2 A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR PRIGGE Encourage one another -Hebrews 3:13 In light of the gifts of Christ s death and resurrection, and the forgiveness we have in Him, we are to glorify God with our actions and our words. We talk a lot about actions, but not so much about our words. In a nutshell we are to be encouragers. God has given us the gift of language to spread the Good News about Jesus, directly and indirectly. By building others up, offering honest compliments, inspiring others and encouraging them to succeed we are indirectly sharing the love of God. We directly share the Gospel when we tell others how God s love makes an impact on our daily lives. Victory is full of people who encourage. Keep it up! Encouragement is what makes Victory enjoyable and it reminds those who come here that God loves them and we love them. Be an encourager! 9 News from the Financial Secretary Thank you for supporting Victory Lutheran. Your first quarter contribution statement has been placed in your mailbox. Please review for accuracy and reach out to Tim Peters if you have any questions. Volunteer Opportunities Board Positions The current board positions are open: Outreach/Assimilation Fellowship Shepherding Please the office or contact Ethan Grev if you are interested. Church Grounds Cleanup New Tuesday Night grounds work opportunity. Doug and others typically do yard work and other activities Tuesday nights around 4:00-5:00 PM. All are invited to come when available and help with some of the work and tasks. Worship Assistants Please consider helping out as a worship assistant. We are currently looking for more help in all areas. It is important to remember that these positions are a vital role to our worship here at Victory Lutheran. We appreciate your assistance! Church Information Flowers for the Altar The Flowers for the Altar sign-up sheet on the kiosk by the office. If there is a special occasion or event or you d just like to beautify the sanctuary, please sign up and let Kay Peters know your arrangement preference (quantity, color, type, price). Tote Bags/Bulletins Tote bags for the younger children are available on the rack in back. Please feel free to use one during the worship service and then return it when done. Children s bulletins are available on the round table by the church entrance. They are directed at ages 3-6. Although children of all ages will enjoy them. Victory Prayer Chain Victory has an Prayer Chain which will lift your specific requests up to God for you. Those who receive the will prayerfully support you in your need with His comfort, love and strength. If you let Pastor or the church office know, your prayer request will be forwarded. May we cast our cares unto Him whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light. Page 9

12 BOD Monthly Status Report Thursday, April In attendance: Vernone Feyereisen, Pastor Prigge, Ian Newville, Doug Scholz, Garret Grev, Ethan Grev, Tim Peters and Katie Peters Absent: Alice Prigge Pastor called meeting to order; and opened with a devotion Board Status Updates: Financial Secretary: Tim March was the first time in 2017 that we were over by roughly $880 Five Sundays in April should help with contributions Treasurer: Vernone Reviewed balances in all accounts and dedicated funds Still behind last year on offerings however expenses are also down Properties: Doug First meeting was held by the building committee Looking to conduct a survey of the congregation Discussed the opportunity to do fundraisers to help contribute to updates/renovations Next meeting will be May 3 rd after they can gather survey results Looking to get more of the congregation involved in work days/grubby Sundays Next grubby Sunday will be June 11 th Worship Support: Ian Was able to add a few new acolytes Recording Secretary: Katie Received 3 of the audit letter back with 100% of them confirming their giving matched their personal bank statements Going to be drawing up a report and filing it / closing the books on 2016 Church Coordinator: Ethan Needing to set next congregational meeting to vote on fulfilling Fellowship Board Position Sunday May 7 th Pastor s Report: Pastor Confirmation Sunday is April 30 th Combining public witnessing and confirmation on the same Sunday Great consistent turnout on all Lenten services Old Business: Discuss TV / Welcome Area Going to be discussed with the Building Committee New Business: Grubby Sunday for May/June June 1st Facilities Committee Has formed and met to discuss goal / priorities Next meeting will be held May 3 rd 5K plans Closing Prayer / Adjournment Pastor Next Meeting Thursday, May 6:30PM Page 12
