1 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ June 3, 2018 PRECIOUS BLOOD On this solemnity we focus our attention on the Body and Blood of Christ. We listen to the story of the renewal of the old covenant, which Moses sealed by splashing the blood of animals on the altar of sacrifice, as well as on the people. Jesus, whose blood is the blood of the new covenant, shed that precious blood on the cross, saving us from sin and promising us everlasting life. Blood is the life source that courses through our bodies. The precious blood of Christ is the life source for our spirits. Today may we, like the psalmist, offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Lord, whose Body and Blood strengthen us to bring the Good News to everyone we meet. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

How do I prepare myself for Mass? How do I show my appreciation and gratitude for the Eucharist (a word which means thanks giving )? For next weekend June 10-10th Sunday in Ordinary Time: When Jesus was told his mother and brothers were outside asking for him, he responded that whoever does the will of God is his brother, sister, mother. What are the implications of being in God s family, and what does it mean to me to be a disciple of Jesus? Baptizing Your Child at St. Timothy Requirements for having your child baptized at St. Timothy are: registration at St. Tim s (or another parish) and attendance at a pre-baptism class unless it has been less than two years since you have attended our class previously. Parents are encouraged to take the class before their child is born. This class is normally offered once per month. The next class will be held Tuesday, June 12, 7:00 8:30 p.m. in the church. It is necessary to preregister by calling the Parish Office. You may not schedule a baptism until you have attended class. For more information or to register for the class, call the Parish Office at Godparents are also welcome to attend. Bringing Up the Gifts We encourage people to participate in our weekend liturgies by carrying our offerings of money, bread, and wine to the altar. We especially encourage young families to do this as a way of engaging our young people. Please sign up in the binder on the credenza in back of church for any open weekend Mass you will be attending. When you come to church, check your name off so the usher knows you are present and go to the back of church when the collection is being taken. The usher will instruct you if needed. In Memoriam Let us keep members of our parish in our thoughts and prayers especially: Steven Hamilton Tom Herker, brother of Eve Frank Darlene Catchings, sister of Eve Frank who have recently died. Let the grace of our prayers enfold the families and friends of these parishioners as they mourn the loss of their loved ones. Register by calling the Retreat Center office at or online at New Parishioner Registration If you are interested in becoming a registered member of St. Timothy's Parish you can easily do so after any of the Masses next weekend. Simply go to the West Room in the back of the church right after Mass. Another option for registering as a new parishioner is to stop by the parish office during weekday business hours. Either way, we are happy to have you! Communion at Mass If you, for physical reasons, are unable to come forward for communion at Mass, and would like an usher to lead our Eucharistic Ministers to you to bring you the Eucharist, please notify the ushers before Mass (or have someone notify them for you). They would be happy to help! On a related note, if you are able to come forward for communion, we ask that you please do so, in order that our Eucharistic Ministers have more time to tend to those who are physically unable to come. An Invitation to Prayer Weekday Mass (or a Service of the Word & Communion) is celebrated in our Parish Center Chapel at 9:00 a.m., Monday Friday. The Rosary is recited at 8:30 a.m. Also, the Chapel is available for quiet prayer during Parish office hours. All are invited to come pray before the Blessed Sacrament (in the tabernacle), offering their personal intentions, as well as the intentions of our nation and world. With so many important issues and events taking place throughout the world, this is an excellent way to spend time in prayer. Traveling over the summer? Never has the use of violence brought peace in its wake. War begets war, violence begets violence. Pope Francis I BeFriender Hospital Visits St. Tim s BeFrienders visit Unity Hospital on Mondays to pray and bring communion to parishioners and other Catholic patients. Due to patient privacy laws, names are not made available to the BeFrienders unless you specify at the time of admission that you are Catholic and a member of St. Timothy s parish. Please contact Maggie Philbrook at if you have a loved one in the hospital or anticipate hospitalization and our hospital BeFrienders will be notified. Blaine Farmer s Market The Farmer s Market is held in St. Timothy Church parking lot, th Avenue, Blaine, on Saturday morning from 7:00 a.m. - noon. Perennials, eggs, jams and jelly, dog treats and sweet breads are available. Everything is locally made or grown. Family Promise in Anoka County Helping families experiencing homeless Our next week for hosting families is July 8-15 and Sign Up Weekend is this week end, after all the Masses, in the back of church. National Catholic Youth Choir Workshop Calling all singers ages 12-18! Free one-day choir workshop at The Cathedral of Saint Paul, Friday, June 22nd from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Train and perform with National Catholic Youth Choir and conductors André Heywood and Dr. Sean Vogt. STARS Meeting The STARS (St. Tim's Active Retired Seniors) next meeting will be Thursday, June 14. We will begin with Mass at 9 a.m. in the church followed by the rosary in the chapel then follow with the business meeting in Room 224 of the Parish Center.
