Psalm Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth (Psalm 104). Second Reading There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:3b-7, 12-13) Gospel As the Father has sent me, so I send you. Parents are encouraged to take the class before their child is born. This class is normally offered once per month. The next class will be held Tuesday, June 12, 7:00 8:30 p.m. in the church. It is necessary to preregister by calling the Parish Office. You may not schedule a baptism until you have attended class. For more information or to register for the class, call the Parish Office at Godparents are also welcome to attend. An Invitation to Prayer Weekday Mass (or a Service of the Word & Communion) is celebrated in our Parish Center Chapel at 9:00 a.m., Monday Friday. The Rosary is recited at 8:30 a.m. Also, the Chapel is available for quiet prayer during Parish office hours. All are invited to come pray before the Blessed Sacrament (in the tabernacle), offering their personal intentions, as well as the intentions of our nation and world. With so many important issues and events taking place throughout the world, this is an excellent way to spend time in prayer. Communion at Mass If you, for physical reasons, are unable to come forward for communion at Mass, and would like an usher to lead our Eucharistic Ministers to you to bring you the Eucharist, please notify the ushers before Mass (or have someone notify them for you). They would be happy to help! On a related note, if you are able to come forward for communion, we ask that you please do so, in order that our Eucharistic Ministers have more time to tend to those who are physically unable to come. Question of the Week For this weekend May 20 - Pentecost Sunday: Jesus appeared to the disciples greeting them with Peace be with you, and leaving them with the gift of the Holy Spirit. What do I think Jesus intends whenever he says Peace be with you? or How is the Holy Spirit manifested in my life? For next weekend May 27 - The Most Holy Trinity: Jesus gathered the disciples and sent them out to make disciples of all nations, assuring them of his presence always. How does the Holy Trinity help me in this mission of drawing others into the family of God? 3 Page 3 Pentecost Sunday May 20, 2018 FAITH FORMATION & ENRICHMENT St. Timothy s Vacation Bible School presents: We re Off to Follow Jesus July 30-August 3 9:00-Noon Preschool-6th grade (September 2018) Come join us for a week of stories, crafts, games, music, and fun! Many volunteers are needed for this wonderful week. Participants and volunteers: registration forms are available in the Church or the Parish Office. Deadline for registration is June 3. Another One Bites the Dust OR Guess Who s Retiring! If your second guess was Johanna, you are correct! After 21 years of employment, it is time for that extended vacation known as retirement. Since being hired as the Grades 1-5 and 1st Reconciliation/Communion coordinator in 1997, I have had job responsibility changes that involved me at one time or another in youth ministry, mission trips, Night of WOH, confirmation retreats, the drumming meditation circle, adult enrichment, RCIA, parish missions, new parishioner registration, and S.T.A.R.S. (Luckily, I was never tapped to do anything in finance, for which I possess an extreme lack of interest and comprehension). Due to my varied and expanded job responsibilities over all these years, I have had the opportunity to get to know many more of you than I would have otherwise. One of my favorite things about working at St. Tim s is you parishioners! I have been blessed to work with competent and dedicated volunteers in various areas of ministry throughout my tenure here. I thank you for making my job seem less like a job and more like I was spending time hanging out with my friends in order to work for a worthy cause together. Likewise, it has been enriching to have spur-of-the moment encounters with parishioners at-large through phone inquiries, when you happen to stop by the parish office for something, or when I see you at Mass. Through these random encounters, I have experienced and appreciated your friendliness, your affirmations, your spontaneity in responding to my sense of humor, your expressions of faith and care for others, and your commitment to our parish community all of which I value and find inspiring! St. Tim s Youth Ministry Thanks to all who joined us for the free concert at US Bank Stadium on Friday! Stay tuned for Summer Youth Ministry Events! Facebook: Fusion STYM Instagram: sttimsyouth.blaine Faith Formation Program Next Faith Formation year middle school will be implementing a new program called Edge. It will no longer be classroom style but rather have large group activities, a speaker, and small group discussions. We will still need many volunteers to assist with these Wednesday evenings! No lesson plans or long class times, just having fun with teens and leading small group discussions. Adults and high school students are encouraged to join our team. Background assistants are needed as well. Please contact Kristen Neuman or the Office if you are interested in volunteering in this way! Parish Mission CD s If you missed one of the nights of our parish mission with Sr. Michelle L Allier back in February or if you would like to review what she shared several sets of audio cds will be available at the parish office for lending. Call to make sure they are in, or stop by to borrow a set. Farewell Reception There will be an opportunity to say Good bye (or maybe just See you later ) to Johanna and wish her well on Sunday, June 3, after the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Masses in Room 224 of the Parish Center. From working with New Parishioner Registration, I have learned that many of our new parishioners choose St. Tim s because they feel at home here. I have tried to contribute to that atmosphere and been inspired by the many ways all of you show hospitality and welcome others. Although I am retiring, there will still be opportunities to connect. My husband and I will continue attending the 5:00 p.m. Mass because this is our home parish -- and the best one in the area (don t tell the other parishes!)
