Street Repair Project: The church is accepting donations to cover the cost of the street repair on the north side of the church. As the education programs of the church and state gear up again, note how God's Word speaks about teaching in our Bible Reading Schedule this month (Ezekiel 44:23; Daniel 1:4; Luke 11:1; 12:12). God's Word teaches a Christian life-style different from the sinful lifestyle of the world (Daniel 3 & 6). A Christian life-style is one of hearing God's Word, confessing one's sins to God, and believing that for the sake of Christ we will be forgiven (Daniel 9:1-19; Psalm 111). Brian Young Presentation: The Brian Young presentation at Waseca Central Building on Amazing Animals was wonderful and we had a great turn out. We hope to do this again next year at our church. That s the feeling you share through a Lutheran World Relief (LWR) quilt. The recipients use their LWR quilt to shield against the cold and rain and for warm bedding. Also used as tents, floor covering, or as a wrap to hold a baby on a mother s back. Quilting begins on Tuesday, September 11 th from 1PM 3PM. Bring a needle and a scissors. Cotta Guild: August Meeting Minutes Judie Waters called the meeting to order at 7 PM. Pastor Zimmer led a devotion on strength taken from Isaiah, Philippians, and Corinthians.

Judie Waters thanked those who worked and baked for the recent funerals. Judie Waters read several thank you notes received recently.

5 Cotta Guild: August Meeting Minutes Judie Waters called the meeting to order at 7 PM. Pastor Zimmer led a devotion on strength taken from Isaiah, Philippians, and Corinthians. Cindy Wood, Kathy Lenz, and Lila Schaal put on a skit entitled Storms of Life. The secretary s report was read and accepted. The treasurer s report was read and accepted. Judie Waters thanked those who worked and baked for the recent funerals. Judie Waters read several thank you notes received recently. The memorials received from Delores Lau s funeral will go towards an air conditioner for the kitchen. We sang happy birthday to Esther Dietrich, Geri Roemhildt, and Lois Spies. We were reminded to remember our secret sisters and brothers. The school supplies will be delivered to the neighborhood center by Judie Waters. Judie Waters mentioned the curtains in the Sunday school rooms need to be washed before September 9. Linda Seifert reported on the two recent Brian Young events. She stated the events were well attended and they were enjoyed by all who attended. New Business: o The convention reports will be given at the September meeting. o LWML Sunday is October 7, o It was moved, seconded, and carried to purchase altar flowers for LWML Sunday. The bulletins will be ordered that were designed by LWML Board of Directors. o September 2, 2018: Mark Pehrson/Youth Mission group will be doing a breakfast at the American Legion from 7:30 AM until Noon. o On Saturday, November 3 at 5 PM there will be a polka service with a chicken supper at 6 PM. o Next meeting: September 13, 2018 o Two dozen cookies from each circle were requested for the close of summer vacation bible school on August 17. o Lunch was served by Bev Schroder s circle. o Meeting adjourned. --Submitted by, Lila Schaal, recording secretary Cotta Guild News: Cotta Guild will meet Thursday, September 13, in the parish hall at 6:15, to depart for a sing-along at Colony Court. Ladies, come and join us and sing hymns with the Colony Court residents. When we return to the church, Pastor Zimmer will have a devotion for us. Barb Denn and Cindy Wood plan to give their MN South District LWML Convention report. Judie Waters' circle will serve lunch. Pre-Order Pies: If you are interested in pre-ordering fresh fruit pies (frozen, ready to bake) from Cotta Guild, please sign-up at the bulletin board near the elevator. Pie selections are: Colorado Peach, Michigan Blueberry, and Minnesota Apple. Cost is $9.00 per pie and payment is due on pick-up dates scheduled for Saturday, November 3 rd from 3-5 PM and Sunday, November 4 th from PM.

Sunday School News This Fall, we are studying God s Creation of the World and His People. Ages 3 through Grade 5 start at 10:20am, immediately following Fellowship time in the Parish Hall. We begin in the Sanctuary for opening and music. They conclude downstairs, beneath the Parish Hall, with class time. Classes are grouped according to younger and older students. Students are released to their parents at 11:15am. Students in grades 6-8 are encouraged to attend opening and music to review Bible stories and memory work, then have the choice of attending Adult Bible study or assisting with one of the Sunday School classes. High Schoolers may attend Adult Bible study or assist in the Nursery. Adult Bible study meets in the Parish Hall following Fellowship time. Purchase Items Now for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes Collection boxes are out! Shop the school supply sales, summer clearance clothing racks and clearance toy bins to stock up for shoeboxes that will be packed in November. Please pray for the program and the children around the world who will receive the Christmas boxes. Donations are also accepted for the $9 shipping cost per shoebox. Please note: no liquids, pastes or candy allowed. All items must be small enough to fit in a medium-sized shoebox.
