4 Festival Success! It is hard to believe that we are at the end of July. Just think! Christmas is now less than six full months away! If you drove up to the parish office on Monday, you would never know there was a big festival there. Last week was recorded as the most humid weather in this region in over a decade but it didn't stop the festival. So many from the parish came out to support the festival in spite of the heat, humidity and threats for storms. Many who wanted to come out just could not because of the weather and that was okay because they were praying for the festival success and it helped. Thank you for your prayers. For those who were unable to make it this year, we have included an extra page of photos from the week. The games were great, the rides were fun and the Food was Awesome! There are so many people to thank for dedicating their time and talents to the festival that it would take multiple pages to list them all so to everyone who came to help set up, tear down and work at the festival, I THANK YOU! To all who came to spend time enjoying the festival, I THANK YOU! You may not realize this but for me personally as the pastor, the festival is not so much about raising money as it is about building community and parish relationships and I believe our festival accomplishes that every year. There is a particular group of parishioners who start planning and carrying out the entire endeavor from beginning to the very end and they often are un-noticed and so I wanted to let you know who they are. If you see them at mass or in the local grocery store or wherever, maybe you can thank them as well for a huge job well done! 7 By Stephanie Logue Festival and Other F Words Our 2017 Festival was filled with F words. Four nights of fun Ferris wheel, food, fresh funnel cakes, French fries, fish, fifty-fifty raffle, flea market finds, fellowship, festive music, and, since we re nearly a full year as Holy Apostles Parish, friends. Here are some fotos (oops, I cheated on that one!) MANY more pictures on the website. ATTENTION PLEASE NOTE The DEADLINE for BULLETIN SUBMISSIONS will be Thursday at 3 PM. Articles received after that time will be in the following weeks bulletin. SAFE ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM We will be offering Mandatory Reporters Live training sessions at the parish office building at St. Albert site on the following dates. Wednesday, August 23, PM to 9 PM Saturday, August 26, AM to 1 PM Wednesday, September 20, PM to 9 PM Saturday, September 23, AM to 1 PM We have had many questions regarding these sessions, such as: Who has to attend these sessions? Answer all adult volunteers or employees of the diocese ( this includes anyone over the age of 18 ). Didn t I attend this session years ago? Answer most likely you attended a session titled Protecting God s Children (that showed you what to look for to know that a child was in trouble and what to do). It was mandated by the Catholic Diocese. Mandatory Reporters training is State Mandated, it shows you what to look for, how to report it and who are mandated reporters. There are only 50 openings for each session, you can contact the office and I will register you or on line at Diopitt.org. DIOCESAN CHOIR AUDITIONS Auditions for the Diocesan Choir under the direction of Fr. Jim Chepponis will be held soon. Currently there are openings for soprano, alto, tenor and bass. In addition to being good singers, must be capable sight readers, limited rehearsal schedule, and must be 18 years of age. Rehearsals are held at St. John Capistran Church in Upper St. Clair. Schedule audition by calling Doris Anne at before August 21. Gilmary Council #3868 Grand Knight Bernard Komoroski ( ) CHRISTIAN MOTHERS & GUILD BUS TRIP The Christian Mothers and Guild is sponsoring their annual day bus trip Saturday, September 9th. The best way to explain what Nar-Anon is or does is to present the Nar-Anon mission statement: Nar-Anon Family Groups are a worldwide fellowship for those affected by someone else s addiction. As a twelve step program, we offer our help by sharing our experience, strength, and hope. Nar-Anon is a twelve step program for families and friends of addicts. Our next meeting will be Monday July 31,2017, at the Holy Apostles parish, St. Albert s church, in the chapel. We will begin at 6:30 pm. If you have been affected by someone else s addiction, as the mission statement says, please join us. We maintain anonymity for the sake of all. For more detailed information please check the Nar-Anon website at: Pre-Cana Preparation The Diocesan mandated pre-cana marriage preparation course will be held at Holy Apostles Parish, in the Faith Formation Building, on September 15 and 16 (Friday and Saturday). Registration is required with a fee of $60.00 to cover books and other expenses. Please contact the Church office at X 206 to register. The Faith Formation Building is the former Bishop McDowell School located on the St. Albert the Great Church campus. This is located in Baldwin, at 3198 Schieck St, just off Glass Run Rd.
