Grace at GIP... How awesome it must have been to be one of Jesus' disciples having a front row view of the many miraculous events. In our lesson this week, 'Wedding at Cana', we witness the first miracle of Jesus as he turns water into wine. It is significant because it shows how Jesus revealed His power to the people, as well as how He brings abundance to our lives. Jesus truly is all we need and can always fill our voids. God gives us gifts and blessings to overflowing not because we deserve it, but rather because He loves us so much! Bible words: "With God all things are possible." Pink, pink, pink: Does that grab your attention? Does it remind you of little girls? How about little babies? Surely you ve noticed the little pink basket that s been sitting for years, tucked back in the corner under the bulletin board shelves. It s so unassuming and so small, but it does a silent ministry of showing love to babies at Truman Medical East who are just beginning their earthly lives. Caring women (not all Peace members, by the way) knit and knit, providing tiny booties to be sent home with newborn babies. These ladies certainly have hearts of love and hands that are not idle. If you care to add booties (bought or homemade) do so at any time. All are gratefully used.
