1 ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH NON-PROFIT ORG. 314 FOURTH AVE NE US POSTAGE WASECA, MN PERMIT NO (Address Service Requested) Jesus Loves ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// 8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men! 2 Offer to God thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High Psalm 50:14 In these latter days of November, we remember that term thanksgiving, and I think we might, at times, think just to some of the festivities, and family traditions that we have enjoyed during the national holiday that our country celebrates each year, rather than remembering WITH JOY, the many wonderful times, and ways, that the Lord has been with us, and blessed us, over the past year. He s not after just some stuff to be given unto Him. Please read Psalm 50. (..Don t think you re going to later, please get out your Bible and do it now ). See, how just before verse 14, He says how He s not really interested in all that stuff of the offerings and sacrifices (vs. 8-9). He owns everything anyway (vs ). What does He really want? He wants YOU! He wants that experience with you! Where you come, and meet Him at His house! Where He can share in the joy, and the experience of being with His beloved child! Mrs. Marian Rosenau gave me an excellent article by Mary Hunt, entitled Lessons from a 2-year-old. And she makes some great observations, that she learned from caring for her two year old grandson. They had a great time, being together, and discovering some of the interesting, amazing everyday things, together. She said she learned I don t have to own things to enjoy them. And often there s greater value in doing things together than in owning things. Won t you come, and walk awhile hand-in-hand with Your Lord, this next week. I look forward to the time that I will have, when my own kids come home, so that we can spend some time together. And I m sure our Heavenly Father, is looking forward to the same thing, with you. Come meet Him here, at your spiritual home, this Thanksgiving. And remember the many ways that He has been with You. The next verse says, Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. He has been with us, and helped us, so often, in the past. That s one of the good things about prayer journaling, because we get a chance to look back at the many ways, that the Lord HAS answered our prayers, and gotten us out of trouble! We don t want to forget God (vs. 22), as He warns against, in verses 16 through 22. We want to remember His deliverance - in the ways He has gotten us through, and especially with the sending of His Son, Jesus, for our ultimate and final deliverance. He says at the end of Psalm 50, Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; (vs. 23). Won t you, and yours, come and personally offer that praise, and thanks, with your own mouth, this Thanksgiving, and as we continue into December, when we remember His coming down for us, in the flesh. It is through the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus, that we can look forward to the joys of heaven, and getting to walk hand-in-hand with our loving heavenly Father, enjoying many of the wonders He seeks to show, and share with us there! Until that time, when we are called home, won t you come and spend some time, walking here, with your Heavenly Father. You both with be glad you did! Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; and His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations Psalm 100:4-5. In Christ s name, and for the building of His kingdom,

3 December Bible Readings As we begin another Christian Church Year, and as we approach the end of another calendar year, we come to the conclusion of our yearly Bible reading schedule and conclude with the reading of the book of Revelation. There we see portrayed the birth of Christ and His conflict with Satan. (Revelation 12) We also read of Christ's Incarnation in John 1. Paul also writes about the "great...mystery" of the incarnation of Jesus Christ (I Timothy 3:16) and that in the Christ Child "dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily." (Colossians 2:9) Again we see how the truths of Christmas fill the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation. The Old Testament prophesied about the Messiah Who would come. The New Testament records the fact that the Messiah came "in the fullness of time" to save us from our sins that we might be God's adopted sons and daughters in faith. (Galatians 4:4-5) May the righteousness of the Holy Christ Child fill your Christmas and the New Year with endless Joy! DECEMBER: 1. Romans 5,6,7,8 2. Romans 9,10,11,12 3. Romans 13,14,15,16 4. You will be able to see that, included with your third quarter giving statements. There may have been some unexpected events. Due to the generosity of families, and the Cotta Guild, we were able to pack and ship 47 more boxes than last year. Thank you to everyone who donated items, helped pack, and served lunch on packing day. Thank you also to those who gave toward the shipping cost ($9 per box; $1,071 total). What a blessing to see God working mightily through this congregation! The shoeboxes will share Jesus with kids across the world this Christmas. We purchased again this year one shipping label through the Shoebox website for tracking. The Sunday School students will share the destination of that shoebox during Fellowship, sometime in January. Over 638 shoeboxes were collected at St. Paul Lutheran Church, from all around the Waseca area. Thank you to Aimee Paulson and the many volunteers who greeted individuals and other churches who brought their shoeboxes to St. Paul. The shoeboxes were loaded into cartons and onto a trailer that was driven to Mankato. From Mankato, many more cartons will all go to a warehouse in Minneapolis for a final customs check before shipping out from MSP airport. Now, we pray. We pray for the workers delivering the boxes. We pray for the children receiving the boxes. We pray the Holy Spirit uses these boxes in amazing ways to share the salvation found only in Jesus!

9 As the congregational representative for a new Adult/Family Retreat Center at Camp Omega, I wanted to give you an update of where Camp Omega is on their funding. They are at $1,920,722 money raised in cash received and pledges. Their goal is $3.3 million. They have negotiated on 10 acres of property over the last several years. A price has been reached and closing will take place soon. The property is located behind the dining hall and would allow the retreat center to be built level ground. Bob LaCroix and the board (along with other significant people to this effort) have been working with a new architect firm and general contractor to re-address the existing design and location. Once a final design is in place, they hope they can start moving forward to make this a reality. Camp Omega is still in need of a little over one million dollars to accomplish the new Adult/Family Retreat Center. Camp Omega is asking me to encourage those that have made pledges over the last three years, to consider continuing their pledge for another year or two. If you have made accommodations in your budget for your current pledge and can maintain that going forward, that would be fantastic. You could just notify Camp Omega or myself that you are going to continue your pledge over the next year, or maybe two (be sure it s earmarked for the campaign). If you can t or choose not to continue your pledge, they totally understand. Camp Omega is so grateful for ALL the support so generously given. In 2015, the St. Paul Church Council approved the campaign and is in total support of this effort. They set a congregational goal of $30,000 over a three year period. To-date, our congregation has pledged or given $23,318. Our three year pledge is soon approaching and we are at a shortfall of $6,682. By joining us in supporting this opportunity, it will make a difference in people s lives for generations to come, with the life giving spirit of Jesus. We ask you to earmark your envelope for Camp Omega Capital Campaign, attention Kathy Flogstad, and drop it in the offering plate (checks should be made payable to Camp Omega). We pray God will open your hearts and minds as he guides you in your response to this important effort. God s blessings, Kathy Flogstad
