Wednesday, ten (10) days in advance of the weekend of publication. PARISH REGISTRATION: Welcome all new families and individuals. Membership is a condition for the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion at St. Benedict, and for the parish to issue a sponsorship certificate for those asked to be sacramental sponsors. You must be a registered, contributing member for at least three (3) months before a certificate will be given. Registration forms are available in the Parish Office. SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK: If you are seriously ill, going in for surgery or weak from old age, you may receive the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Please contact Fr. Duong if you desire to receive this sacrament. HOSPITAL & NURSING HOME & SHUT-IN VISITS: If you or any members of your family are sick and in the hospital or a nursing home, and you d like Communion brought to them, please call the Parish Office. FAITH FORMATION: All classes from Pre-K to High School are on Sundays from 9:30-10:30am in the Parish Hall. For more information call Lynne McGrath. 5 PARISH NEWS SHARING GOD'S GIFTS 2015 DSA APPEAL As of today 65 of our parishioners have contributed. As we approach the end of the school year, let us give thanks for the wonderful catechists who have shared their faith with our children. Your DSA gifts help provide training and certification for our parish catechists. If you have not yet made a gift, please give prayerful consideration to how you can share God s gifts with thousands of people throughout our diocese. Our assessment this year is $22, Thank you for your generosity. EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS AND LECTORS NEEDED, There is a need for Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors at all Masses. What better way to fulfill the apostolic dream than to read God s word and/or distribute His most precious Body and Blood our fellow Parishioners. If you are interested in being part of these two spiritually gratifying Ministries or have any additional questions please call Lou Spera at MASS FOR THE MILITARY: His Excellency, Bishop Peter J. Jugis, will celebrate a Mass for U.S. military personnel on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Charlotte. The Mass and rosary (to be recited at 3:00 p.m.) will be offered for all military personnel who have died and for those who are now serving. All military personnel are invited and encouraged to come in uniform. Photos of those who have died or who are now serving in the military will be displayed in the Cathedral. To include your service member, preferably in uniform, please mail a color or black & white photocopy of them with their name and military rank on the back of the photocopy to Nancy Weber, Office of the Bishop, 1123 South Church Street, Charlotte, NC to be received no later than July 13, (Please do not send original photographs as they will not be returned. 6 FAITH FORMATION NEWS VACATION BIBLE SHOOL 2015 Will be held June 22 nd to June 26 th from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Sign up sheets are in both vestibules of the Church. 7 COMMUNITY NEWS FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM There will be a Religious Liberty March and Prayer Vigil on June 26, We will begin the march at the parking lot at 1524 Palmer St. Charlotte, NC (across from the Pastoral Center) at 11:30 am. Instructions prior to marching will begin at 11:15 am. Please arrive early to park and be prepared for the instructions by 11:15 am. The march will include Fr. Michael Kottar pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, NC preaching at Trade and Tryon Streets followed by the Litany for Religious Liberty. Then we will pray the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy in front of the Federal Courthouse at 401 W. Trade St. Charlotte. Please come and be a witness in uptown Charlotte to defend Religious Liberty!
