The journey prepares us for Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the Last Supper on Holy Thursday and the sorrow of Good Friday. All of this culminates in our celebration of Easter on Sunday, April 1. Living Faith requires of us acknowledgement of our sin, exploration of faith through the Bible, prayer and discernment of God s will and today action! Ministry! FYI: Should you have a Pastoral Care Emergency on the weekend, our Care Line Phone Number is Good Friday (3/30) Prayer & Labyrinth Walk You are invited to join other members and friends of Epworth for a Prayer and Labyrinth Walk at the church any time between the hours of 12 noon and 3:00pm on Good Friday. We will be asking for God to bless our church and its many ministries by praying at designated stations in the Epworth Church building and at the Loughlin Labyrinth outside the Bayside Entrance. When you come, you will be quietly instructed on the path to follow to participate in this meaningful prayer time. Those who cannot come to the church on Good Friday are encouraged to participate by praying for God s blessings at home or using the Loughlin Labyrinth anytime for silent prayer. Like to Pray? Epworth s Pastoral Care Team needs Volunteers! Life is good here at Epworth Church! But what if you are sick, in the hospital, homebound, receiving hospice care; what happens to your spiritual life then? Who will pray with you and your loved ones, how will you receive communion? Your church family feels a commitment to each individual s spiritual and emotional well-being. Our Pastoral Care volunteers play an essential role in enriching the spiritual lives of members of our congregation when they are sick, homebound or unable to attend church, and in need of spiritual prayers and healing. You could make a difference in someone's day by providing prayerful companionship. Volunteers in this area have a strong interest in prayer, are very caring with heartfelt sincerity, have patience and are able to offer a respectful, sympathetic and comforting attitude with members of our church and their family members who are in need of prayerful companionship! 4 Epworth Sponsors Easter Egg Hunt Epworth s Family Ministry is sponsoring a Community Easter Egg Hunt here on Saturday, March 24 from 1:00 2:30 pm. The kitchen@epworth is serving hot dogs, chips and drinks during the activities. We need help from our congregation to set up and take down, face painting, helping with games and crafts. We are going to stuff eggs tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. Bring your candy, and we ll fellowship stuffing eggs. There is a signup sheet at the WINGS table in the Narthex or contact Mickie at or mmcmanamon@eumcrb.org. Student March for Our Lives The Social Justice Committee and Revolution Youth Group at Epworth have secured a bus for the Student March for Our Lives on Saturday, March 24 in Washington, D.C. The students and families of March for Our Lives will take to the streets of Washington, D.C. to demand that their lives and safety become a priority, and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools today. They need and deserve our support for something we can all believe in. The bus will leave from the church at 7:00 a.m. and return about 8:00 p.m. The cost is $29 per person for the trip. We will be in Fellowship Hall today to reserve your spot on the bus. Payment will also be accepted, but it is not necessary today. Checks should be made out to Epworth with Student March written in the memo line. Please stop by to chat or ask further questions. We hope to fill this bus with our Epworth kids and members! Demonstrating Gratitude for the Earth Art Show All Epworth members are encouraged to submit a work of art, in any media, that demonstrates thankfulness for the Earth. These may be pieces you own or create, such as paintings, photographs, ceramics, sculpture, etc. They must be received by Friday, April 27, for exhibition at the church the weekend of April 28 and 29. On Thursday, March 22nd, Dining Out for Miriam s Table will be at Dewey Beer Co., Dewey Beach, DE, , from 4:00 pm through 9:00 pm. Dewey Beer Co. is generously donating 15% of proceeds to feed the children of Congo. They offer craft beers and a daily menu of American bites in a cozy, rustic interior. Because of your ongoing support, Miriam s Table is feeding over 300 children a day! Please come join us for a really great meal. Many talk about their Sussex County fried oysters! Thank you so much for your support Habitat for Humanity Project Work Has Started Volunteers Needed The Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches (LRAC), of which Epworth is a member, is partnering with Sussex County Habitat for Humanity to build a home in West Rehoboth for a deserving family. Groundbreaking was held on February 28, and volunteers began working on the project on March 1 and will continue working on Thursdays and Saturdays for the duration of the _ project, which is expected to take about four months. It would be great if Epworth could send more volunteers to help build this home. All volunteers will first need to register directly with Habitat for Humanity on its website at to facilitate scheduling of volunteers for specific tasks. Andy D Aloisio is serving as Epworth s point of contact and liaison with Habitat for the project. If you have questions about the project, please contact Andy at apdaloisio@gmail.com or Smith Island Trip Sterling Green and Coles Marsh (members of Epworth who grew up in the area of Smith Island) would like to escort you on a trip to Smith Island. The date is Saturday, September 29, and it includes the bus, a boat ride, a seafood meal with Smith Island cake, and a tour of Crisfield docks and the Village of Ewell with historical commentary. The cost is $75 per person, including $11 per person as a fund raiser for Epworth. A $25 non-refundable deposit will hold your spot. The balance is due by September 22. Good Samaritan Program The Good Samaritan Program, aka Good Sam, needs more volunteers. WINGS (Women IN God s Service) WINGS is a women s service group that began in the Fall of Since then, we have collected for Hurricane Harvey, distributed posters for Turkeyville, wrapped Christmas items for local shelters, volunteered for Food Rescue & Triage, and stuffed eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt.
