3 LWML The topic for the July 2015 Circle Meeting is in the Summer 2015 Quarterly, on page 16, entitled Shame, Recognizing and Neutralizing the Toxicity by David Muench. David A. Muench is the Director of Ministerial Care of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO and The University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NB. He is an ordained minister in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. David and his wife Mary, his high school sweetheart, have been married for 42 years and have six (6) children and thirteen (13) grandchildren. Shame On You!. The destructive nature of shame is not only connected to relationships in our personal and family lives but the negative impact can also be seen in relationships at work in the school, our community, even in the Church. The importance of understanding the antidote for shame can hardly be overstated. That antidote is the bedrock of our Christian faith. Shame loses its power in the certainty that we have righteousness by grace through faith in Jesus. Roll Call Word is Shame. Alpha Circle will meet the first Monday, July 6 at 7:00 pm at the home of Norma Whitaker with Carol Head as her co-hostess. The topic will be led by Ruth Brackman and Cindy McCubbin will check the acolyte robes for laundering or mending needs. For more information please call the President of Esther Circle, Lois Gilham at Please note the change of meeting time and place th Anniversary Celebration -- On July 18th, 2015, Peace Lutheran, Lutheran Women s Missionary League will celebrate 60 years as a mission organization affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. A handful of women planted a seed where women within the Peace congregation could join together and form a society to the Lord s service. The seed took root, grew and flourished. They organized auxiliaries and served institutions such as: General Hospital Tuberculosis Hospital Florence Crittenton Home Jackson County Jail Jackson County Public Hospital Florence Home Helping Hand Institute for Men Veterans Hospital Catherine Hale Home for Blind Women At one time there were seven (7) Circles serving as volunteers sewing, distributing cookies and candies, funds as needed, providing literature for the work of the Chaplains and so much more. Then there is that little Mite Box located on the counter in the hallway in our church. Every month pennies, nickels and dimes are collected for Mission projects state and world wide. Mites received this biennium totaled $1,852, Every penny going to the Mite Box is accompanied with a prayer to our gracious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Congratulations Peace Lutheran Women s Missionary League in your 60 years of reaching out to the needy, helpless, hungry, destitute, homeless, with love and compassion to all God s people. May God continue to bless our beloved League and the women who serve so tirelessly. To God be the Glory!!! Installation -- As members of Peace Lutheran Women s Missionary League we welcome our newly installed Pastor David Rolf to our congregation and we look forward to working and serving our Lord together with the same zeal and compassion as befitting the moto of our League. 4 Peace Organizations HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT IT?? 10 FEET OR $10 It s hoped all have had a chance to read the explanation for the why, what and when of this slogan. Your help is greatly appreciated. If nothing else, an encouraging word to those involved and a positive attitude is always appreciated. $120 in cash and a wrought iron table and chairs were already forthcoming last Sunday. The sign up chart is in the entry way. You can t miss it. If there is an area that s not mentioned, don t hesitate to add it with a post-it note along with your name. Your suggestions to the committee members will be added to all the others. Altar Flowers There are many Sundays available for you to acknowledge special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, or remembrances. Religious Display Sewing Bee The ladies plan to meet every Monday in July. We meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 am; bring a sack lunch and stay into the afternoon. By mid June we had completed 76 quilts. Several have been given to the Ozanam Home and many will be given to the Christmas Stores at Good Shepherd Mission and Metro Lutheran Ministry. Please remember to save the UPC s from Best Choice products and also the Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education that are on many products. Also save cancelled postage stamps, especially commemorative stamps. Containers for these items are on the shelf in the Narthex. Greeting cards are available for purchase by the box or by the card. Individual cards are $0.50 and the boxed cards are $5.00 per box. Check out the display in the social room and outside the entrance to the social room. Each purchase helps support our LWML. OWLS OWLS will meet on the 2nd Tuesday, July 14 in the Fellowship Hall. We are having hamburgers and hot dogs. Please bring a side dish. The Messenger of Peace

New Children Joining Grow in Peace Quintin Clark Infant/Toddler Raegen Moore Preschool Amiyah Haynes - Preschool Welcome back to all of our Summer School children for the rest of the summer. May God bless the education and care they will receive while attending Grow in Peace. On Sunday, July 12 th will be Pastor Rolf s first time preaching at Peace Lutheran Church. Services are 8:30am and 11:00am. Glorious Father, Thank you for allowing Pastor Rolf to finish his seminary studies and accept the call to become our new Pastor here at Peace Lutheran. Be with him and his family as they adjust to their new home and gain new friendships. AMEN!

8 Miscellaneous Organizations Raytown Summer Lunch Ministry Book Club The Raytown Summer Lunch Ministry will need volunteers for delivery of lunches from July 6th through August 14th. Lunch packers will be needed Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The Director of RSLM would prefer for us to select one day and send a group on that day every week. Needed items are Zippered snack and sandwich baggies, napkins (family sized) and foil sheets that will help to keep food warm (Possible at Dirty Dons).
