Construction started on March 1 and is about a month ahead of schedule, thanks to the many volunteers who have worked on the project to date. In order to meet our projected June 1 completion date, we need lots of volunteers to help with painting, trim, flooring, cabinetry, and other finish work. That work got started on April 19 and will continue on Thursdays and Saturdays through May. If you have already registered as a Habitat Volunteer, follow this link to Habitat s website calendar page: -calendar to select the dates you can work. If you have not already registered as a volunteer with Habitat, you will first need to do so at before proceeding to the calendar. Andy D Aloisio is serving as Epworth s point of contact and liaison with Habitat. If you have questions about the project, please contact Andy at apdaloisio@gmail.com or This home is being built by Sussex County Habitat for Humanity in partnership with the Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches (LRAC), of which Epworth is a member. 6 PATHWAYS to Transformation The Journey Continues Epworth United Methodist Church, Wednesdays, 9:30 11:00 a.m., June 13 August 1. How are we preparing our spiritual soil for the growth of the seeds of transformation? These seeds are planted in each and all of us. But they must be fed, watered and nurtured before they can grow, bear fruit and be harvested. But how can we provide this nurturing? Christ became man in order to reveal to us our own true nature and to empower us to live as children of God. His life serves as a model. He is the way, the truth and the light/life. Thomas Merton described this transformation in these words: In perfect humility all selfishness disappears and your soul no longer lives for itself or in itself for God.it is lost and submerged in Him and transformed into Him. [from New Seeds of Contemplation by Merton] This weekly dialogue will explore the meaning of this transformation and how we can ready our soil for this incredible spiritual becoming, which is our gift from God and our ultimate purpose here on earth. We are here to make our world a better place. Look around! How are we doing? TO REGISTER, call Toni Worsham at Baker Lounge Library Our library collection is expanding! New books are added each week to the bookcase in the Narthex. Stop by and sign one out today! Good Samaritan Program The Good Samaritan Program, aka Good Sam, needs more volunteers. If you d like to help people in the local community with emergency food and other assistance, please contact Walt Smith at or wtsmith623@gmail.com. Thanks. Vital Conversations/Exploring Racism Sign up now for Vital Conversations/Exploring Racism, presented by Bridging the Divide, a joint ministry of Faith, Israel and Epworth United Methodist Churches. Vital Conversations is a series of 8 discussions about race and ethnicity. Most importantly, these discussions are about you and your fellow Christians. They are frank and challenging and are designed to elicit and, by this, to examine our own views of racism and the factors that have contributed to it. The first session will consist of an introduction to the material, and each of the remaining sessions will open with a short video followed by discussion in small groups with a final wrap-up of the entire group. Starts Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. May 1 through June 19 at Faith UMC, Church Street, at the entrance to Rehoboth Beach. There is ample free parking. Sign -up in the Narthex, david.davdgn@gmail.com or phone Ruth Ann Curley at or David Dagenais at Like to Pray? Epworth s Pastoral Care Team needs Volunteers! Life is good here at Epworth Church! But what if you are sick, in the hospital, homebound, receiving hospice care; what happens to your spiritual life then? Who will pray with you and your loved ones, how will you receive communion? Your church family feels a commitment to each individual s spiritual and emotional well-being. Our Pastoral Care volunteers play an essential role in enriching the spiritual lives of members of our congregation when they are sick, homebound or unable to attend church, and in need of spiritual prayers and healing. You could make a difference in someone's day by providing prayerful companionship. Volunteers in this area have a strong interest in prayer, are very caring with heartfelt sincerity, have patience and are able to offer a respectful, sympathetic and comforting attitude with members of our church and their family members who are in need of prayerful companionship! Epworth s Pastoral Care Ministry needs help! If you feel this may be something you are interested in, please call or Mickie at or mmcmanamon@eumcrb.org. Let s talk and see if this ministry will bless you and members of our church in spiritual need!
