2 December 30th: The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph FROM THE PASTOR Dear Parishioners, The nonsense poet Ogden Nash once defined family as a unit composed not only of children, but of men, women, an occasional animal, and the common cold. He forgot to add that, at least for us Christians, it is also where the faith is passed on. For this reason, our Diocese of Brooklyn has designed an initiative to stimulate parents to accept responsibility for the ongoing faith formation of their children. Here at St. Raphael s, we already see this happening in our Friday evening family catechesis group, where children are instructed with and in the presence of one or both parents. It s not kids stuff, or grown-ups stuff, but family stuff. You can participate and receive free monthly family catechesis materials straight to your phone. Text FAMCAT to The activities and resources you get (by means of text messages) will help you and your family grow in faith. Our Food Pantry re-opens this Thursday, Jan. 3rd, at 10:30 am. 3. A children s THREE KINGS (EPIPHANY) party will be held next Sunday, in Spanish, in Brennan Hall following the Spanish Mass. After the pre4sentation, the Kings will present gifts to all the children present. 4. No Religious Education (CCD) classes today. They resume next Sunday. 5. In observance of NEW YEAR S DAY, the rectory office will close at noon on Monday and be closed on Tuesday. 6.
