1 FaithFul Navigator s report Many Catholics choose to sacrifice something during the season of Lent. We obviously can't go forty days in the desert without food or drink like Jesus did, but giving up a favorite food or activity is the modern way of celebrating the season that leads up to Easter. By now I hope you have chosen what to give up and have started the Lenten season on a good note. However, what if you did not pick the right thing? Can I change? Is this something I enjoy doing/eating? Is this something that's important to me? Do I think this will be a challenge throughout Lent? Will I appreciate this when I can have/do it again on Easter? Am I giving this up because I have to (someone is making me), or because I want to? Is this a true sacrifice? If you answered yes to all of these questions, you've chosen an excellent Lenten sacrifice. If not, CHANGE. It means nothing if it is not hard and or a sacrifice. Stick with it. Say you've given up your favorite treat, chocolate, and it's been about a week. You rarely go this amount of time without your candy sweets, and you're not sure you can make it until Easter. Don't quit. Don't give up or give in early. Jesus ate nothing for forty days, and all we have to do is sacrifice one little bit of our busy lives. On Easter morning, you'll thank yourself for it, and more importantly, God will thank you, too. Just think how good you will feel after Easter Mass! Shawn Reichhardt - Faithful Navigator

2 From the admiral s desk Worthy Sir Knights, as you know one fund raising event we do at each Assembly meeting is the 50/50 drawing. We are making a tweek to this event starting at our March meeting. Tickets will be sold in the following offers: 1 ticket for $2 3 tickets for $5 7 tickets for $10 As always the winner will be drawn at the end of each meeting and will split the pot with the house. The more that play the more you can win. Also do not forget, you can always donate your winnings back towards one of charities. 3 pilot s report on turn outs Upcoming Turn Outs Tuesday, March 1, 2016, 7:30 PM Business Meeting Dinner at 6:30 Saturday, March 5, 2016, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Confirmation Mass. Msgr. Bill Young would like to request a 4th Degree turnout for a Confirmation Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, scheduled for Saturday, March 5, Please line up at 9 A.M. for the 10 A.M. Mass. I believe there are currently 96 teens scheduled to be confirmed that day. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Chrism Mass. Chrism Mass on Tuesday, the 22nd Thursday, March 24, 2016, 7:00 PM - 12:00 AM Holy Thursday MASS. Mass of the Last Supper and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until midnight. This is an Assembly only event and we will post guards throughout the night. The more SK's we have to faster we can swap out. Friday, March 25, 2016, 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM Good Friday Service with the Helpers of God's Precious Infants Join the Helpers of God s Precious Infants 8:00 a.m in a peaceful, prayerful Service and Stations of the Cross at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral followed by Rosary and Divine Mercy (approx. 10am) at Planned Parenthood 4600 Gulf Freeway. Sir Knights, Easter will be here soon, and we need your support and attendance at the events that we already have scheduled for our Assembly and District. The Cardinal and many, many Priests will be attending the Chrism mass to obtain their holy oil for their parishes. We need a large turnout of our Knights to demonstrate our strong support to Diocesan events. In addition, we have our Holy Thursday mass which is an Assembly event so we can t depend on Sir Knights from other assemblies to attend it. We need Sir Knights there for the 7PM mass through midnight. We can t always depend on the half a dozen Sir Knights who usually turnout for assembly events to be there. They are getting older and can t be expected to attend events late in the evening. Please take the initiative and attend these events as a Sir Knight from our Assembly. Oh dearest comforter of the troubled, alleviate the worry and sorrow with your gentle love and grant us the peace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our sick under your care and humbly ask that you restore your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do, you do for the love of us. 01/19/2016: We have been notified that Jack R. Charrin is also in need of our prayers. He also is in poor health, but recovering. Pray for the strength of her husband who is by her side each day and for her comfort. 12/11 Sir Knight and PFN Fred Racey has been in and out of the hospital for the past few weeks. He left the hospital Thursday the 10 th and is in recovery; please keep him in your prayers. 12/10 Please pray for the speedy and complete recovery Kuno Trostmann Jr., of St Theresa - The Little Flower Council He had a heart attack yesterday. He is in stable condition and awaiting further treatment from his Cardiologist Team once he is transferred to Methodist Hospital Deceased Prayer Requests Let us pray: Eternal Rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. As a follow-up to the Chalice Presentation Mass conducted at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on November 14, 2015, please be advised the Chalice dedicated to the honor of SK Judge William Hatten was personally delivered by Ana V. Shaver of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, to the St. Vincent de Paul School at the Mission in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on December 3, The pictures depict the schoolchildren gathering for Mass on February 8, 2016, as well as Padre Pedro Riasco celebrating mass with the Chalice engraved in SK Judge William Hatten's honor. Everyone involved is thrilled about the donated Chalice, and have expressed thanks to the Knights for bringing the matter to fruition, as reflected by the following 2 notes from Ms. Shaver, the Ecuadorian school's original benefactor and member of our own St. Vincent de Paul parish. 01/25/2016: SK Emeka Umah was called home to be with the Lord this past Friday the 15th.
