(Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-8). Psalm The one who does justice will live in the presence of the Lord (Psalm 15). Second Reading Religion that is pure is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction (James 1:17-18, 21b-22, 27). But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves. (James 1:21-22) Which words of Jesus provide the most inspiration for the Christian work that you do? For next weekend September 9 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Rich in Faith Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters. Has not God chosen the poor in the world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him? (James 2:5) When has your faith in Jesus enabled you to speak out on an issue of importance? Parish Office Closed The Parish Office will be closed on this Sunday, September 2 and Monday, September 3 for the Labor Day holiday and reopen on Tuesday, September 4. On Monday, September 3, a communion service will be held in the parish center chapel at 9:00 a.m. New Security System is Coming Soon Since I started at St. Tim s, there s been a growing concern regarding building security due to a number of incidents. Consequently, when a generous donation come in this past year, it was easy to determine that the funds should be used to help increase the safety of our staff and parishioners. The week of September 10 a security system will be installed. Both the main parish office door as well as the main kitchen door will be equipped with a key card reader. On the outside of main parish office door, just above the current handicapped door button, there will be a doorbell and camera installed. Unless there are events taking place, the main outside parish office door will be locked during office hours. You will just need to press the doorbell to be greeted by our receptionist and let into the building. Finally, all of the exterior locks both for the parish office and the church will be changed. If you are a leader of one of our church organizations and have been issued a key to the facility, please plan on stopping by the parish office on or after September 14 to check out a new key. Thank you to each of you for your understanding and patience as we all adjust to a new system. If you have any questions or concerns, please don t hesitate to contact me. Cathy Sullivan, Director of Administration and Finance In Memoriam Let us keep members of our parish in our thoughts and prayers especially Gary Baggenstoss who has recently died. Let the grace of our prayers enfold the family and friends of this parishioner as they mourn the loss of their loved one. This might be for you if you wish to become more familiar with the Epistles in the New Testament. St. Tim s Fall/Winter Adult Bible Study Group will soon be exploring the writings of Saint James, the Bishop of Jerusalem in the New Testament Letter of St James.
