3 You remain in my prayers throughout this transition, which we have prepared for and prayed about, over the last year and a half. Let us place our trust in the Holy Spirit to guide us through this experience of leave-taking and welcoming-the-new. With heartfelt appreciation for 12 good years of being your pastor, I say thank you for all your support, encouragement, participation, caring and compassion, hospitality, sharing in ministry and leadership. My Mom Margie and I will miss you so much, and will always have a place in our hearts for you as we leave this parish. I will preside for the last time as pastor on Monday 7:00 p.m. Mass June 20 th. Tuesday June 21 st I will preside at the 9:30 a.m. Mass at the Barrington and later that evening will be my last Pastoral Council meeting. My last official activity will be the upcoming Summer Celebration. Our Summer Celebration will be June 25 th. A great turn-out is what we hope for, which depends on you bringing your family, friends, neighbors and former parishioners and classmates. Please get your raffle tickets and sponsorships turned in as soon as possible. Also, make it known if you are willing to volunteer if you have not already. I was told that attendance was really low last weekend. It was not the best representation of our parish for Fr. Jim Huvane from the Maryknoll Mission Society of Priests and Brothers. If you have it in your heart to still make a contribution, please make your check out to our parish and put MCP in the memo section. Fulfilling the promise and the commitment to be as transparent as possible, please know that the investigation by the Archdiocese Finance Office is complete. Our review has been turned over to the police investigation department, who will hand this matter over to the prosecutor, who will likely take this to the Grand Jury. We have submitted the same report to our insurance company. Also, be assured that measures recommended by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati have been implemented in our office to insure that a situation such as this will not happen again. Our hope is to instill confidence to our parishioners that we will make it a top priority to be good stewards of our parish resources. Needed: Plas c Grocery/Store Bags! You know all those plastic bags that you accumulate and don t quite know what to do with except over whelm our landfill? Well, we have a ministry of crocheting sleeping mats for homeless folks here in Cincinnati. The mats provide a slight cushion to the hard ground as well as providing protection against dampness and dirt. But a 36 x 80 mat with a carrying strap takes about 700 bags to finish. Everyone can participate in this endeavor by bringing in your used bags: all sizes accepted. If you would like to learn how to make a mat, please contact Paula Voborsky, OFS. The Banner and new Parish Logo A description of our new banner and Parish logo: The banner states that this Parish represents a Compassionate, Caring Community. Symbolic lilies is presented on the left above St. Margaret. Then on the right a symbolic scroll for St. John Vianney. The symbolic cross in the middle is over the sunrise sunset of both properties. The colors are those selected when the Parish merged with the teal accent colors of both parishes. The lily border holds us all together.

4 From Paula s desk... Today, Jesus poses the question Who do you say I am? Perhaps we should take a moment to reflect on this question, not only as it pertains to Jesus, but how it pertains to each of us as individuals and as the parish Community of St. Margaret-St. John. Our new logo defines us as a caring, compassionate community. Each of us will have ample opportunity to test this in coming weeks and months as we become acquainted with all of our new clergy, move to become financially stable, meet the challenges and avail ourselves of the opportunities that are afforded by being in a pastoral region. Let us all remember, nobody or nothing can change our identity except ourselves and our responses to whatever comes our way. Let us focus on making us our best selves and making the community of St. Margaret -St. John an even more welcoming, caring compassionate parish. Mass Schedule change Please put on your calendar that our weekly Tuesday Mass at The Barrington will be at 10:30 am rather than 9:30 am starting on July 5. This is due to the priest schedule with Fr. Jamie taking over as pastor of our parish and St. Anthony. Thank you for your understanding. At this time the Sunday Mass schedule will remain the same with Fr. Jamie, Fr. Dave Sunberg and Fr. Jason Williams rotating through the three parishes. Lifetouch Pictures We have had several parishioners mention that they have not received their pictures yet. After contacting Lifetouch we were told that the pictures were sent to a wrong address. They have been reprinted and will be sent to the parish office as soon as possible. We will contact you as soon as we receive them. Sorry for the delay. Bingo help? The parish provides a concession stand at our weekly Thursday night Bingo. We have four volunteers at this time but are looking for help if someone needs to be off or becomes ill. We can use help anytime from 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm. FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CHRIST The great fifty-day celebration of Easter has concluded, as have the feasts honoring the Holy Trinity and the Body and Blood of Christ. Last week we began a long stretch of Ordinary Time that will bring us to late November. Saint Paul tells us today that those who are baptized have clothed yourselves with Christ (Galatians 3:27). This scripture is echoed in the Church s baptism ritual when we sing, You have put on Christ, in him you have been baptized. This message is inspiring and sobering at the same time, for in today s Gospel, we get to the heart of what it means to be clothed in Christ. The Lord tells us, If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me (Luke 9:23). For the next twenty-two weeks we are called to take up the cross and, with Saint Luke as our guide, follow in the footsteps of Christ.
