But it s complicated. The simple lessons we were taught as children aren t quite adequate for navigating healthy relationships with family and friends in the 21 st Century. From social media to modern families, even if you think you ve got it figured out, healthy relationships can be challenging. 4 Share The Love How do you feel when you receive a Valentine s Card or have someone tell you I Love You? What would it feel like to never receive a card, an I Love You or a visit? We know some people in our community that are not blessed with cards, warm words, thoughts, and hugs! They live in our nursing homes and from time to time Epworth delivers flowers to Renaissance and Harbor Health asking the activity director to give them to people who never receive flowers, calls, or visitors. This year for Valentine s Day when you purchase a card for your loved ones please buy an extra card and write it out to someone you do not know. We will deliver those cards to Renaissance and Harbor Health asking for them to be delivered to those alone and who need to remember the words we all want to hear. I Love You! Happy Valentine s Day! FIRE (Faithfully Inviting & Reconciling Everyone Is hosting an open forum on The Way Forward TODAY, at 6:00 p.m., in the FH. Come and join the discussion as we move closer to the meeting of General Conference to decide the future of the United Methodist Church. Trustees Reminder The Trustees would like to remind everyone that food and beverages (except for closed water bottles) are not allowed in the Sanctuary. In addition to preventing stains on upholstery and floors, there is also a safety concern. Calling All Miracles!!! If you ve witnessed a miracle in your life or in the lives of your family or friends and would like to share it let us know! Pastors are planning a series on modern-day miracles for summer and need examples from those of you who have experienced or witnessed them. The pastors would love your submissions, even though they can t guarantee that each will be used as illustrations in the sermons. All the miracles shared will go into the research for the sermon writing and planning. Please write about the miracle experience and either the story to Debbie Hunt at dhunt@eumcrb.org, or drop it by the church office to her attention by April 1. Please include your contact information in case someone needs to contact you. Chair Yoga If you missed signing up for Chair Yoga at the Education/Volunteer Fair last Sunday, it is not too late! New books are added each week to the bookcase in the Narthex. Stop by and sign one out today. UMW Reading Program Happy 2019!! With the beginning of the new year, it is time to start thinking about the 2019 UMW s Reading Program. I have listened to three books so far. All of them are excellent and I highly recommend them. They are all available through the Delaware Library system. Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Nurturing Community, is a powerful book. It is a letter to a friend giving her suggestions on raising a strong, independent woman. There is a copy on the UMW bookshelf for your use. The Feathered Bone: A Novel, by Julie Cantrell, Social Action, is a well written novel. It deals with many difficult and timely issues such as child abduction, domestic abuse, suicide and faith in the midst of adversity. The setting is New Orleans during the hurricane Katrina time period. Do All Lives Matter? The Issues We Can No Longer Ignore and the Solutions We All Long For, by Wayne Gordon and John M. Perkins, Social Action, challenges each of us to examine our reaction to the Black Lives Matter movement. The 2019 catalog has been downloaded and put on the bookshelf and available online. Questions, call Wendy Herman at WINGS Open to all women who consider service to be one of their spiritual gifts. Help us help others. Contact: Janet Taylor-Smith jtaylorsmith711@gmail.com. Good Samaritan Program The Good Samaritan Program needs you! Volunteer for as little as 3 hours per month to help those in need. If you d like to assist people in the local community with emergency food, transportation, clothing and other assistance, please contact Walt Smith at or wtsmith623@gmail.com. Thanks!
