1 MESSENGER We celebrated another joyous Easter Sunday at St. James rejoicing in the victory we have in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus Resurrection was more than a mere resuscitation of physical life. Several people in the Bible were brought to life from the dead, but they eventually died again. Jesus, however, has risen forever. We will too, if we put our trust in Jesus and what he has done for us. The St. James Our vision for St. James Parish is to be a Loving Family, embracing all peoples, expressing the love of Jesus Christ and carrying out His Ministry in our Community of Faith and the Community in which we live. For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being; for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. (1st Corinthians 15:20-22 APRIL 2016

Carmen is a lifelong member of St. James who has been working with our children in the nursery, Vacation Bible School, and other youth events. Our intergenerational program has provided a fun way for our members to get to know one another, especially if they attend different services, or if some are new to the parish. Most importantly, we have learned some important key passages of Scripture and seen how they apply to our lives. Breakfast is included. Come join us! 4 CONFIRMATION AT ST, JAMES This year s Confirmation Service is planned for Pentecost Sunday, May 15th, at 10:00a.m (the date has been changed from April 17th). The Rt. Rev d. Dan Herzog, retired Bishop of Albany, will be visiting us. If you are interested in being confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church, please contact the church office or Fr. Trees STEPHEN MINISTRY "Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." -- Galatians 6:2 Challenging times offer tremendous opportunities to provide Christian care to people who are hurting. Pastors want to provide that care but can't do it alone. Stephen Ministry offers an effective and biblical solution: Equip the saints for ministry! Imagine how much more ministry could happen if our congregation had a team of well-trained lay caregivers equipped to provide one-to-one Christian care to people who need it. This is the mission of Stephen Ministry. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry, please join us at a "Stephen Ministry Introductory Workshop" which will be held at a church in Ocala on Saturday, April 23, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Mommy & Me Thursdays at 9:00 a.m in the Chapel The Mommy & Me music class, based on the Music Garden Curriculum, is held on Thursday mornings at 9:00am in the Chapel. Happy April Fools Day, Everyone! We often enjoy the merriment of this particular non-holiday, trying to trick or fool our friends and family into falling for pranks throughout the day. It s all in good fun, of course, though I have never been a big fan I embarrass easily, and I don t like to see others embarrassed, either. But, alas, I need to just get over it and enjoy the fun, I suppose! It did set me thinking about it means to be a fool, however. I recalled the scripture passage which reminds us that, a fool says in his heart there is no god, and there are several places throughout the Bible that echo some variation on this theme. What I found really interesting, though, was that in most every instance foolishness is contrasted with wisdom, which is seen as its antidote. And that was a sobering thoughtmam I consistently seeking after the wisdom of God? Do I want to grow in God s wisdom? Am I sincere about being a wise and peaceful presence in this world? As I ponder these thoughts, I am once again grateful for a gracious and loving God, One who calls me to journey in faith as I grow slowly (but, hopefully, surely!) into the likeness of Christ. Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord; Thou my great Father; thine own may I be; Thou in me dwelling, and I one with thee. Yours in Christ, Deb Carraway

They are responsible for creating life changing independence for people with disabilities. Imagine not being able to open a door, answer the phone, hear a fire alarm, or even pick up a pencil. Think what it would be like to have people stare at you because you re in a wheelchair, or feel isolated and alone because you re different. These are the kinds of challenges many people with disabilities face daily. Put a Canine Companion assistance dog in the picture and everything changes. Thanks to the physical tasks the assistance dog performs, lives are suddenly filled with new promise and potential. It is a national organization with a local program in Orlando. You may contact them on cci.org or info@cci.org, or 1-(800)-572-BARK (2275). On Sunday, April 10 there will be an envelope in the bulletin that you can place your donation. Your check may be made out to St. James, with a notation that it is for the DOK Outreach project, Canine Companions. All of the Daughters of the King thank you for your generosity. Friday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 23rd. The funds raised are used to support youth ministry and missions. There are many folks who return to us each year because they appreciate St. James hospitality! Volunteers are needed to help with parking both days. A sign-up sheet is posted in the Parish Hall.
