We believe that Jesus came to redeem mankind and that through his sacrifice, those who believe in him may have life in all its fullness (John 10:10). We pray that this may be your experience. If you are visiting or worshipping with us for the first time, we hope you will be able to stay for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee after the Service. A crèche for children under school age is held each Sunday. ask one of the stewards for more information. Please RETIRING COLLECTIONS during January and February will be for Mission Aviation Fellowship. MAF flies light aircraft over jungles, mountains, swamps and deserts to enable over 2000 aid, development and mission organisations to bring medical care, emergency relief, long-term development and Christian hope to thousands of communities. TIME TO GO.. It s definitely time I give up, Debbie doesn t take any notice of me!!! I told her, no fuss, no presents, no need. Really though I just want to say a big thank you to you ALL, not just for the flowers and lovely bible, which I will treasure, but for supporting me as Treasurer all these years. I must say I give thanks to the God we love, because I m quite sure I couldn t have done that job without his grace. Finally I would like to thank Annette for taking up the baton. I am quite sure she will make you an excellent new Treasurer. With most grateful thanks again. Sue Howard WORSHIP IN WORDS. An evening to celebrate Christian literature is going to take place at BMC on Friday, March 29 (7.30pm). Do you have a favourite poem, Bible verse, extract from a novel, quotation, etc, that you would be willing to read on the night? Or we can read it for you. The funeral of Debbie Copplestone, daughter of Frank and Edith Copplestone, and mother of Becky, will take place at BMC on Friday 8th March at 11 am. Page 2

3 BERTIE KEENAN. The funeral for Rev Leslie ( Bertie ) Keenan will be held at St Olafs church, Poughill, near Bude, N. Cornwall, on Saturday March 2 at 2.30pm. Donations will be to LAMA Ministries, Philippines (Life and More Abundant Ministries, which he founded in 1983 and provides long-term residential care for boys who have suffered abuse or been abandoned) instead of flowers please. BUSINESS MEETINGS. A Church General Meeting is to be held in the Church on Monday, March 11th at 7.00pm. All are welcome. This is to be followed by a Church Council Meeting. If you have anything that you would like brought forward at the meeting could you put it in writing and give to either Debbie or Tracy by Wednesday March 6th. DIARY DATE. Launceston Male Voice Choir will be here at B.M.C on Saturday 16th March for a concert starting at 7pm. Amy Hodgson. Friendship Group Starting from February 26th pm Looking for willing volunteers to help run a Friendship Group on a Tuesday afternoon. The more willing volunteers the better the rota. All that you would have to do is make coffee and tea and have a good listening ear and be a friendly face. Looking for people available to be a transport person to collect and take people home as well. Also I am looking for volunteers to deliver flyers through doors, even if you just do your road or a small area round where you live would be appreciated. There will be a list of roads in Bude and if you can help please take enough leaflets and cross out the road you will cover, the list will be at the back of the church. Any queries please ask me. Dear All, Thank you for your wonderful donations during December: your contribution to us was kgs. This really did help those in need we sent out 372 food parcels which fed 468 adults and 589 children. This has been the busiest month since our food bank started there are so many reasons for this happening but the main one is that people are just earning enough wages to cover the bills and to buy the food, which is the main reason at the moment for there hardship. We are in URGENT need of the following items Sugar, Coffee, Jam, Tinned Beans /Sausages, Tinned Spag/Sausages, Tinned, Frozen or fresh Veggie, Tinned Tomatoes, Backed Beans, Tinned Meat, Tinned Fish, Rice 1 kg, Toiletries, Toilet Rolls. Again thank you for your continued support. God Bless Sue Jarvis Bude Food Bank Manager DONATIONS FOR REFUGEES There are still several hundred refugees living in appalling conditions in the countryside of northern France, with no support from the authorities. They depend on aid from charities like Mobile Refugee Support and our local contact Rob Butler in Launceston. He will be making another journey across to France in early March with donations to distribute - can you help? He is particularly looking for:tents... Sleeping bags... Blankets... Torches & Batteries....Men`s warm and waterproof coats and jackets (sizes small and medium)... Waterproof footwear (sizes 40 to 44)... Men`s new underwear and socks... Rucksacks and backpacks... Old mobile phones... Food - Tea and coffee. Sugar. Cereal bars. Biscuits, Tins of fish/ tomatoes/ kidney beans. 6 Bradworthy Methodist Chapel Sankey Evening led by Rev Shirley Henderson Sunday 24 th March at 7.00 pm Guest Organist: Colin Tape Andrew Millman: Devonshire Tales Jaik Payne - Soloist Collection for ShelterBox and Chapel Funds Supper to follow Christians Together Lent Series The suffering and persecuted church Every year as part of our working together and sharing God s love mission in Bude and Stratton, we run a series of meetings for all the local churches with the dual aim of building each other up and sharing an outward focus. This during a time when the church calendar reminds us of the sacrificial mission of Jesus, our Saviour. This year, for our 6 Thursday evenings commencing 7 th March, we will follow last year s very successful format of meeting in a variety of churches throughout the Lent Series. Each of the churches will be choosing an area within our overall theme which is close to their own heart and this we hope will broaden the knowledge of all of us for this important subject. We will learn through a variety of media, including personal testimony, what it is like to be part of the suffering and persecuted church of Jesus in our ever increasingly hostile world. And we will hope to respond with more informed prayer and any other means available to us to encourage those who so much appreciate the support of fellow Christians around the world.
