2 CORPUS CHRISTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, HOUSTON, TEXAS DECEMBER 20, 2009 CHRISTMAS CONCERT & RECEPTION Sunday, December 20, 7:00 pm Please join us this Sunday evening for a special Choir Concert featuring Advent and Christmas Music by our parish choirs. Music for this holy season will be presented by members of the Hispanic Choir, 11:00 Mass Choir and Childrens Choirs. Admission is free! A reception will follow in Prefontaine Hall. All are invited to share in the season celebrating the birthday of Christ! Share Your Heritage Bring an Ornament for the Christmas Tree In the spirit of celebrating Christmas around the world, we will decorate the Christmas Tree in the vestibule with ornaments from around the world. Everyone is invited to bring an ornament that is from your native country or reflective of your heritage and culture. Ornaments may be dropped off at church or at the office. Ideally, we would like to keep the ornaments for future years. If you want to have your ornament back, please be sure to label it with your name. The Christmas trees and decorations will remain in the church through the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, January 10, We look forward to seeing a wide variety of ornaments representing the various cultures of our parish! Decorate the Church for Christmas Tuesday, December 22, 7:00 pm Volunteers Men, Women and Children are needed to help decorate the church for Christmas. Share in the joy of preparing our worship space for the joyful celebration of Christ s birth. We have all the supplies...we just need YOU! We will meet in the church! Pray-ers Before the Blessed Sacrament Due to the Christmas and New Year holidays, Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament will not take place from Monday, December 21 to Monday, January 4. We will resume our regular adoration schedule on Monday, January 4, May each of you be blessed with the most important gifts of Christmas peace and love through Jesus, the Christ Child.. Christmas Flower Donations Honor a family member or friend with a special donation toward this year s Christmas flowers! The Council of Catholic Women invites you to use a donation envelope located in the vestibule. The flowers are used to decorate the church and sanctuary throughout the Christmas season. Envelopes may be placed in the collection basket or brought to the church office. Year End Charitable Contributions Are you considering a year-end gift to the church? All donations to Corpus Christi Church must be dated and received no later than December 31, 2009 in order to qualify as a charitable contribution in the 2009 calendar year. 3 Fourth Sunday of Advent DECEMBER 20, 2009 FORMATION TOWARD CHRISTIAN MINISTRY - Registration has begun for next semester. Courses will include Christology, Prayer & Spirituality, Church History, and Church Doctrine. FTCM offers theological content courses taught by instructors with Masters or Doctoral degrees. FTCM is for Catholic adults who seek greater understanding of Church teachings, or who are engaged in ministry or discerning their call to ministry. You may attend all or part of these sessions. Please see the green brochure in the vestibule for tuition and other information. CCE HOLIDAYS - 10:15-11:30 today, December 13, is the annual Advent/Christmas Gathering and final meeting until January 10, Are you NEW to Corpus Christi Parish? Families moving in are welcome to come to the office to sign up your children, ages 4 years old (pre-k) through high school for religious education classes. Children's Liturgy of the Word resumes on January 10. We are grateful for the kind assistance and fine leadership given to this ministry by our parents and teens. CLW is a celebration of the Liturgy of the Word (Scriptures of the day) at the 9:00 Mass in a manner that engages young children. They process out to the cafeteria after Mass begins and return during the Preparation of Gifts. Música de este tiempo santo será presentada por miembros del Coro en Español, el Coro de la Misa de 11:00 am y el Coro de Niños. Entrada gratuita. Bendición de Ministerios Nuestra comunidad se regocija y felicita a todos estos miembros que hoy reciben una bendición especial al terminar en este año la formación requerida para seguir sirviendo en sus diferentes ministerios. Compartiendo nuestras Tradiciones Traiga un Ornamento para el Arbolito de Navidad- En el espíritu de la celebración de Navidad alrededor del mundo, vamos a decorar el Arbol de Navidad en el vestíbulo con ornamentos de todo el mundo. Cada uno de nosotros somos invitados a traer un ornamento propio de nuestro país natal o que sea reflejo de nuestra cultura. Los ornamentos se pueden traer a la iglesia o a la oficina y nos gustaría, si es posible conservar los ornamentos para los años futuros. Si usted quisiera sólo prestar su ornamento, esté seguro de traerlo marcado con su nombre. Nuestros árboles de Navidad y las decoraciones van a permanecer en la iglesia hasta la Fiesta de el Bautismo del Señor, que se celebra el 10 de enero del Esperamos con gusto ver una gran variedad de ornamentos representando la diversidad de culturas de nuestra parroquia. Donaciones de Fin de Año - Ha considerado dar una donación de fin de año a la iglesia? Todas las donaciones a nombre de la Iglesia Corpus Christi deben tener fecha del 31 de Diciembre del 2009 con el fin de calificar como donaciones de caridad en el calendario del Un estado de cuenta va a ser enviado por la iglesia en enero del Adoración al Santísimo Debido a los días festivos de Navidad y Año Nuevo. La Adoración al Santísimo Sacramento se va a suspender desde el lunes 21 de diciembre hasta el lunes 4 de enero. El horario regular se reanuda el lunes 4 de enero del Que cada uno de ustedes sea bendecido con el más importante regalo de Navidad la paz y el amor a través de Jesús, el Niño Dios. Catecismo En este tiempo sagrado suspendemos las clases de Catecismo para darnos el tiempo a celebrar con nuestras familias, amistades y sobre todo con nuestra familia parroquial el Nacimiento del Niño Dios, Nuestra Salvador. Vamos viviendo la verdadera experiencia del verdadero espíritu de la Navidad participando con nuestra familias en las celebraciones litúrgicas de nuestra parroquia!
