(See Mass Intentions ) SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM FOR INFANTS: Baptism is celebrated by appointment on the second and fourth Sundays of the month after the 12:15 PM Mass. A reflection on the gift of the Sacrament of Baptism is provided monthly for parents, in the Parish Office. Call the Religious Education Office to register. INITIATION INTO THE CHURCH (RCIA & CIC): RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) and CIC (Christian Initiation of Children) are processes by which un-baptized persons and baptized persons from other faith traditions or with no formal religious education, are brought into the Church. Please contact the Religious Education Office. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: All children of the parish are expected to receive Religious Education in the parish school or the CCD program. Preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation take place in this context. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: The Sacrament is available Saturday 3:00-3:45 PM, and any time by appointment. SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: Arrangements must be made at least six (6) months in advance of the anticipated date by contacting the priest. A date will not be set until a couple has met with the priest. RELIGIOUS VOCATIONS: For information on the priesthood or religious life contact the priest or the Vocation Office of the Diocese of Pittsburgh at , ext. 23. SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK: Every Sunday after the 8:00 am Mass this Sacrament is offered for anyone who is facing an operation or going into the hospital. If you are homebound and need this sacrament, contact the Parish Office. HOSPITALIZED PARISHIONERS AND SHUT-INS: Please call the Parish Office if someone in your family is hospitalized or a shutin. If a parishioner is not able to attend Mass, the priest and/or Eucharistic Ministers can take Communion to the home on Sundays. NOCTURNAL ADORATION: There is exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on the First Friday of the month from 10 PM until 7AM. PARISH REGISTRATION: Those new to the area, newlyweds and single adults, are asked to register by contacting the Parish Office.

2 Page 2 CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK January 28, 2018 February 2, 2018 Our annual celebration of National Catholic Schools Week begins in two weeks. We will Kick-Off Catholic Schools week on Sunday, January 28 th with a Children s Liturgy at the 12:15pm Mass. In addition, we will have a Fellowship Luncheon following Mass in the School Cafeteria, sponsored by our PTG. We would like to invite all our school families and parishioners to our Mass and Luncheon. We have a whole week of activities planned to show what our students are accomplishing and to celebrate the community we have built to educate tomorrow s citizens and church leaders. During Catholic Schools Week, St. Margaret of Scotland School will sponsor a Pre-School / Kindergarten Information Night on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6:00pm 7:00pm in the school. I hope anyone interested in becoming part of the St. Margaret of Scotland School family will join us to learn more about these exciting programs. Please bring your family and neighbors, particularly those who may be thinking about Catholic Education for their children. You will have the opportunity to meet the teachers and to tour the classrooms. Also, we will have information on registration and a presentation of our curriculum. St. Margaret of Scotland provides Financial Aid to families who qualify. Catholic Schools Week is a time of celebration. In addition to our Kick-Off to Catholic Schools Week Liturgy and Fellowship Luncheon we have many activities planned. I feel strongly about the benefits that a Catholic Education has to offer, so please consider joining us for our Pre-School / Kindergarten Information Night. Priests and deacons are called by name to stand before the community as they are ordained for the tasks of teaching, leading and sanctifying. Religious men and women are consecrated to God as they promise poverty, chastity and obedience of the sake of the kingdom. Lay leaders in the Church are commissioned for their service as they share their gifts and expertise for the good of our faith communities. However, the call of God is not limited just to these. Has the invitation to follow God s will or to serve his people gone unanswered in your life? As the final preparations are being made for the On Mission for The Church Alive! announcements, more will need to change than just Mass schedules and clergy assignments. All of us should be willing to listen for and answer the call of God in our lives. Through this, more disciples will step forth to serve the Church in new and creative ways. Next weekend s second collection benefits St. Anthony School Programs and DePaul School for Hearing and Speech. St. Anthony School Programs offers an inclusive education to children with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism. DePaul School for Hearing and Speech teaches children who are deaf or hard of hearing to listen, speak, and learn. Both programs empower students to become active members of their respective communities. 3 January 14, 2018 First Reconciliation Retreat: Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the School Cafeteria. All 2nd grade students and at least one of their parents from the CCD Program and the school are to attend the retreat. Volunteers please read the following information regarding individuals having direct contact with children and/or youth. These persons are required to obtain Mandated Reporter Training: Athletic Coaches and Helpers, Cafeteria Workers, Catechists, Chaperones, Music Ministry Volunteers, School Volunteers, Scouting Volunteers, and others with the equivalent of these positions. Mandated Reporter Training is available online by visiting the diopitt.org website, clicking on Safe Environment, and following the prompts. You may also take a live class. The class lasts 3 hours, whether online or in person. The following live MRT classes have been scheduled. If you are required to complete this training, you are able to sign up through Signup Genius and each session is limited to 50 participants. The dates/times/places are: Date Children s Liturgy will take place on the FIRST Sunday of each month. Children ages 3 and up are invited and will be escorted over to the Parish Office for an ageappropriate version of the First and Second Readings and the gospel. Each week, they will receive a Bible Verse sticker to take home. We hope this will be an opportunity to bring the Word of God to our little ones in a very special way. Volunteers are always welcome!
