E A S (FOLLOWING THE ROSARY) ALL ARE WELCOME! 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time The tragic event in Squirrel Hill a week ago reminds us not only of the ongoing presence of hatred in our country but also of the precious gift of human life and the clarion call for each one of us to make more obvious the kingdom of God in this world through care, charity, kindness, respect, justice and peace. The more often that we evidence that we are longing for the coming of God s kingdom in its fullness, the more frequently will good overcome evil. May those whose lives were brutally taken enjoy the fullness of God s peace in heaven. May those who remain to mourn be comforted in a way that only God can comfort them. May we through our everyday efforts in and both word and action bring the light of Christ to what is at times a darkened world. OPERATION SHOE BOX The St. Vincent de Paul Society is again sponsoring Operation Shoe Box for the residents at area homeless shelters. Collection boxes are located at the rear of the church and at the entrances to receive your donations through Nov. 21st. Please refer to this Sunday s bulletin insert that lists suggested items that can be donated. Thank you for your continued support. Nativity Tree Move the reindeer and snowmen over a little to make room for the real meaning of Christmas with a Nativity Tree. Cost is $65.00 benefiting St. Margaret of Scotland Parish Community. Love Your Neighbor As Yourself As we hear these words proclaimed in the Gospel today, we encounter them in the context of last week s massacre of 11 souls as they gathered to worship God. Their peaceful morning was shattered by the violence and hatred of one person whose actions cannot be comprehended with reason. While sorrow fills our hearts because of 11 lives lost and so many more affected by this tragedy, the response in our places of worship and in our communities has not been to fight hatred with hatred, but to overcome evil with love to love our neighbors as ourselves. In times of tragedy, the inspiration of the Spirit of God works overtime to strengthen the resilience of the human spirit so that we not only work to build stronger communities, but also to look deep within ourselves and work to root out anything that seeks to divide us from God and others. This is not only effective as a response to tragedy, but for every aspect of our lives and our relationships we seek to build up. May this call and desire to love our neighbors as ourselves, not only overcome hatred and division in the world, but also strengthen the Church as we continue our journey On Mission for The Church Alive! Cemetery Open House On Saturday, November 10 th Resurrection & Holy Souls Cemeteries will be conducting an open house from 1:00 4:00 p.m. at the Holy Angels Chapel Mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery. Children s Liturgy will take place on the FIRST Sunday of each month during the 10:30 a.m. Mass. We hope this will be an opportunity to bring the Word of God to our little ones in a very special way. Volunteers are always welcome! At St. Margaret s, we have a group that started the Gospel according to St. Mark on Oct. 31 at 10 AM and they ll meet three Wednesdays a month for about 8 weeks. It s not a class, not a lecture, but a place where people wanting to learn more can come together! We have groups in the morning and evening every week day. We have afternoon groups throughout the week as well. On Thursday morning, one of our wonderful deacons leads a group studying Romans. Saturday morning, we have a men s fellowship group and a women s fellowship group. Come encounter The Truth in one of our Living Room Churches! Please contact the Religious Education Office. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: All children of the parish are expected to receive Religious Education in the parish school or the CCD program. Preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation take place in this context. SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: Arrangements must be made at least six (6) months in advance of the anticipated date by contacting the priest. A date will not be set until a couple has met with the priest. SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK: Every Sunday after the 10:30 am Mass this Sacrament is offered for anyone facing an operation or being hospitalized. If a parishioner is not able to attend Mass, the priest and/or Eucharistic Ministers can take Communion to the home on Sundays. NOCTURNAL ADORATION: There is exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on the First Friday of the month from 10 PM until 7AM.
