Vigil last evening. It is so exciting for our parish to celebrate Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist with them, as it renews our own baptismal commitment.

3 Happy Easter! To our guests, to those whom we have not seen in a long time, to you and your extended family. Please feel welcomed and at home. We are glad to be worshipping our God together today. We are excited to have fully initiated Trey Michael Lacinak, Mal iek Adrain Lail, Anaia Promise Henderson, Kylee Lynn Tucker, Aris Schowalter, Abigail Nicole Lee & Katelyn Marie Lee at the Easter Vigil last evening. It is so exciting for our parish to celebrate Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist with them, as it renews our own baptismal commitment. Our prayer support, good example and witness have fostered their faith on their journey to the Easter Sacraments. This is a new beginning, not an end. So does our prayer support, good example and witness need to continue to nurture these neophytes, these newbies! Last year I remember seeing a sign at a church as I was driving: Easter was great! Let s repeat it this coming Sunday! We can say we celebrate Easter every Mass, every day! Something we do every day can lose its specialness. The Church gives us 50 days to celebrate the New Life we have in Christ, the Risen Lord. All denominations probably have similar experiences of high attendance on Easter Sunday. Jubilee Year of Mercy: March s theme is Sharing at the Table of Mercy. As we journey through the Easter Season we become witnesses to the New Life we embody as the Body of Christ. As we respond to the Word of God, in acts of kindness and mercy, let us conform ourselves to Christ. How do we as a parish prepare ourselves for the implementation of our Pastoral Region? Acknowledging that we all plan to sit at the same Banquet Table together in Heaven, Christ prays that We may all be one. How can we share at the Table of Mercy now or in the near future? Pastoral Council Nominations: Four new people are needed. A form for nomination for yourself or someone else can be found at the church exits. Please place it in the collection basket soon. Happy Easter Season! Looking forward to moving through the 50 days rejoicing in the Lord Always! This is the Day the Lord has Made, Let us be Glad and Rejoice! Can you help??? We are planning our Summer Celebration (June 25) and could use your help. We are asking individuals or groups to donate a basket with a specific theme to be raffled off at the event. Some ideas could be Reds items, movie night basket, family night basket, wine or cheese basket, grillers, etc. Thanks! Available in the back of church... With this being the Year of Mercy... Fr. 4 Paula s Corner... Christ is risen! Alleluia! Alleluia! This Tuesday, at 7 pm, we are gathering, as we did throughout all of Lent, to pray together and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with the Stations of Resurrection. This is a unique set of stations that follows Jesus Christ from the Resurrection through to Pentecost. Come celebrate this wonderful and spiritually rewarding time with us. There is a bit of angst for everyone in the parish as we await the announcement of the regional pastor. Rest assured that the three parishes are working diligently to make the transition, whatever that may be, as positive as possible. As we enter into this Easter season with renewed hope and opportunities, perhaps we can all gather at the Stations of Resurrection to pray for our region and the many opportunities to collaborate and grow as individual parishes. Happy Easter! New Directory!!!! As we move into the parish region, we find that it is important that we have a new directory for whoever is the new pastor. We have a wonderful opportunity to get lots of perks if we all get our pictures taken. We have been offered an amazing option for evangelization. In addition to getting our own pictures taken, we can offer family and friends the opportunity to have their pictures taken. They will receive a free 8 x 10, but they will not be in the book. However, we will have all their pertinent information so that we can stay in touch and invite them to Parish events. Sign-ups for pictures will begin April 10 and pictures will be taken May 2-7. Let s get pictures from everyone and all our family and friends, so the next pastor can get to know all of us, and we can grow our parish. In February, the Pastoral Region Coordinating Committee submitted a strategic plan for our pastoral region to the archdiocese. That plan was accepted by the archbishop. Our plan is based on a pastoral region that is a collaboration not a merger between, St. Cecilia, and St. Margaret-St. John parishes, all of whom will share one pastor. It is expected that the pastor for our region will be announced after Easter, and he will begin on July 1. To facilitate this adjustment, a transition team has been formed with active parishioners from each parish. Please keep our parishes and priests in your prayers.

(1) Second Reading All who are baptized, set your hearts in heaven (Colossians 3:1-4) or (2) Second Reading Christ our Passover is sacrificed; therefore let us celebrate (1 Corinthians 5:6b-8). Gospel Three witnesses, Mary, Peter, and John; each responds to the empty tomb (John 20:1-9) or Luke 24:1-12 (or, at an afternoon or evening Mass, Luke 24:13-35). Second Reading John, caught up in the spirit, envisions the glorified Lord, the first and the last, the one who lives (Revelation 1:9-11a, 12-13, 17-19). Gospel The risen Christ comes to his disciples with peace and the Spirit. The absent Thomas doubts (John 20:19-31). TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Fifty years or so ago, it was popular to teach that every Sunday is a Little Easter. Today, after several decades of intense liturgical reform, it is more proper to think of today as a Big Sunday. On every Sunday of the year, the Church is obliged to assemble, keeping the day holy. In most places, we hardly attain the goal of gathering all who are in Christ by baptism. Look around today and see what a Big Sunday looks like! Our tradition speaks of remembering, anamnesis, as the antidote to amnesia, the tragic forgetting of who God is and who we are as God s most beloved creation. On this Easter day, we are at our very best. We remember who God is, and we remember who we are in God s eyes: beloved sons and daughters, reborn to eternal life in baptismal waters. We rekindle our candles and reclaim our baptismal promises. As a Big Sunday, today also reflects the character of festivity and leisure that should mark every Lord s Day. We wear Sunday best today, and we may take some time, especially in the northern states, to stroll through a budding garden. It is truly a Big Sunday, and how different our lives would be if we took its values and traditions forward into all the Sundays of our lives.

Golf Outing Postponed: Over the past several months a small group of parishioners from our regional parishes has been meeting to discuss the possibility of a regional golf outing. As you may have heard in January, we even had a date scheduled. As the group continued to meet, it became more and more clear that this endeavor would be highly labor intensive and that we needed to be able to secure enough sponsorship dollars to make it financially successful. Both the recruitment of volunteers and the solicitation of sponsors are simply going to require more time than was available to be able to host this event in June, especially since both St. Cecilia and SMSJ have major fundraising events over the summer for which sponsors are being solicited. With the pastoral region implementation beginning in July, it was decided that perhaps the wisest course would be to wait until after the pastor change to restart the planning process. We hope that when we restart our work, we will create an event that will both build community and be a financial success for our pastoral region.
