2 MOST HOLY TRINITY The Pastor s Corner The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is highlighted during the month of June. When we follow this devotion, one aspect we look at is going to Communion. It is a way of honoring Our Lord and being close to him through the Eucharist. St. Peter Julian Eymard said: Let us learn to honor the Sacred Heart in the Eucharist. Let us never separate them. Another way to get closer to Jesus is to spend time in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. In the image of the Sacred Heart, we see the illumination of his divine light behind a heart crowned with thorns and surmounted with a cross. If we took this image and meditated on it in adoration, we would see a symbol of Christ s sacrifice and unconditional love. The thorns and cross remind us of the suffering and sacrifice he gave to bring us in union with the Father. In the East Side Region there is exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Wednesday from 9:30 AM-8:00 PM at St. Cecilia Church. You can stop in at any time throughout the day and spend time with Our Lord. This is a time of silence to focus on prayer and meditation of the Blessed Sacrament. It is your time with God. In our busy world this is a great getaway to read scripture, pray, and just be with Jesus in adoration. We conclude adoration with a holy hour from 7:00-8:00 PM, with confessions heard during that hour. Try and schedule some time on Wednesdays to come in and pray. The month of June is a perfect time to connect ourselves with his most Sacred Heart. Amen? Amen! THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS Event Sponsors Brian & Monica Hurley Business Intelligence, Inc. 4 MOST HOLY TRINITY Do we believe in one God or in three Gods? We believe in one God in three persons (Trinity). God is not solitude but perfect communion. (Pope Benedict XVI, May 22, 2005). Christians do not worship three different Gods, but one single Being that is threefold and yet remains one. We know that God is triune from Jesus Christ: He, the Son, speaks about his Father in heaven ( I and the Father are one, John 10:30). He prays to him and sends us the Holy Spirit, who is the love of the Father and the Son. That is why we are baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). Quote for the Week ~ YOUCAT question 35 Meet the saints St. Anthony of Padua ( ) - Feast Day June 13 The gospel call to leave everything and follow Christ was the rule of Anthony s life. Over and over again, God called him to something new in his plan. Every time Anthony responded with renewed zeal and self-sacrifice to serve his Lord Jesus more completely. His journey began as a very young man when he decided to join the Augustinians in Lisbon, giving up a future of wealth and power to be a servant of God. Later when the bodies of the first Franciscan martyrs went through the Portuguese city where he was stationed, he was filled with an intense longing to be one of those who die for the Good News. So Anthony entered the Franciscan Order and set out to preach to the Moors, but an illness prevented him from achieving that goal. He went to Italy and was stationed in a small hermitage where he spent most of his time praying, reading the Scriptures, and doing menial tasks. Recognized as a great man of prayer and a great scholar, Anthony became the first friar to teach theology to the other friars. Soon he was called to preach to the Albigensians in France, using his profound knowledge of Scripture and theology to convert and reassure those who had been misled by their denial of Christ s divinity and of the sacraments. After he led the friars in northern Italy for three years, he made his headquarters in the city of Padua. He resumed his preaching and began writing sermon notes to help other preachers. In the spring of 1231 Anthony withdrew to a friary at Camposampiero where he had a sort of treehouse built as a hermitage. There he prayed and prepared for death. On June 13, he became very ill and asked to be taken back to Padua, where he died after receiving the last sacraments. Anthony was canonized less than a year later and named a Doctor of the Church in People do not criticize Christ. They criticize Christians because they do not resemble him. ~ François mauriac

Find more resources at + A GOSPEL REFLECTION + JOHN 3: by Father Jason Williams God sent his Son that the world might be saved through him. Today s passage from the third chapter of St. John s Gospel is very familiar to us. It begins with what is likely the most quoted verse of the entire Bible: the promise of eternal life for those who believe in the Son of God. This is truly worthy of much reflection for the human soul cannot help but be moved by its encounter with the love and mercy of our God. Just as this verse sheds light on the reality of who God is, another aspect of this passage is significant as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity, as the Catechism reminds us, is the central mystery of the Christian faith; all things have their source and their goal in the divine life of God. He creates out of his perfect goodness and love, and he is glorified by the praise of all things, human beings and every other creature, as they reach their fulfillment according to the wondrous design of God s plan for them. What stands out from this passage in regard to this mystery are the words gave and sent. The Father sends his only Son, giving to the world his greatest treasure, because he knows that through the life of the Son, we will be given the opportunity to live again in perfect union with God. The sending of the Son is a selfless gift of love, and this selflessness of love is the primary characteristic of God. Shouldn t selfless love also be the resplendent quality apparent in every Christian, indeed, in every person, since we have been created in God s image and likeness?

7 SAINT MARGARET - SAINT JOHN PARISH + HAPPENINGS + Thank you to Andrea and Erni Corvi who chaired the Right to Life display along with Brian and Monica Hurley who sponsored it. The display will be on our campus through June 15th. These crosses serve as a reminder of babies killed by abortion along with those women and men who suffer the pain caused by abortion. Thanks also to all the volunteers who came to help with this display. Let us all pray for all those in difficult situations of life, for an end to abortion, and for respect for every human life from conception until natural death. We also prayed for the unborn and their parents and for an end to abortion, at a prayer service last Sunday after the 11AM Mass. Thanks to Tony Losekamp and John Grusenmeyer for organizing the prayer service (and for all the work they ve been doing on our grounds!) Wait! Don t throw it out! Did you know that toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes & caps, floss containers, and beauty products of all kinds can be made into new products. Spare the landfill and recycle. There is a small bin in the vestibule for these items. Recycling these small items makes a big impact on the environment. Thanks for your stewardship of God s creation. Remember to like us on Facebook and share our posts! Pope St. John Paul II s Prayer for Life O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy. Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time. Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.
